Really Worried About Lee Evans

49 posts in this topic

Lee said that his ankle is getting better and that he plans to return after our bye week. The only way for him to get healthy is rest and our coaches are doing a good job playin it safe because we will need him come December and January.

All of that after enough beers to turn this forum into a karaoke machine, very impressive sir. I have had a few cortisone shots so I dont feel it much, sounds like you may have had your fair share.

Ive had one too, I mean I in no way meant get one every week. But sometimes a cortisone shot is what you need to get over the hump. Theres pro's and con's to everything you do in sports. Directed at Mullins, Im well aware of what happens to joints after prolonged cortisone use, but we're talking about one shot here. My elbow eventually needed surgery but the cortisone shot didn't ruin my elbows functionality after I had it, it did nothing because there was already ligament damage.

I think the tight ends and Ray Rice will be bigger factors in this game. Besides, in terms of chemistry, Flacco has more with Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss than he does with Evans.

Do we even know when/how the injury occurred in the first place?
I'm pretty sure it stems from the horsecollar tackle he sustained in the preseason game vs KC. He torched his guy and this is what he got from it :(

We'll need Jimmy Smith/ Lee Evans 100% on houston game. That game is going to be an absolute shoot out.

I'm hoping Pitt shows us what NOT to do

I don't think it hurts us. Dickson and RR both should have huge games. They have to respect Torrey after last week and you know Boldin will draw huge interest. Things should open up underneath very nicely. Especially when they cheat up to try to stop the Vonta/Ray/Ricky Train!

I have this huge fear that Evans' ankle is chronic, which, obviously, would not be good. I said this 2 weeks ago and got slammed, so I apologize if you are a big Lee fan. Not something I'm hoping for.

It does hurt us because as much as Cro is vulnerable to giving up the big plays, I would imagine he'll do a better job covering Torrey than their nickel would. Establishing the ground game is essential for us to be successful on offense.

I hope his ankle is not as serious as it could be too. I'm all for resting it until it's 100% healthy again.

Source?

From what I have read, last year's injury was a left ankle and it is now a left ankle.

Like I said before, I DO hope he is healed soon and meets his potential. If at full strength, he will be a huge asset.

We don't really need him right now imo.

But mid to late season, its huge to have a veteran like him on an inexperienced offense.

Before we start writing Evans off, just remember how his speed opened the door for Rice and Boldin to have a great game against the Steelers. Maybe If we had Evans at full speed, then we never would have lost to the Titans. I'm glad that Smith got the opportunity to have that great game against the Rams. Confidence only comes after a person tastes success. We have Doss and Smith to fill in while we wait for Evans to return. We have a great set of TEs to spread the Jets' secondary. Let's just wait to see Evans, Boldin, and Smith together after a few more weeks of rest.

I say let everyone we will need for the long haul get the much needed rest now to fully heal. We seemed to be fine going into the season without him and this could get the young guys some much needed reps also considering the schedule isnt to tough excluding the the Texans after the bye. Same goes for Jimmy, dont bring him back until hes as close to 100% as can be.

It's still not getting any better, they had a second MRI on it and they said the same thing, nothing broken or fractured just some muscle stress? Even Harbaugh said he is starting to worry something is wrong.

Lets remember that last year Buffalo had to shut him down because of his ankle, or foot.... I'm starting to worry he might need some surgery to fix whatever it is.

The fact they dont know whats wrong kind of reminds me of Gaither's mystery back injury....

I thought he'd heal up in a few weeks but now Im getting concerned, if he's still not right after the BYE then we have to start thinking about losing him for the rest of the season. Bring in another veteran WR or something...let him have surgery if needed and correct this problem.

Funny thing is his whole career he's never been hurt, then last year and this year he cant stay healthy.
no need to worry bruh! we have capable WRs that can do a great job when given the opportunities (i.e. Boldin, Torrey Smith, Tandon Doss and our TEs; Dickson and Pitta). relax!

If he isnt in the line up and playing atleast 90% after the bye, then i will start to worry with you. But i say let him rest along with J.Smith. If they are both out still when we play the Texans, i think something will be wrong that they arnt telling us. For both Guys.
