Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde Again?

12 posts in this topic

After watching our first two games the one thing that popped in my head was, here we go again another Jekyll and Hyde season.

It seems like the team either comes out like a beast, the Hyde. Overwhelming opponents, thrashing QBs, making big plays.

OR

Dr. Jekyll, struggling to get going, missing opportunity after opportunity, looking very....unRaven like.

I guess I would be less anxious if we hit a consistent center of strength across the board.

Maybe I am wrong but it seems to happen more to us then other teams. I wonder why?

I would like to see the Hyde all year if we could please

GO RAVENS!

I dont think today was as much a Jekyll versus Hyde day, I think it was a lot to do with missing key players, and the emotional high from beating Pitts that had us overconfident and distracted.

The team could very well be as inconsistent as they were last season. That remains to be seen.

As far as the result of the game, this is arguably the first true letdown defeat the Ravens have suffered under Harbaugh.

Exactly what I just said on another board.....INCONSISTENCY.....will get us no where except on a couch in February. Need to regroup a figure out WHY this happens game after game, year after year before we can get the problem fixed and become an CONSISTENT ELITE TEAM!

*Jekyll ^_^

At least last season we were in every game. This game got away from us in the second half. We haven't been beaten this badly since the Colts did it in the 2010 playoffs (and that's when Flacco was playing with a bruise the size of China).

I don't know what happened here. There was no urgency. We were basically how the Steelers were last week.

Defintely. Our losses have generally been very close and well fought under Harbs. This one seemed like we barely tried. We arent the only inconsistent team either, we just make a bigger splash when it happens.

The Ravens have generally been good about beating teams we're supposed to beat, so we don't remember how it feels. The Pats and Saints both lost to the Browns last year. The Packers and Bucs lost to the Lions. The Saints, quite famously, lost to the Seahawks when it matter most.

We can bounce back. The question is, will we? Was this a mental issue, or do we have a true personnel problem?

Terrible coaching. The Ravens haven't been consistent since the Harbaugh era. Tired of excuses three straight years in the playoffs mean nothing you beat the Steelers and lose to the Titans. All these additions on offense yet not using them. You just dont know what you will get week in and week out with this team.

I don't really have any idea if it happens to us more than other teams. I watch the Ravens and am forced to watch way too much of the Steelers lol

In all honesty, the Steelers do the Jekyll and Hyde thing quite a bit as well. They just seem to get luckier and get a break here and there to give them a win.

True. When the Browns seem to get the better of them occasionally, you get a sense of that.

If anything, I feel it may have just been over confidence. We just whooped on our rival. We felt good. I doubt the team didn't take them seriously, as Ray Lewis stated in a few interviews, they knew this team was going to be serious.

...BUT TENNESSEE?!

It happens because we are predictable. We prepared for the Steelers for quite a while and Cam drew up a gameplan specifically for them. The Steelers were caught off guard because for them we weren't predictable.
Now we come and face the Titans and Cam goes back to what is comfortable for him which made us predictable again. The other thing I would point out is that we went out and got speed at wideout and we didn't use it, we didn't attempt to use it enough I think. Not today. And the Titans just sat on everything and tightened running lanes. They were begging for a double move by someone and we never took a shot.

Hope we learn from this one.
