Some teams don't let their players take time outs. That's pretty much just the defense's way of saying they need Coughlin to stop the clock.

I'm meh about it. Obviously, it's unsportsmanlike yet a supreme show of gamesmanship... but there's nothing the NFL can really do. They were tossing this concept around on ESPN and a lot of the pundits said the refs should have the discretion to decide whether a player is faking injury or not a penalize them... that's a slippery slope, especially when referees are not 100% accurate.

Unless a player or team admits they were faking, there's not much they can do.

Wish some team would do that against us, because it would mean we are running the hurry up offense effectively.

Like berad said, it's really nothing the NFL can do, I mean how can they judge if a player is faking or not. If they do that, it will result in penalizing a team for a real injury and other teams who fake it would get away with it. Honestly, even though it's not sportsman like conduct it's not that bad of a idea.

This really angered me when I saw it live, and it still bugs me when I think about it. Deon Grant was so blatantly faking the injury it was almost a joke. The sad part is it actually worked and they held the Rams to a FG.

I agree its often almost impossible to judge what is a fake and what isn't, but when its blatant I feel that at the very least an unsportsmanlike penalty is called for. I would go so far as to say an ejection could be warranted if its as obvious as the Grant fake. It shouldn't be a part of the game. Just take a timeout!!

I saw the highlights of this and they went down like a line of soldiers in a Civil War reenactment. It's disgusting though, really. Sad too.

Saw somewhere that the NFL issued a statement to the teams about faking injuries. As said by others, how can the league really enforce it though?

Its 98% uninforceable, and even that remaining 2% is highly subjective. If any thing it will not effect the game. Its not a quick decision thing. Really its all just sad and pathetic.

Jay Glazer just said on FOX that some coaches have told him that they practice faking a injury, and they designate one guy to fake a injury. So apparently this is something teams work on.

This has always been a part of the game. I don't know how this comes as a surprise. Players do it as early as HS football. As unclassy as it is, it's good strategy, and has always been a part of the game.

It's not a big deal because they have to sprint down the field after trying to sack a player who they are barely allowed to touch. Roger was talking about possible lose of draft picks over something like this, that might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

If someone flops, I feel the other team should pick a player on the flopping players team's defense and make them sit out for five snaps. That should be fair. Just my take.

This is a oooooold practice (that most use ... less obviously than the Giants). The Pats used to do in the early 2000's CONSTANTLY which led to a rule change inside 2:00.

How everybody is so surprised by this amazes me more than the actually situation. Most teams employ this. It's very effective in slowing down the opposition without calling a TO.
