Danny Gorrer Signed Off PS, Jason Philips Waived

Ravens annouce Danny Gorrer has been called up from PS and philips waived to make room for him, must not have overwhelming confindence in fox and brown as depth if the make this move, i thought maybe rotating in naka might have been enough agaisnt a not so explosive titans offense... but not losing to much in waiving Philips

It makes sense. I think, that when Carr and Smith are back, Phillips might be brought back, and Gorrer sent back down. Just my opinion. I wanna see what Gorrer can do though. He looked decent in preseason. He might be good depth.

I'm glad about this. Carr's thing doesn't seem to want to go away and Jimmy is out a month or so. Gorrer looked pretty good in preseason IMO. Sorry for Phillips but that's football.

I'm a was pretty displeased that Phillips made the team over some of the other guys, but I am happy that he is being replaced. I thought Josh Victorian played pretty well in the preseason and I was hoping that we would put him on the PS, but Gorrer played pretty well also. Overall I'm very happy about this and it was quite obvious that we needed another corner just as insurance because Foxy isn't back to 100% and Cary was cramping up last game as well. Go ravens!

Im happy about this move cuz it means I dont ever have to talk to his uncle again. I feel bad for him but its a business an he will find a home some where else.

I did some investigating on how much practice players get paid in 2011.

$5700 a week & if they get called up they are guaranteed 3 games at minimum NFL rookie salary.

A pretty nice chunk of change for getting called up. Pretty interesting stuff.

Yea i was surprised Phillips made the team and not Bynes, to Bynes stood out more.

Danny Gorrer did well in the preseason, I was not surprised that he would be called up from the PS, especially with the injures we're getting in the CB position.

I really like Phillips and think he's a good player, especially on special teams, but I'm not surprised by this. The Ravens have so much depth at linebacker, and injuries have required the calling up of a DB. They weren't going to cut Kindle and it wouldn't be wise to cut a lineman, so Phillips is the odd man out. McClain and Ellerbe are more versatile and Ayanbadejo is a better special-teamer.

I'd be surprised if he clears waivers.

Ya that's what I was saying a lot when the final rosters come out. I was very upset about that one selection in particular.

I thought that both Bynes and Phillips were strong, but Phillips seemed better in pass coverage to me. I guess the time he had put in the system also helped him make the team.

Kenny Britt is an absolute monster when he's not in trouble off the field lol. (I can say that as a Rutgers fan and Jersey native). So we need as many options against him and the offense as possible with a spotty past versus Hasselbeck. But I'm sure Ray Rice will tell you Britt is no joke.
