Michael Vick Rips Refs
"I was trying to protect myself," Vick said in his postgame news conference. "Still didn't get a flag and that's pretty much been the story for the last three weeks. I mean, obviously at some point something catastrophic is going to happen and I broke my hand."
I would seriously have to "lol" if the refs are intentionally no-calling late hits on Vick. I doubt that is the case though and he is most likely just whining.

The funniest part was that at the end of his statements he said "But I'm not going to complain about it"
hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

I was hoping for him to say "I don't get the kind of blocking that other QB's in my division get". Someone should just flat out tell him- "Vick, you're a running back".

If the Eagles had an OL that could keep him from taking big hits constantly like this, then he'd have little to complain about.

No, he'd find something. Last year it was Andy Reid speaking for him about how people would tackle him hard once after he left the pocket and took off.

Any QB leaving the pocket becomes a target as soon as he does so.

I couldn't even believe what I was seeing while I was watching his statement.
It's flat out disrespectful. He knows what to expect coming into everygame. How is this season any different then the last? He's such an idiot.

Doesn't Vick know only Tom Brady gets penalties whenever he calls for them?

I understand why Vick was whining, but he needs to understand he's not a real quarterback. If he wants to be treated like a QB, stop acting like a running back who can throw occasionally. Based on his stats this season, he should be throwing very occasionally...

He should be Ben or Joe--give me a break
Yeah. He has a point that QB's not named Brady don't get the protection the NFL advertises...but he of all people should not be championing the call. Cutler and Joe would be the 2 with the most substantial arguments imo.

I would have to agree. If Cutler survives the season it will be a miracle. It doesn't help that people generally don't like Cutler, and Flacco isn't a big moneymaker for the league.

It's interesting to see how now that Vick has got a starting gig and is making his millions and getting back his endorsement deals, he seems to have lost some of that new-found humility he supposedly gained from his "unfortunate times". Pointing at the scoreboard to taunt his old fans in Atlanta (in a game which the Eagles lost lol), complaining about refs this week.

I've noticed that he doesn't get the special treatment that other QB's get, but he should let other people speak for him if thats the case.

Agreed. When he said that my head shaking turned into face palming. That turned his whole rant into a joke.

in fairness though he got drilled everytime he threw the ball from the pocket yesterday.. he has a point, along with a few other qbs, i just wish he said tom bradys name... hes stating the truth, there would have been mulitple roughing the passer flags if it wasnt vick in aat qb. cant have on erule for someone and another for a diff qb just because they can take the beating.. eg vick flacco, culter big ben...

Just a moment of frustration. The guy gets a concussion one week, boken hand the next. Very frustrated then the media flood gates are open and its just frustration talk.

It's like saying "No offense, but -something offensive-"

Maybe if Vick quit leaving the pocket and scrambling then he wouldn't get hit as hard. Then again, the Eagles would have to block for him.

Just read something interesting (and I'll honestly try and remember where I read it):

that when Vick leaves the pocket like he does, he becomes a runner and the rules for hits on runners are different than they are for passers...

it's his playing style that's putting him in danger. He has zero right to complain. He set himself up for stuff like this.

http://sportsillustr...eek3/index.html there it is...first page of the MMQB

He also listed Torrey as one of his offensive players of the week.

Usually this is the case. But this year his O-Line has been atrocious and he is suffering tons of hits in the pocket. His broken hand play came in the pocket. He isn't talking about his running plays outside the pocket but the hits inside.

On the verge of breaking down, its coming. Maybe the Eagles should have spent all that cash on a OLINE? This dude is FRA'JILAAAAYYY! Most of the time, I see the refs picking him up off the field.

Good point. So I bring attention to what I said earlier in the thread...if he had an OL in front of him, he wouldn't have any reason to complain. :)

Yep. They spent all their time focusing in on positions they didn't really need (CB, RB, WR) and neglected the positions that are killing them (OL, LB).

To me that sounds more light a nightmare. Fix the lines, you fix everything. Just look at our play when we get good O-Line play.

I keep smiling at our O-Line since week 1 but really didn't publicly advertise it. I'm supersititious about jinxing......

The media call the Eagles is the dream team: more likely the doom team. History tells 99.9% NFL team don't need a shutdown corner to win a SB.....

I don't see the Eagles going to the playoffs for awhile; it's not easy to find a good OT from FA or if there is one, they dont have enough cap space to do it. They have to do through the draft which isn't happening when the Eagles fans want to win SB this year.

you can blame his OL yes, but hes still getting hit way late INSIDE the pocket, yes when he runs its different, but when inside the pocket he should have the same rules as all other qbs named tom brady

It's a lame excuse, really.... It's a balance.. You hear people say, the game is getting soft and they should be wearing skirts.... Then you hear crying about when guys get hit. The NFL is trying to find a balance ( or so I hope). You don't hear Flacco crying ..do you? He gets dumped late, pretty often. It's about frustration for Vick, he's a little gun shy right now and his O-Line is bad.

I wouldn't use Flacco as an example, a better example would be Jay Cutler. Here we have Michael Vick complaining and whining about getting hit late while Jay Cutler takes way more sacks than anyone in the league dating back to next season, and he hasn't said one word about it. He hasn't complained one bit, and to top it off Rich Eisen said if he keeps getting sacked the way he does he'll pass David Carr for most times sacked in a single season. He's getting sacked out there like David Carr and he doesn't complain one bit, yet here we have Vick who complains for a few late hits.

Hey Vick... Take the Skirt Off, Stop Complaining, Man Up & Tell Andy Reid to give you a Better Offensive Line!

as i said earlier i think you can put flacco and big ben in along with vick in that they get hit and never ever get a flag, tom brady gets him three refs throw a flag, if they are trying to find a balance on it there not doing a good jb, just becuase these qbs can take hits and get back up and take another does that mean they shouldnt get the flags?? no it doesnt, its clear the some of the licks these three in particular and jay cutler take, arent treated the same as other "hits" on some other qbs... yes he was frustated, if they won the game he doesnt say it, but that doesnt take away from the truth he speaks.
