MERGED: Loss To The Titans - General Observations

269 posts in this topic

Offenses are ahead of the Defenses so far this year, all around the league QBs are putting up huge numbers...we saw today that the secondary needs work, guys are injured..they are pretty banged up and they played poorly but the entire team did

3 turnovers....defense cant get off the field all day...

just a real bad day all around, good thing is we get the Rams next week, their OL isnt that good and their defense isnt either..we will bounce back next week...then the Jets come to town and Mark Sanchez isnt any good so we will have to protect Joe...which we should be able to do against their weak pass rush

Putting our guys on an island with Kenny Britt obviously wasn't working. Hopefully they learned a lesson here. Again.
Our defense gameplan was to stop the run. It wasn't working. We didn't make any adjustments when they started throwing all over us. The pass rush was non-existant. Lack of game planning and adjustments on both sides of the ball today.

Don't feel bad at all Ravens. The better team lost today. Steelers are notorious for showing up for one game and then not the next. The Ravens will be back... it's all about being patient.

id actually normally think that this was a quite annoying post, but somehow i find it quite mending... thanks

It was a bad game all around. Flacco was bad, the running game was bad, the receivers weren't getting open consistently, I haven't a clue why Levoir was playing instead of Gurode but we'll never know if he'd have made the difference for the offense today. On D, no pressure, poor coverage, some missed tackles and giving up big plays will always leave your offense with a lot of work to do.

I believe that was an anomaly of a performance, just like week 2 last year.

If you can't get after the QB you can't force turn overs... we had no sacks and had no real pressure on Matt. It was a strange game, to watch and embarrassing at the same time. I take nothing from those Titan guys, but year after year we say our team is better, but it preforms at the same level. Joe Flacco? I won't even go there or rant on him yet, I will see what he does next week.

Its just the same ole ravens, if our defense doesn't carry the team we lose games.

Flacco or the play calling STILL suck against zone defense. Hard to tell which one it is.
man its not all on Joe, the OL didnt protect him that well, one of the INTs was a tipped ball not his fault

the entire team was flat, our WRs STILL cant get separation that is a concern man...we will turn it around next week and trash the Rams

Some people thought last week's performance indicated we'd go 16-0. Those same people think this week's performance indicates we'll go 6-10... It's a long season, folks.

whoever thought that was lying to themselves, the Steelers werent that bad as u saw last week and there is no way the Ravens defense will play that caliber of game every week..7 turnovers just doesnt happen very often

The Ravens are better than they showed today, it sucks but its not on one guy..the entire team was flat

Ehh. It's Week 2. Team's 1-1. No big deal.

The team did a complete 180 in this game from last week. Time has shown that, more often than not, the Ravens win games they're supposed to win. This was one of those rare weeks where the team didn't get the job done.

Onto St. Louis.

1) our offensive line is not the same without Grubbs

2) our secondary was poor, mostly Foxworth, but we coulndt stop Britt.

3) no pass-rush. We got some hits/hurries, but no consistent pressure.

4) titans converted 3rd downs while we did not.

5) bad turnovers, its hard to win when you lose the TO battle 3-1

Don't want to overreact. Just way disappointed. This game felt a lot like last year's Cincy meltdown (also 2nd game of the year). I listened on the radio while doing yardwork and pretty much at NO time during the game did I want to run inside and turn on the TV.

Let's hope for a vast improvement in the coming weeks.

That tipped ball was because Finnigan was a step ahead of Dickson and was deflected by Finnigan, so yes the interception was Joe's fault because the ball shouldn't have been thrown. But I'm not going to blame the loss on him.

For us to come out and look so dominant on defense against the Steelers, then come to Tennesse and get absolutely destroyed is a mystery to me. I can't wait until Smith comes back from his injury, because I have said time and time again, FOxworths' on function on the Ravens is a NFLPA rep. He was picked apart repeatedly. And on offense we have one of the fastest guys in the league and we would rather dink and dunk. Can anyone shed some light on it, maybe I am not seeing clearly

Our offense was poor. We werent ready, we need to beat St. Louis next week. We are still first in the division. Titans showed they are a good team. We need to do better.

I seriously doubt he locks down Britt.

But i agree with your point, hes got no business being on ST. And foxworth has no business being on our roster.

I bet he doesent allow whar foxworth and cary did

The only reason we lost the game is because our corners were below average, and their corners played above average. All our WR were covered, Theirs were not. Its not cams fault, flaccos fault, WR fault.. did you even watch the same game as me?

Im talking about our defense in that post....and how all across the league offenses are ahead of the defenses, we played great last week, came out flat this week and the Titans played great on D, they covered our WRs all day and got pressure pretty much whenever they wanted to

Joe didnt play well, no one did...one of his INTs was a tipped ball, not his fault...the first one was a bad throw

bad game, Ravens will turn it around, u better believe they will be ready next week

yeah, our defense couldnt get off the field, the offense really never found any rythme except for before the half but again the Titans offense had a field day on our D

You might be right. This game was not won or lost in the trenches as much as it was in the secondary.

This is what happens when you are kind of satisfied with where you're at. This is how they played today. They got pushed around, they weren't physical, they didn't tackle, they didn't cover, they didn't do anything they did last week. So now you get punched in the mouth. Hopefully this will be a lesson to the players. That's why it's hard to go 16-0, because every week you have to be better than the week before. We weren't even at 30% of what we did last week. Well deserved loss. Learn from it and move on.

Its not easy to win a NFL game on the road, the Titans played better than we did...simple as that

our schedule is still favorable, you cant get too high or too low after a win or loss guys

if you are honest with yourself u know any team can win any given week

I know its hard to lose any game especially one u think u should win, i get emotionally invested in this team as much as anyone..its no fun losing...but its just 1 game, this is a teaching tool man u know our leaders will step up and this team will be fine

To be fair, the Titans have played well against the Ravens for a few years now. It's similar to how the Bengals defense has always seemed to be the Ravens' kryptonite. They just match up well against the team's personnel.

I saw a lot of good effort but horrendously-failed execution. There were several plays where balls were catchable and tackles should've been made.

Isn't this always the way it is? One week we prove all the criticisms wrong, then the next week we prove all the criticisms right again. We just got outplayed AND outcoached from start to finish. The only thing that kept us in this game was having the "more talented" roster. I wouldn't bother reading too much into one game if this same game didn't seem to happen all the time.
