Was Asante Samuel Expensive?

Guys, listen... the ravens have not found the answer in the secondary, pass rush, or passing offense yet... While on offense and pass rush, I think its just a matter of utilizing ALL of our talent, and calling the right plays/the right schemes, the secondary is still carrying alot of dead weight...

Dont ask me why but we seem to hold on to over-payed, overrated Foxworth, we sat back and didn't even make Josh Wilson an offer, and we signed a Chris Carr???

These poor decisions/mis-management of the CB situation (J.Smith) has opposing offensive coordinators licking their chops... smh

We should be asking about DRC if they're not using him.

Except Ozzie just recently gave up a 4th rounder. I can't see him giving up any pick within the first 3 rounds, which would be the price.

So you're going to completely ignore the fact that the team was executing to perfection in week 1 against the Steelers and claim all is in ruin because of a week 2 performance?

At the moment, because of injury, our CB corps doesn't look pretty, sure, but what's to say that we didn't even make Wilson an offer? He wanted to be a Redskin because he grew up in the area. Foxworth has been suffering from a very serious injury and he's obviously far from 100%. If we had Carr and Jimmy healthy then we wouldn't be seeing much of him but as it is, he's being forced into more action.

With the passing game, it's a bit head scratching that Doss has yet to suit up as he is the most ready to contribute. Other than that we are struggling because of a couple of injuries and a lack of chemistry between Joe and Torrey. It also doesn't help that Grubbs is injured as his impact on our line was clearly evident last week when he was missing.

It's not all doom and gloom like you seem to think it is.

What I am saying is that a legit #1 CB has been our biggest area of concern ever since the days of Roll and McCalister...
We knew this coming into this season, and have yet to address it. We are virtually depending on rookies and guys who never played (Smith, Williams, Brown), and nickle and dime guys (Carr, Webb and Foxworth)...

All I was suggesting is we bring in a PROVEN veteran to balance things out. I understood not making a move as we were working on a deal with Ngata to clear up some cap space, but now we are at least 10 million under the cap, amd with Foxworth taking up 7 million, why not trade/cut him for a guy who can help us win NOW and our less experienced guys can learn from?

The pass rush improving is our best hope right now, but like I said I think we have the players to fix that issue (Kindle, Krugar, McPhee, Jones, Suggs).

As for the Offense, the recieving corps is a little banged up (Evans, Reed), but we still haven't fully utilized other options like having 2 TE sets (Dickson and Ptitta), T. Doss, L. Williams and a speedster in T.Smith...THIS is the time for him to step up and show he is ready to play at this level, I hope to see him step up today.

To sum it up, we have PLENTY of cap space to add the right player or two if necessary... Alot of people talking about the future cap is irrelevant as we know tomorrow wil take care of itself, lets do whatever we can to get a ring THIS year.

How can you possibly think we didnt address CB? We used our first round pick on a CB. Jimmy Smith was very highly regarded coming our of college, and many scouts think he is the best coverage corner in the draft class. Yes, he is a rookie and he is injured, but to say we didnt address CB is completely false. We also drafted another CB with loads of potential and signed Carr who has been a very consistent #2 or slot CB for us. I guess we could have thrown 10M dollars at Jonathan Joseph or Nnamdi, but frankly that would have put us in a very bad position cap-wise.

Samuel's is a zone corner. We ask our corners to play alot of man coverage in our scheme, generally always have.
