They got pepper-sprayed, they made a hole.

Note to self.....provide our O Line with pepper-spray dispensers in their helmets.

LOL, that would get the Jags out of the way.

naw! i like it because of the tradition. however, for the Ravens? absolutely not!

1. it takes too long before a game
2. and IF the team does this every game and then LOSE....they will look foolish and be the laughing stock of the nation

NO!!

Imagine Haloti leading the Haka, oh my gosh. Would be a spectacle.

Our fans would love it. Gotta admit it.

Think the commissioner would even allow it?

An honest question: does Haloti have any connection to the Haka? To my understanding, Haloti is Tongan and the Haka is Maori tradition.

EDIT: looking into it a little, I don't think he, or Tongans in general, have any connection to the dance. Now I may be totally ignorant of it but...

Well, its evolved somewhat, and still evolving. I am no cultural expert but, the guy whom started the phenomenon was culturally tied to it I believe. I say haloti because he really is a soft spoken badass, and he just fills that roll.

Now, its become adopted by many teams, even if they're culturally tied to the Haka's cultural history or not. Has really nothing to do with a particular persons cultural ancestry. Since, it is now a new thing created in this point and time and not history any longer..

It would be interesting to see a Ravens version of it.

I don't understand this. I would just find it strange for it to be done when Haloti, seemingly, has no connections to it.

EDIT: looking back on this now-merged thread, the "Sipi Tau" - not the Haka - is a Tongan war dance. It'd be more appropriate if Haloti did that...

Why would it be strange? Haloti is a leader on this team, he would be an excellent choice, so would Ray, and Ed. But, to really see emotion out of Haloti would be badass. To hear his booming voice on the field would be awesome. He just fits the character the most I think. A leader, manly, soft spoken normally, and its something people can relate to commercially speaking. To be politically correct with a Sipi Tau would be ok too.

Also, it would be neat to point out about how the NFL is talking about branching out to Europe as a topic.

It would be strange if Haloti did the Haka because he has no connections to it. And it's not "politically correct" with the Sipi Tau - it's just regular correct.

Again, you're confusing cultural history with modern day culture. Just because a Korean likes to dance the chacha doesn't make it wrong or strange because they're not Cuban...

Personally, I think you need to open up a bit to the world, and stop looking at things so greyscale.

Even so, Sibi Tau is just as good imo, but, it shouldn't be wrong to do something because its fun, either way.

Is Ngata Maori? If so, he's more than sutied to do so. Otherwise, he;s probably more appropriate to pull off something from Manu Samoa, Tonga, etc (not sure what his heritage is).

Would be awesome if the Ravens did it - properly and treated with respect though.

Its awesome to see, but can you imagine the Ravens doing this to the Steelers before a game? We'd be a laughing stock.....

Laughing stock? A 90% winning record over 25 years against THE EBST international competition says otherwise.

One of the "worst" seasons for the All Blacks - is "only" a 75% winning percentage.

Only those who are ignorant would consider to laugh at it (or any other pre-game ritual). Which is why the TO mocking of Ray Ray's dance annoyed me soooo much.

Now for one of the more intense pregames of all time... the haka vs the sipi tau:

No way the Ravens do the Haka... it's a sacred Maori war dance. Not a Football warm up.

Any other ruggers on these boards?

Nice man. I played open side in college... torn ACL & med+lat menisci, boxers fracture (guess how haha), and herniated disk... never regretted it for a minute.

Saturday's a rugby day, but have fun on Sunday and rep us well.

Respect. Flankers or any loosies are generally the difference between losing and winning.

I'm not sure you read my post right. It has nothing to do with the All Blacks win percentage. All im saying is if THE RAVENS did that on national television we'd be ridiculed. It's not for us, it's not for American football. Fact.

Don't think so, it takes alot for the media to not be politically correct. Making fun of anything but asian culture for some reason is something they're deathly afraid of.

Please direct me to where I said the media would laugh at us. If we were broadcast on television, the majority of citizens would torch us around the water cooler the next day. I love watching the haka, but keep it out of Baltimore football. Please.
