Your username has struck again! It's not time to be thinking about contracts. Also, if it took this long to get Ngata signed, it's gonna be impossible to resign Rice and Flacco "now", as much as I'd like for that to happen. I hope Grubbs doesn't get franchised, but if I had to pick one of the three to franchise it'd be Grubbs. The other 2 would just be way too expensive. But, all three need long term deals. ASAP.

Rice's contract will be easy to do. Give him slightly under what CJ2K got from the Titans, so Rice will likely get a 5 year 50 mil contract. I wouldnt give Flacco over 7 or 8 a year as it stands right now. Grubbs will likely get around what Yanda got.

Thats probably about right. I just hope Flacco doesn't get franchised, that'd be expensive man.

Ya I agree. I think Rice or Grubbs would be good to Franchise though because they are among the best in their position.

Flacco has until the end of next season before this becomes an issue. We need to lock up Rice for 5 or 6 years. Grubbs will be the next signing after Rice.

I'd franchise rice if I had to choose between the three.

Grubbs is an all pro OL and needs to be locked up, especially considering the possible instability at Center and LT next season.

Flacco still hasn't done enough for me to believe he deserves top dollar and a franchise tag is top dollar.

Rice is a special talent and his franchise tag # would be the cheapest of the three (using 2011's numbers)

Of course those numbers for RB could change with Chris Johnson and Adrian petersons deals.

Quarterbacks: $16 million ($16.4 million in 2010)
Running backs: $9.5 million ($8.15 million in 2010)
Offensive linemen: $10.1 million ($10.7 million in 2010)

Consider this.... Rice & Grubbs are both in their contract years now. Joe is under contract until the end of next season. So if we can get Rice under contract before the end of the season or before the off-season than Grubbs would be a good candidate for the Franchise Tag but if not we may have to tag Rice just so we don't risk losing him.

Sign Rice, wait for Flacco's last year and franchise Grubbs. I would rather they sign Rice and Grubbs, but I do not think they will have the money.

Since when is it cheaper to Franchise someone? The tag is a last ditch resort to ensure we keep a player that we can't quite come to terms with, but it is going to hit the cap harder than signing someone to a long-term deal. I think you are right though, Rice will be the number one priority. Hopefully we can get Grubbs done, and maybe even Flacco too. Generally Franchise QBs are extended before going into their last contract year, but the FO may ask Flacco to bite the bullet if the cap situation is looking ugly.

He might have turf toe, which is the same chronic injury that ended JO. Also theres this thing called the salary cap, Flacco and Rice aren't going to come cheap.

Id go with Grubbs, Flacco and Rice are to valuable to risk a franchise on (not that Grubbs isn't), but out of the three Grubbs is the one Id be willing to risk the franchise with the most

Yeah... who replaces him? That's a mystery, ain't it? We already saw what happens when you lose a valuable OL. Do we want another repeat of last year? I'll take a pro bowl OL over a pro bowl RB every day of the week.

Well, in theory that sounds great, only Ben Grubbs isn't a pro-bowl OL. It still all depends on his injury.

Honestly i voted for Grubbs, not because i think we need him the most. I just see Flacco and Rice being more Loyal. I hope that made sense.

He has been voted as a alternate to the pro bowl, if that means anything, and he's certainly pro bowl caliber when healthy.

I think it would be cheaper to franchise Grubbs than sign him, I may be wrong.

I dont think so, but I dont know what the exact numbers would be for the Franchise Tag. I know some of the top Guards make a lot of money: Nicks, Mankins, Joseph, Yanda, Evans. I think the Tag will be somewhere in the range of 7M+ for a Guard. We can probably do better with a Long-Term deal and then we also have the ability to structure the contract to create as much cap space as possible where needed.

Either way, I still do not think we will have the money to keep him. Although, the wizard of OZ could pull another rabbit out of his hat. I hope. I would hate to lose the guy.
