More Shots At Flacco (Still?!?)

1st....the "BIG" games have playoff and superbowl implications. those are the more pressured games...NOT....a week one win over the steelers. sure, Flacco has won more playoff wins on the road than all of the above mentioned QBs but he still have to produce wins in the "BIG" games (i.e. AFC Divison and Championship games)

2nd...now that we have a O-line that knows how to block for Joe, he will really put up great numbers and then Dilfer and all of the other analysts will be singing his praises. don't worry about this article. we have bigger fish to fry...you know....like the Titans tomorrow.

Ya but what about Josh Freeman? Sure he's led a bunch of 4th quarter comebacks but he has played in exactly 0 playoff games. Whereas Joe has won a bunch. IMO Joe is halfway between Mark Sanchez (won relatively big games but haven't put up great stats and are led by a great defense and veteran squad), Freeman (who has led a young team with a lack of great talent to some comeback victories in the regular season but hasn't gotten his team to the playoffs, yet alone win one) and Ryan (put up the same stats as Joe with more offensive weapons and a strong o-line) . If you're going to pick sides I don't see how Joe is left in the middle here and is "not as good as" those 3 guys.

I could actually see that happening. "Now that Stafford has played an entire quarter of a season, it is clear that he is an elite quarterback in the NFL."
Basically. He was put on "superstar probation" by giddy analysts after this preseason where they are just waiting his breakout moment to crown him a franchise QB.

Freeman had a nice record last yr but only beat one eventual playoff team. Coincidentally that team was ousted first rd too.

Much respect for josh and the two matt's but neither out produce joe. And I too hate how much respect 20 int sanchez gets.

Ya it's just the "new york hype" and Freeman is just a "sexy" QB because he leads a young squad of talented guys and Ryan is just the darling because he is such a smart QB (or that was the impression that he gave at his combine interviews was that he prepared like Manning. Joe isn't really defined and that's why I feel that he doesn't get as much respect. He's just a guy that plays at a fairly high level in a relatively small media market.

I do get baffled over matt ryan being so much better yet same damn stats. Idk.

Freeman had that leadership persona last yr and, my god, it was easy for him.

I think joe's demeanor has outsiders not view him as a leader and with the releasr of mason, joe gets his credit. Similar to eli after tiki

Ability to play doesnt mean you judge qbs well.
Its an opinion, piece, they all are. Even the ones we choose to like.
I dont agree with trent and most importantly joe doesnt care....
Well my opinion is that this list is a joke and Trent Dilfer sucked as a QB. He's hating on a player who is already better than him and has a higher ceiling in his first three years. He's wrong.

I'm a few reports away from just not watching any "analyst" show about football. Just because you played the game for a while, doesn't make you an expert. But, then again, I'm probably wrong because I don't have a SB ring.

Exactly. Like that Warren Sapp fellow. It's like these shows are to get people riled up... ratings and such.

Lol...how many times did the defense bail Dilfer out? He didn't feel the same pressure to put up points, his play wouldn't have been good enough to get us as far as Flacco has gotten us in recent years. The best part is, Flacco's ceiling is as high as anyone's. I would put him first on this list.

Not surprised, Trent is still extremely bitter about how things worked out for him in Baltimore, and i don't really blame him, I mean he won the Superbowl and they brought in someone else; that's pretty weak.

But, Lets not get ahead of ourselves here though, Joe played a great week, but he does still have a lot to prove, it was after all only one week.
Individuals don't win Super Bowl's, teams do.

We won in spite of Dilfer, not because of him. Just like if the Jets ever win another Super Bowl in the next decade, it'll be in spite of Sanchez, not because of him.

Trent Dilfer was no good as a QB and he's no good as an analyst

sure he was on the team when we won a SB..but our D carried us, he made limited plays, Joe is already well ahead of Dilfer and he continues to grow and has shown improvement every year

dont pay any attention to 'expert analysts' i find it especially true for former players..they are pretty much all bad

We have to take our respect by winning the SB. Period...its the only way these stiffs will stop shafting us. Who expected Dilhole..ooops Dilfer to be a homer after he was ejected after the SB win anyway?

We could have had Troy Smith on that '01 team, and he would have offered us more than Dilfer. Lol
To be fair, tony banks did get benched. To me, the qb was so inept that whoever started the year was going to get benched.

If Flacco craps the bed against Tenn, I expect more of the usual.

if Flacco threw 4,000 yards, 30 TDs and no INTs i'd expect more of the usual

:)))))))

Its funny to me that over the last few years, ESPN has relied on Trent Dilfer and Tim Hasselbeck as their "QB analysts." Hahaha, yeah because those two guys really helped define the position and represented the position in all its glory in their days...hahahaha.

I'm going to defend Dilfer a bit. This ranking is only for who he thinks will be the best, not who's the best right now. Also, you don't have to be a good player to be a good analyst. Often time, those marginal players end up being better analysts and coaches because they lacked athletic ability and had to use smarts to close the gaps between themselves and elite athletes.

Now, I'm going to rip Dilfer a new one. I actually don't disagree with his easement of Freeman having the most potential. He has one of the biggest arms along with his rare athletic ability and size. I see him as a Big Ben/Vick hybrid type. Mark Sanchez, seriously? He says Mark doesn't have the best arm and not elite talent, but he ranks him #2 because of his intangibles. When has intangibles ever won a football game? He also praises Mark for picking up a system in one year in college, but the truth is that Mark was actually on the team for four years. Big difference between playing in a system for one year and having an additional three years to pick it up.

Flacco has the best arm strength on the list no question. Only Freeman is even close. I would say Bradford and Stafford have the best touch, but Freeman and Flacco are next in line. In terms of size and athletic ability, I would say its Freeman then Flacco. Its hard to say who has the best football IQ, but I would have to say its Ryan and Sanchez just for the basic fact that they have the worst arms of anyone on the list and the fact they're even playing in the NFL must mean something.

LOL as I said, I don't lie. I suspected he would have trouble with them since they use the cover 2.

I'm going to maintain that I don't think it was reads he was struggling with as much as terrible calls.
