Really Worried About Lee Evans

49 posts in this topic

It's still not getting any better, they had a second MRI on it and they said the same thing, nothing broken or fractured just some muscle stress? Even Harbaugh said he is starting to worry something is wrong.

Lets remember that last year Buffalo had to shut him down because of his ankle, or foot....I'm starting to worry he might need some surgery to fix whatever it is.

The fact they dont know whats wrong kind of reminds me of Gaither's mystery back injury....

I thought he'd heal up in a few weeks but now Im getting concerned, if he's still not right after the BYE then we have to start thinking about losing him for the rest of the season. Bring in another veteran WR or something...let him have surgery if needed and correct this problem.

Funny thing is his whole career he's never been hurt, then last year and this year he cant stay healthy.

Well even if he can't get 100%, he can still play. We just want him to get his speed back.

Yeah it's weird. I hope ge gets treatment or sees a specialist or sumthing. This is way too awkward.

I had a bruised foot (and slight stress fracture) and had to wear a boot for 2-3 months... sometimes those types of injuries take longer to heal than people think, and it's all about staying off of it long enough to allow it to heal properly. As 1/28/01 said, 3 straight weeks off should do wonders, especially with the around-the-clock treatments he's getting.

He'll be fine.

It's not like we need him right away any how. Torrey and the young guys, tightends included, have stepped up.

On 105.7 The Fan, Dan Kolko said he may not be ready to play vs. Houston. I guess we'll wait and see how the rest the next few weeks affects him.

His absence will be a real blow to us this game against the Jets where they have considerable depth at corner but if it means he's useful for the next 12 games this season then hopefully he heals well over the bye week.

They are letting him get to the bye week without any setbacks. I'm not overly worried. It sucks he can't go. But its a big help that Torrey had a monster game last week.

I still think Evans comes back after the bye and has a big impact in the passing game.

Rest up Evans.

Good thing we drafted 2 WRs. Or our WRs would look thin right now with Evans and Reed out. But we dont really need one since we got RR27

Blessing in disguise. Gives the rookies more meaningful playing time in real game situations and to develop chemistry with Joe Flacco. Once Lee Evans is 100% and the rookies and Flacco are all on the same page...it's on!

Torrey and LaQuan (covered by Wilson) going deep; Boldin, Rice, and Dickson/Pitta working in the middle and checkdowns. Torrey will beat Chromatie deep which will draw SS over to Torrey as LaQuan will beat one on one against Kyle Wilson: a 6ft WR vs 5'10CB. LaQuan will beat Wilson in the jumpball contest.

Dickson will get a few big yardage catch and TDs from going deep in the middle; no one can cover him........

I believe this is a different leg than the one last season based on an interview a week or 2 ago.

Like others said, we will need him down the stretch. He is a good player and a good pick up. Sucks he is out now but yeah, we got some young guys to learn and get adjusted before NFL defenses really start learning to shut teams down (except Ravens that is!)

We're better with him but fine without him. Smith just had a breakout game and even if he doesn't have that same success he will get definite respect from defenses. I really wanna see more of Laquan as well, he only notched one reception but you can tell the playmaking is there, like that spectacular leaping catch that went out of bounds.

Just goes to show you why the league is so concerned with horsecollar tackles. I really want to see us start utilizing doss at least in the red zone. The guy catches anything that comes his way and he's 6 foot 3. I dont understand why we havent been throwing any type of quick underneath routes or corner fades to this guy yet.

Needs a good old fashioned cortisone shot. He'll be ready to go after the bye. Cam just has to focus his game plan around Dickson and Pitta this week.

Fact remains is such:

Except for this game, we don't really "need" his services. I'd much rather him down the stretch, 100% healthy, and scaring the living ish out of corners, safeties, and defensive coordinators, rather then have a hobbled, broken, sorta threat.

Next 5 weeks:

Jets--Would be nice to have him versus A-Cro
Bye Week
Texans--Joseph will obviously have to take Boldin, and Smith/Reed and the Tight Ends will do fine
Jaguars-- um, besides Mathis, their secondary is laughable, we all know Landry can't cover
Cardinals--Patrick Peterson is sick, but everyone else there now is mediocre or worse

Then, Pittsburgh....

So ideally, Evans sits until the Cardinal game and uses it as a live-tune up so that we can go into Pittsburgh aggressive, and hopefully touting two amazing deep threats in Evans, and a much improved Torrey Smith, who would have been starting 4 consecutive games prior to the Cardinals.

Side Note: While researching our schedule, and corners we will face I find myself impressed, and confused that the best secondary we will face will be Cleveland. Pittsburgh is simply Polly and the pass rush, and every other team has one stud corner, or none....

Oh Flacco, go wacko, and show those NFL analysts are smokin' crack yo, I know your sick of taking flak bro!

*p.s. sorry bout the rap, its a result of happy hour beverages, and a bit of Lil' Wayne in my speakers, although I likes it

You do know cortisone shots are not like candy, and you can't just do one when you want one?

They fundamentally destroy the integrity of joint tissue, as well as progressively inhibit the production of joint fluid known as synovial fluid. Just ask Curt Schilling how it feels to walk up and down stairs!

All of that after enough beers to turn this forum into a karaoke machine, very impressive sir. I have had a few cortisone shots so I dont feel it much, sounds like you may have had your fair share.

An ankle injury is NOTHING like a back injury. This is nothing close to the mystery and problem that Gaither's back problem is/was.

I don't think analysts need Flacco to prove he can dominate horrible secondaries(as you so thoroughly pointed out)... I think they need to see him start leading the offense to touchdowns regularly against the better defenses, and of course... not turn the ball over in the playoffs.

I thought this thread was about Evans? Anyways, while he has been far from impressive, time will tell if he picks his game up or not. I think he will improve as the year goes on.

just what we did not need, another gaither. Mr. mystery aches and pains + i want to be paid but do not want to earn it. Gaither was a waste of talent and space. The only bumb the ravens ever signed.

I don't think it hurts us. Dickson and RR both should have huge games. They have to respect Torrey after last week and you know Boldin will draw huge interest. Things should open up underneath very nicely. Especially when they cheat up to try to stop the Vonta/Ray/Ricky Train!

I have this huge fear that Evans' ankle is chronic, which, obviously, would not be good. I said this 2 weeks ago and got slammed, so I apologize if you are a big Lee fan. Not something I'm hoping for.
