Ngata Contract Talks

21 posts in this topic

According to ESPN's sunday nfl countdown, Ravens and Ngata havent talked contract in over a month.
Wow, thats pretty disheartening if its true.

Ravens may have 2 loose cannons (Rice and Ngata) and only 1 tag to fill, going into next year's FA. Hopefully they will get Ngata's deal done before Tuesday's deadline, if not, management better look to sign Rice while he is still under contract this season.

No worries. Baltimore has used fa in the past to determine players market value and still retain them. remember ray lew hit fa a few yrs back too

I don't remember, I know he was clearly nearing the end of his career but he was so good for us when he was healthy. did cmac hit fa before he signed that big contract in 04? or were you talking about when he finally annoyed harbs enough for him to not play him

Basically fa or not oz spends for key contributors. Just remember we spent more on leach than what both le'ron and mcgahee signed for. We spent more on mcgahee than what jamal signed for.

He did. I remember talks of salary cap issues leading decision to let jam go then we get willis for more money.

I compare that to this yr. Oz is fairly good at knowing when guys are used up. Nevertheless I am confident ngata and rice are ravens next season

Well that was a different situation. Ray Lewis was 34 and many teams wondered how much gas he had in the tank. Ngata and Rice are in the prime of their careers. If these players hit the FA market, they will have dollars thrown at them.

I do have faith that the FO keep both guys on the team come 2012.

Am I the only who feels like if they don't get something done by Tuesday, the Ravens are going to lose Ngata?
[/quote]
I actually feel the opposite. I think there going to each be signed for sure next off-season. There is no way Oz would let Ngata the best defensive lineman in the league go. Then there is Ray Rice who is a HUGE part of are offense we will lock them each up.

No. We'd tag him again. Ngata would get the tag over RIce and Grubbs.

Isn't there a stipulation in the new CBA that prohibits a player being tagged consecutive years?

I'd believe you but you are absolutely wrong.
Ray got a lot of calls but made it known he was going on vacation and would re-sign when he got home. Numerous stories, including one from dallas, indicating ray was unreachable.

I believe you can be tagged for two years.

i think this could be a bad move... We need Ngata, we need Rice locked up for the rest of their careers... But after the last game, i would say Grubbs is equally as important, he missed his first game sunday in his career and i duno but thats one of the worst Oline performances ive seen, obviously the were other factors eg Recievers not getting open, but we couldnt even run the ball.

Flacco also has said he wants a contract, and unless the ravens "dont" see him as their franchise QB i think hell need paid this offseason too.

One or two will miss out.. I just think they should have paid him and sorted in so if would improve our chances of signing these three next offseason... although in saying that birk and johnson will be off the books, and maybe ray and possinly even ed, hopefully not for the last two but its all possible.. and if Ray isnt retiring we have to resign him aswell.

So who do you value most? were going to lose someone maybe too...
