Does he play opposite Asante Samuel? ;)

Jimmy is a rookie CB who could be a bust, solid, or a probowl player
Asante is a 4 times pro bowler, 3 time all pro, 2 time superbowl winning corner who has 42 int is 8 years = Avg of 5+ year

Its not even a comparison.[/quote]

That's not what I was trying to get at but that's true too. Money is the only issue there I'm sure. Eagles aren't even using DRC

A few weeks ago we were reading that CB was our strongest position this year. After the Steelers' game, it was the O-line. Now, we are desperate for help in the secondary. I guess that we shut down the Rams and everyone starts talking about the Super Bowl again.

CB our strongest position??? Ive never heard that, in fact I heard the exact opposit... even before J. Smith, and C. Carr's injuries, piss-poor CB play was a big concern in the pre-season... Carr, and Foxworth were giving up like 10-15 yard cushions just letting 3rd and 4th string guys catch balls in front and behind them... tackling was also poor. Webb and J. Smith got beat their share of times too, but Webb is improving somewhat and J. Smith... Well he is a rookie and we chalked it up to communication and knowing his coverage assignments...

Carry Williams was the most consistant CB in the preseason. There was an outcry to cut or trade Foxworth AND Carr before the season even started because of how bad they looked against other teams practice squad and "on the bubble" Wr's.

@ Sunday QB; If what you say is true about the Eagles accepting a 5th rounder and Jameel McClain for Asante Samuels, I say that we should STRONGLY consider this move, as not only are the injuries piling up/making us thin at CB, but the poor play is down right embarrasing.

We NEED to find a solution before its too late... thats just my opinion.

I don't know why people are overreacting so much.

I'm more than happy with Smith, Williams, Carr, and Webb. The only problem I have is Foxworth being on the field way too much for someone so rusty.

I once again, blame most of the problems on our pass-rush. We desperately need a real pass-rusher opposite Suggs, which JJ is not.

Where did you see that? That wouldnt be too bad of a deal, since we have Dannell Ellerbe.

Thanks for that link! I can only hope we pull off a trade lke a 5th rounder, and Zibby... I would trade a 5th and Mclain too but Id rather part ways with Zibby, as we have Nakamaura, and Pollard.

BTW: Are you in the Miami Florida area?

I would have no problem with trading McClain/Zibby and a fifth, since we have Ellerbe and Pollard. If it wasnt for the enormous amount of cap room that Asante would take up, I would be all for this move.

I dont think it can be called overreacting... See we have had poor CB play for SEVERAL years, and the best CB we happen to have since CMac was Josh Wilson... I you re-read my last post you will also see I pointed out our CB's haven't looked good at all this year. This is not a new issue...

If there is a way we can upgrade our secondary we need to make that move! People talk about Sanuels like he is overrated, but I disagree... This is what we know; he is a 4-time pro bowler, who's also a 3-time all pro, and has 2 rings.

How is this not an upgrade?

Lets get him with THIS season in mind... We can cross the Cap-space issues in the off-season. Lets win this freakin ring already!

I must agree with you about the pass rush issues... The secondary would benefit from more consistant pressure on the QB. Kindle, krugar, McPhee, Jones, Pollard... These players showed pass-rushing potential and yet last week we failed to utilize them... So there is plenty of room for improvement.

One thing about Pagono is I sense he really is passionate about improving the D and restoring it back to its days of glory... so there is alot of reason for hope.

Unfortunately, Asante's cap costs don't decrease next year. In fact, they slightly increase over the next few years. There is no way that we could keep Asante... and Flacco... and Rice... and Grubbs... simply put, there just wouldnt be enough cap space, unless Asante renegotiates his contract.

Exactly. That's my point though, all that matters right now is our CB's (and pass rush) are our biggest weak spot, and it is big enough to have a cryptinite effect on our season. We CAN squeeze Samuels on our roster for THIS season so why not? If by giving up a 5th rounder and Zibby means we could bring in a 4 time pro bowl CB and improve our odds of a championship this season that much more than why not pull the trigger??? Do you have any idea how much better that would make the rest of our Defense?

While I agree that he greatly improves our defense, signing Asante doesnt gurantee us a Superbowl. We still have some troubles on offense. And I don't know if trading both a 5th rounder and Zibby would be worth Asante for thirteen games, a few of which he would spend learning the defense. If we could get him to renegotiate his contract or something, then I would be all for it. But trading for him for one season seems pointless.

I would just like to mention, that if we traded McClain, we would have a whopping total of 3 ILB's on the roster. Not happening. Use your brain guys, I know it's in there! The coaches are high on him, get over it. Asante Samuel is over the hill and declining, not worth it for a solid, versatile young LB with upside.

Good points, Im not saying there are any garantee's (other than death, & taxes) but in improves our over-all chances TREMENDOUSLY because it almost makes our D perfect... Also I'd be willing to bet green-backs that he would re-negotiate to play on this Defense and for this organization! He and Harbs are already familiar...

While there are some issues on offense, Im positive we have more than enough talent on that side of the ball to correct them... If we started using 2 TE sets more, 5 Wide-out sets, involve Anthony Allen, Tyrod Tallor (Wild Cat, Fake End arounds options,) use our young talent creatively and appropiately, Doss, L. Williams, D. Reed & Evans get healthy... Offense could/should be explosive!

I'd prefer to not take your insult the wrong way, because I know you didn't mean to be disrespectful.

For the record I prefer to trade Zibby, CB is an issue and Samuels is better than anyone in our secondary not wearing #20

That's good, I really didn't. Just messin around a bit.

I would trade Zibby before McClain, but I don't know if Asante is worth it. He's over the hill, and declining. We're trying to build a dynasty, and relying on old guys just doesn't work.

How does it suck? The best teams are always in a state of "rebuilding" Look at New England. Always rebuilding and reloading, always in the playoffs. The teams that are truly dynasty's are in a constant state of rebuilding.

Thats true, but the Pats have one heck of a coach and a great offense, captained by arguably the best QB in the NFL, as much as I hate to say it :)

My thought is that generally rebuilding years equal falling short. Most teams in rebuilding seasons can't even manage winning records. I know we will have a winning record, and a good one at that, but it being a rebuilding season means that we still have to wait a bit before we reach the peak. And frankly, that cant happen soon enough.
