Officially Renouncing My Cam "hater" Status

139 posts in this topic

After a very good showing the last few weeks of last season, I was hopeful it was a sign of things to come.

Week one of this season, Cam did a great job leading us to the destruction of PIT.

Despite a couple questionable calls last week in our loss to TEN, it was ultimately great defense and poor execution that killed us. Despite what many of you may say, I think Cam did well last week.

And now, today was far and away the greatest game I have ever witnessed Cam call.

So, gotta give the man his due. He has done an outstanding job with this offense, and am thoroughly pleased with the trust he has put in Flacco.

Well done Cam.

Those bubble screens were nice. It was great to see the Ravens take so many shots downfield, even if the majority of them were not completed, it struck fear into the entire Rams organization.

I was one of the last to go anti Cam and even then I still had one foot in the other camp. Pittsburgh put me back on Cams side again. Games like today further solidify that stance.

After a terrible job last week, Cam really got it going. I think that as long as he has a solid offensive line, he'll be a serviceable OC. Without one he's complete and utter garbage, as he lacks the ability to adjust his scheme accordingly. I believe Cam's offensive concepts work, but I'm still frustrated by his lack of consistency. If he calls games like today and like Week 1 through the majority of the season, I'll renounce my Cam-hater status, but until then I'll remain hopeful that he can get something going for us.

he did call a great game, and i loved that we were throwing the ball deep looking for the endzone or a pass interference call, i hope we see more of this type of play calling in the future.

I don't know if I agree with this at all. They torched the Rams secondary early, but they really faltered after the first quarter. You can't really say they were playing conservatively after then either, as Flacco had almost 50 passes in the game and was passing in the 4th quarter. I don't really think this game was a case of good play-calling so much as the Ravens being a much more talented and seasoned team than the Rams.

In other news, hell has frozen over... hahaha. jk.

Cam has impressed me greatly this season. I was never a hater, but I wasn't a lover either. He's done great now that we've given him weapons.

Actually, I don't think this is surprising at all. Cam is two things: an Air Coryell disciple, and a guy who tries to adapt players to his gameplan rather than his gameplan to players. Last year, we had a slow receiving cops to go with a bad offensive line, which means we couldn't run block or pass protect, both essential in any offensive scheme, but especially Air Coryell where you need a pounding run attack and time to pull off a deep vertical game. This year, we have fast receivers and a solid o-line, which equals better execution because they fit what Cam wants to do.

Still don't like Cam at all. Too inconsistent for me.
He's been pretty consistent so far this year, albeit in only 3 games, but he's looked consistent to me.

I agree, but most people only look at the end score and think it all boils down to the coordinator. Last week was partly due to player execution, but a lot of people don't see it that way.

Agreed on that.

It's amazing. After a couple good games, Cam Cameron is all of a sudden consistent. I find it hard to believe that he's the only reason why we've been successful in two games. Really starting to think that Flacco is calling the shots when he gets up to the line.

He lets Joe doing no hurdle stuff? That's big trust from Cam....

I also like bubble screen pass calls from Cam too. Cam's calls look great when everyone can execute them right.

Cam and Joe look great together....

Don't act like you've never bashed him or wondered about his questionable calls. This board is hilarious. When we win, Cam Cameron is a God and just called the best game of his life. Come on now

I've very rarely, if ever bashed Cam. I've been one of his loyal supporters, even throughout the joke that was the 2010 Ravens offense. I've never been a Cam hater.

I'll be honest I felt the same way. But now we see what his system can do.

Now if we get Lee Evans healthy along with Torrey Smith...

Waaaaaaat?!?!?! lol

Until he messes up or does something worng.Lol. I really have liked the playcalling lately to. Especially all the deep balls we threw to Torrey. When Evans comes back we should keep Torrey in the slot and try that atleast once or twice a game

Actually, I find comments like these hilarious. No one here said Cam is god. It is a simple act of giving a man recognition for a job well done. I won't begrudge him that just because he was awful last season; even if others hate on him just for the sake of hating.

And if you can name a better planned and called game during his time here with the Ravens, I'd love to hear about it.

I find topics like yours hilarious, because you're one of the many fans on this board that used to bash Cameron nonstop. You always have something negative to say about him, and you can call it joking, but you still meant it. Every time the Ravens win a game, Cameron is loved and a topic just like this is made. It's almost inevitable.

Obviously you dont read a thing I say about Cam. Every week this season I have done nothing but compliment him. I've always given him credit when he deserved it, and hated on him when he sucked.

Where were you last week when I was defending Cam after the loss even though everyone else was complaining about him?

He isn't any god as far as I am concerned. I see a game like today or two weeks ago and I automatically assume someone else is making the calls. Joe has to be doing some audibles for things to run so well, right? I will reserve my repeal of "Cam is an idiot" until nearer the end of the season, thank you. If things go this well for the most of our games then I will be happy to eat a plate of crow, until then...

Yeah dude, obviously you dont read a thing I say about Cam. Every week this season I have done nothing but compliment him. I've always given him credit when he deserved it, and hated on him when he sucked.

But since you can read minds and you know what I'm REALLY thinking, you already knew that!
You used to get on his case relentlessly since he came here. You're actually the first person that comes to mind on this board when I think about the people that have always disliked Cameron. <Deleted> If you all of a sudden like Cam, that's on you, but I have an opinion as well.

I never criticized your comment. All I did was offered my own then you said my comment was hilarious. Im not being sarcastic and I haven't said anything sarcastic. <Deleted> I don't like Cam Cameron, probably never will.

just think all the cam haters should keep in mind play calling and player execution are different things. When jim leland puts Justin Verlander on the mound and verlander gets shelled noone runs to say Leland is a bad manager or verlander should be traded. Sometimes players just dont execute and thats what happened against the Titans. Cam has called 3 great games and we see how good we can be when we execute and how bad we can be when we dont. Our execution needs to become more consistent this year not cams play calling in my opinion
