So it looks like we were wrong, and he had been injured the whole time.

I think we all already knew that. We just didn't realize he was still THAT hurt

Yeah, I've played with a bad knee before and how he acted covering Britt in the endzone on that comeback route is exactly the way I acted on the field. Basically you go to push off and explode on a comeback route like that and you're not making any ground, your knee sort of gives and you get beat.

He didn't get beat deep so much because he could run and had help, but those lateral movements and explosive moments are really basically when your legs just respond, "Nope. Not doing that so quickly." and your brain was just saying, "ON THE DOUBLE. GO GO. FIRE. FIRE." and the knee is like, "Dude, think of my family. Think of my children." and so the calf muscle responds, "Hey, I'm not hurting my guys on this one. Stand down!" and the brain is just shocked, "I'll remember this, calf muscle."

He wont be back NEXT year....if he's not willing to take a MAJOR pay cut. I'm still amazed Ozzie failed soo badly with this deal.

His tenure was a huge disappointment. 20+ million for half a season of good play. He's a nice guy and a fellow Terp but he's probably the worst FA signing the Ravens had. I never thought he was more than a great nickel corner, IIRC the Broncos traded him to the Falcons for a 7th round pick before the Ravens signed him the year after. Parting ways is the best path to get away from this mess.

I think we would have released him in the offseason if he wasn't such a integral
part of the labor negotiations. That's my take

It would have been nice to resign Josh Wilson and cut Foxy but I don't think
management wanted to do this.

If that happened then we would not have had enough room to bring in all the other people we did.

Might be too soon, but one of the worst Ravens free agent signings in a while, considering how much he got, and how little he actually played ...

Everyone knew we overpaid him the minute he was signed but that is how the CB market is. It's supply and demand. He played really well down the stretch in 2009. Maybe he could have picked up where he left of in 2010 but he got hurt. We'll never know.

I personally wouldn't call anyone a bust as a result of injury unless he had a history of it before we brought him in.

Hindsight is 20/20, but Fox is a talented player, a good all-around guy who caught a bad break.
Yep, I still don't think it was a bad signing, just a really, really bad break.

Ya know... I think you're right. We have too much depth behind him making significantly less money. It's kinda like the Gregg/McGahee/Heap situation we had.

Whether Foxy was hurt or not, I wouldn't be surprised if we let him go. We have great young corners that can only get better. Also, Foxy's conservative, off coverage doesn't really fit what this defense is trying to do. Time to move in a new direction.

I think while Fox is on IR he will use his vast football knowledge to educate our younger corners. Fox's problem wasnt that he didn't know what he was doing, but that he couldnt keep up with whoever he was covering. I do see us releasing Fox next year to open up cap room to sign our big players.

Fox is on IR...he's done as a Raven! especially, with how well Williams has done, the return of Carr and Jimmy Smith. Chykie Brown in the wings and we definitely can't forget the man who has been rockin it....Webb! see ya Foxy!

I made a thread about Foxworth during the pre season and everyone of you guys told me that i was wrong and that we need foxworth, now everyone is saying get rid of him. I told you guys since pre season this guy is a joke of a corner...and the most frustrating thing is that he is making 9 mil. OMG!
Why I've never felt so disrespected in my life. I NEVER said keep foxworth less he was taking a cut. Even then I still wanted him gone to give the younger guys more pt. Should've been gone but isn't, just gotta deal with it at this point. Jimmy will be back soon. Hopefully we keep key secondary players off of st from now on.
