The Trade Block

138 posts in this topic

With the NFL trade deadline looming in a few weeks, I thought we could discuss trade rumors and scenarios here.
This is mainly meant for Ravens trade possibilities, but other team discussion is welcome also.

I'll get it kicked off. Aaron Curry is on the block. Where will he end up? Should we be interested?

We should keep ourselves open to trading Levoir. If we have to use him again we might as well just leave an open space there.

LeVoir needs to see the door.

If we traded LeVoir, we would have to give them a pick to take him from us. I wasn't very impressed with his start against the Titans.

I'm not into the idea of trading for Curry. I like our group the way it is now. I would only trade a late pick for a cornerback, and even then I'm not sure. I think I our team is pretty solid. If anything, I would like us to trade one of our players to get some draft picks, but I don't see that happening. Maybe we can still trade Foxworth? What GM is dumb enough?

I don't think anybody would give us anything for him.

Usually in a trade, both sides need to give up something half way decent to get halfway decent.

I don't really think we have a glaring need. OLine and Dline depth is always good and I guess another corner but Jimmy will be back soon enough.

I guess a Middle linebacker would be great as well.

Exactly. We trade LeVoir for the fact that we no longer have LeVoir. That's halfway decent.

Pretty crazy Aaron Curry is going to be on the trade block because he was considered one of the safest picks in the 2009 draft. Now he's going from a top 5 pick to only being worth a 6th rounder...

If he could resurrect his contract, I'd give up as high as a 4th round pick for Curry. The guy definitely has amazing talent, and a change of scenery might do him wonders. Especially in a place like Baltimore. Plus its not like we have anything at ILB at the moment anyways.

Ray is getting older, Ellerbe is injured, Ayanbedjo isn't great and McClain isn't looking too sharp himself. We need to look toward our future at LB if we were to make any trade.

Jimmy
Cary
Lardarius
Chris
Chykie
Danny

Those first 4 our pretty darn good corners, Chykie could go in at a pinch and Danny is a project. I just don't see us trading for a corner at this point from a realistic stand point.

We could always use a corner but middle linebacker position is struggling next to Ray at the moment. I will say OL depth could be better and maybe DL (even though I love those guys up front depthwise: mckinney, art, pernell) but I think we are fine at Corner for time being.

it is almoat realistically impossible for our oline and dline to get any deeper..
Secondary and linebacker will be areas to address in the future but we all knew that was comin anyway

Curry restructured his contract at the end of August, which could make his acquisition a little more feasible for any interested parties. He's agreed to give up a staggering $5 million in 2012, however, his reported base salary of $5 million in 2011 could serve as a deal breaker for those teams.

Eh, I'd say we have a solid project at OLB in Kindle, but Curry would be good insurance at a decent price, his talent is undeniable it may just be the system/work ethic with which he is struggling

I think Aaron Curry would be a tricky venture, he could end up like vernon gholston or he could resurrect a promising career he is still very young ,and if I remember correctly there was a lot of chatter here to get him.

Side not:I was on a jets board just reading what they thought about the game, and some idiots in there are saying maybin is going to have a big game containing RR, seriously aaron frekin maybin. If that is their plan they are hunting.

If we can't find a way to activate a promising linebacker of our own in Kindle then I don't see an awful lot of point in trading for Curry. I thought he'd be more suited to play OLB in the 3-4 than ILB?

wasn't he recently cut from the Jets, then resigned?

OLine could always get deeper! Mainley get rid of Levoir and sign someone else but still lol

Corner is not that big of a need. I doubt we could get someone in here better than Jimmy, Cary, and Webby

in that case we should trade him to the eagles, I'm pretty sure an open space can tackle better then their LB's

No thanks. Aaron Curry is a bust. He was given every opportunity in the hawks' and he stunk. When his released, he might be PS worthy. Seriously.

honestly its hard to claim him a bust being 2 years in with a sub .500 team and switching defensive coor. twice already in is young career just saying. most of the people on here have no idea how to evaluate talent. Let alone the fact that just 2 weeks ago the majority of the people were throwing in the towel and claiming torrey smith a bust ,now given the time to play and be a starter almost everyone has turned into jock riders

Well, it is also important to note that Curry lost his starting job. In other words, its not just a matter of him not living up to lofty expectations, he has performed so poorly that a defense that is already bad as it is thinks they have a better alternative to Curry. The system can only be blamed for his performance to a certain extent...especially when you consider why Curry was drafted so high in the first place. One of his main selling points was his diversity and being a complete player with few holes in his game; so it is natural to assume that he should have little trouble adjusting to any scheme.

Everything about this. now people are back tracking on Smith after one game, which I guess is fitting because after one real game tehy were saying he was terrible. However I never called the guy a bust he said he needed more time. AS for Curry I think he MAY be great here with some stability and good coaching finally.

Also lets not act like Seattle is great with personnel management or coaching for that matter so he may just not be getting what he needs out of a coach.
