This is bs on a whole other level! Just for this performance alone, Smith would be worthy of the ROTM award imho. 5 recs for 152 yards and 3 TDs on his first 3 career receptions... and he doesn't deserve the honor??

I'm not even THAT big of a Torrey fan but give the kid some love! Even Randy Moss on his rookie year would be jealous of this performance! And to lose to a guard just because McFadden tore up the Jets' D??.. If anyone (not really) it should be the WRs making the blocks downfield for McFadden's huge runs or the Ts, not a freaking inside guard!

I hope Torrey sees that as a challenge and continues from where he left off against an overhyped Jets secondary...

Hopefully, he could care less, realizing it's just a matter of more fan votes, not actual impact of performance.

Torrey needs to build on last week's game and continue to gain confidence. What a great thing it would be for him to get behind the jets secondary and catch another TD!

To answer your question, guards have a HUGE impact on outside runs. In fact, if you know anything about offensive line, you'd know that. Guards tend to pull around on outside runs, and if not, they either clear out the linemen, or down block onto the linebacker. Their responsible for sealing off the linebackers so the runnng backs can do their thing. I'm bittersweet about a guard winning it. It's great to see a fellow linemen win rookie of the week, especially since I've never seen an offsnsive linemen win any kind of award, but Torrey deserved it. Torrey did deserve it.

I'm not hating on guards but when a player plays a position like WR and stands out that much, he deserves to get an award based on individual performance. Sure, Wisniewski might be a great guard but McFadden's performance lies on the collective performance of the offensive line.. I think it's quite unfair to single out just one individual for the rest of the line. Just my opinion....
