MERGED: Positives - Looking on the Bright Side

65 posts in this topic

I can only think of two positives, D. Reed is going to be a good return guy and teams learn alot more from a loss then a win. So next week we'll see a better Ravens team out there. This was hopefully just a wake up call. And to quote our Steeler fans "The Titans played like it was their SuperBowl" :-P

I thought the same last night but after thinking about it, that was the right call. At the time, we were down by 13, needing 2 TDs to win. Kicking the FG only put us down by 10. A TD and a FG are easier to get when time is essential b/c you don't have to get the ball in the endzone 2 times. You just have to get w/in FG range for a chance to tie.

At the time of the field goal attempt we needed 2 scores to win, one of them a TD. And after the field goal attempt we needed 2 scores to tie, one of them a TD. Either way we needed another TD , but with that extra 3 points we needed to get possesion 2 more times in under 8 minutes, when a TD would have meant we only needed to get 1 more possesion. I cannot see how that field goal helped us, considering the time on the clock and the way we had been playing.

I try not to get too down when the Ravens lose a game. But honestly there aren't a lot of things in life that leave a worse taste.

So like many of you I too am left scratching my head on the positives.

I agree that the run D, special teams, and Ray Rice were looking solid. Over-all it wasn't a good game for our offense as Joe missed some throws that he nailed last week. I don't think he ever got on target with Dickson, who is turning out to be a difference maker for our offense. I just feel like we looked very flat on offense, and I wonder how much we are affected by being on the road . We need to be a better road offense, meaning that we need to be more aggressive and play with a high tempo. The Ravens keep saying that they want the offense to play with the same mentality the defense has but we never consistently see that week to week.

All in all a learning experience for sure. Hopefully we all can have that winning feeling once again sooner than later.

I agree, it could have been worse, and it was only one game. We can hardly measure the 2011 team by 1 game. I am willing to wait until the bye to make any sort of determination.

I also think the loss last season against the Bengals was far worse than this one, if only because they were divisional foes.

I do not think anyone seriously believed we would go 16-0 this season, but I bet very few thought we would beat the Steelers (especially that badly). Game 2 is a bitter disappointment, but only one game. Now lets see if we can go 15-1.

Well, at least win the division.

Positive: Cincinatti losing keeps us tied for first in the AFC north with 1-1 (all teams are 1-1) and 1-0 in the division. Yay!
