Ravens Lover

Eagles?

So I've been really surprised with the shaky start the Eagles have had, I know its still early in the season and success on preseason paper doesn't usually match what really happens, but I still expected more out of them then they're showing so far.

Not surprised one bit. Its widely known that they have a horrid offensive line and sunk all of their money on the outside DB's. Their safeties are average, at best, and their LB's are horrendous!!

Vick is overrated, no question about it. And now he's double hurt. Their O line is terrible in pass blocking. Andy Reid still makes a lot of mistakes managing the game, and terrible play calls. I said it before, and this Giants game proved it. LeSean is the key. The running game is the key to driving that offense.

And to be flat honest with you, their defense is beatable as well. Nnamdi and co. are capable of being burned in the passing game, you just need tall, physical receivers who can go up and get the ball from them (See Cruz and Julio).

True, they really dont have much of a pass rush or anything to compliment there dbs, and even the best can only cover for so long

I would hate to think that what I'm seeing from the Philadelphia Eagles so far is a harbinger for what's ahead, but I have the feeling this season may not turn out as I had hoped.

I told my friend and also my brother-in-law that a dream team needs to happen on Sundays, not on paper. Vick just cant stay on his feet and its looking like its going to be a long, painful season for him....and a painful season for Vick most likely translates to a painful season for the Eagles. We shall see.......

Just wanted to dig this up and say "Way to go Dream Team!!"

Thank God for our D last night and for little Ray. If we had been playing a better run defence and had to air the ball out all night we would have been in big trouble. No completions in the 2nd and 3rd because of short and long passes and still managed to win large?? Thats a crazy string of luck I don't want to keep riding. I think Joe is taking too much time running around like Ben trying to make heroic throws. He needs to tuck that ball in tight when he commits to running with it. And long bombs aren't the answer when the game is close (before Webbs int. TD). I'm glad he's come out of his shell and is showing some arm but he's got to be quicker with the throws and smarter when he realizes he has no options. Just sayin. Love you Joe GO RAVENS!!!

Casey Matthews is not an NFL player, well not yet anyway

I'm glad we didn't draft him, he was hyped a lot around here before draft day
If he had the same Work Ethic as his entire family, I would have loved to have him. We would not have excepted him to start but living in the gym for 3 years learning under ray for 2 and playing with suggs for 3, This would have been the absolute best place for him as an instinctive LB.

Apparently thats what happens when I drink to excess, sleep 5 hours, and get woken up by a guy coming to fix my dryer. Go figure.

The Dream Team is falling apart... didn't Andy Reid and the Eagles Front Office learn anything from Dan Snyder? Money doesn't equal Championships. Say it with me.... Money doesn't equal Championships... Money doesn't equal Championships.

I really think that Wide 9 is killing them and playing right into their weakness. Their LBs arent very good especially with a Rookie playing in the middle. Teams can gash them for an easy 4ypc on the ground. Also, their scheme for the defensive backfield is killing them. Nnamdi is struggling in zone coverage. Andy Reid always screws the pooch and this time its his choice of a defensive coordinator that just cannot build a scheme to his players strengths. I wonder what Rex Ryan or Chuck Pagano could do with that talent pool?

All in all, Philly should have learned from their division rivals that you cannot buy a title, but now the tides changed and Washington is building through the draft and Philly is crippling its team in the long run for short term success that they will not find because of an incompetent Defensive Coordinator and the blind eye they turned to their offensive line. Dream Team? I'll see you in my nightmares

It's probably safe to say that, however, I think that their insistance in making him play zone rather than man might play a role in his subpar performances.

I think its safe to say that spending all that money on Nnamdi has turned out to be a bad move for the Eagles

Revis would have gotten the tackle............and I'm the one who thinks that Nnamdi is better.

I've been saying that Nnamdi is the best for years, but this season has silenced me.

And yet next year whoever scoops up the 2012 crop of FAs will be crowned and the same thing will happen again. I'm wondering when people will learn.

Why the Eagles don't blitz and run zone all the time baffles me. Why don't they make Michael Vick an offensive linemen too? I mean they play to the strengthens of their players so well...?

...sometimes its just the system/situation. Look at Hasselbeck. Who would have thunk that?

I think it would depend on which team it is. If it were like the Jaguars or 49ers or someone like that, I'm not sure. But since it's the Eagles, NFC East rules all, yeah, they become the "Dream Team."

Trent Cole and Jason Babin are one of the better pass rushing duos in the league.

Too bad for them Cole went down.

To me the Eagles problems mostly stem from their D. They failed to acquire a real MLB which is hurting them, but other than that I think their biggest problem was hiring Juan Castillo as their DC. He has NEVER been a defensive coach, and when things go badly he doesn't have the knowlewdge to fix it. He is also misusing his players IMO. Nnamdi and DRC are press-man corners but they aren't being used that way.

They also have issues at OL, but the D is much more of a problem IMO.
