Start Help

30 posts in this topic

I'm doing fantasy football for the first time, happy I won my game in the first week and scored the most points. Need some help this week with two positions.

For #2 WR would you start Bills S. Johnson or Panthers S. Smith
S. Johnson has the more experienced QB and is aginast a easier defense, but Smith is more talented and has great chemistry with Newton.

For W/R would you start 9ers HB F. Gore or Bengals HB C. Benson
Gore IMO is more talented and usually puts up good numbers. Benson I'm not sold on this year for some reason, but he is against a defense who gave up alot of yards to McFadden and they may lean on him with their QBs. Just don't know if he'll have the same success McFadden had.

First of all, you need to think about the matchups that you are playing against. I would say Stevie Johnson because Steve Smith is going to be playing against the Packers defense. I just really see Newton struggling a lot.

Then Frank Gore plays the tough front 7 of the cowboys which prevented the Jets from running the ball. The Cowboys are going to make the 49ers throw the ball. While Benson plays the Broncos which got run on.

These should be easy decisions if you look at the matchups. Johnson and Benson should be your starters

Ya those were the guys I was planning on going with just wanted a second opinion. The only thing I was thinking is, Packers D doesn't look to good at the beginning of the season. NFL.com was telling me Gore was the better starter, but I figured Benson would be the better choice. Thanks.

This was my first time doing a fantasy draft, how does my team look.
QB D. Brees, M. Schaub
HB R. Rice, D. McFadden, F. Gore, C. Benson
WR W. Welker, S. Johnson, S. Smith, J. Maclin, M. Crabtree
TE O. Daniels, E. Dickson
Defense Jets
Kicker B. Cundiff

I released HB Starks to get Dickson and I released Colts kicker to get Cundiff
10 team league

Not bad for a first draft... or any draft, really.

i don't know if i would have picked up dickson, if either of the New England TE's were available, but then again after last week I suppose dickson will be looked at alot.

struggling with WR's here

Roddy White (starting, even though he is against aso.)
Mike Wallace (start duh)
and... everybody else
Jeremy Maclin (OC "it's my job to make sure he gets the ball more" idk if thats a bluff)
Malcolm Floyd (against NE, miami's marshall exposed their corners, idk if bellicheck will allow that twice in a row)
Johnny Knox (last year he and cutler developed chemistry, this year he "lost" his starting job to roy williams, who is now probably out, meaning it's knox's position to lose, and he could light the world of fire again)

as far as my other team
I'm starting Flacco over Freeman... after last week i'm not benching flacco... even on his bye.
I'm starting Hillis and Best over CJ2k Wells and Blount (CJ2K was dismal last week, and he's playing us... a better defense) (yes I'm looking to trade a RB for a good WR)
I'm starting Hernandez (my only TE atm)
Cundiff
and Tampa Defense

I'd actually go with Maclin. He was on the field a ton last week. He will be on the field a ton again. I am using White and Maclin (WR3) in one league. Maclin is going to have one of those "I'm back games," and I don't want him to be on my bench when he does. Eagles O-Line is struggling a bit. And Vick has two options. Throw to Maclin or scramble. Last year he threw to Maclin, first game this season he scrambled.

Knox would be second. I would say Knox will probably be the safest bet since Williams will be out. Floyd and Evans rely upon getting TDs too much. But I prefer Maclin's upside.

Well the amount of fantasy football podcasts I listen to, articles I read and games I watch, I feel like I should have good insight. But this game is just so hard to predict.

A lot of the analysts want to play the wait and see game with Maclin. But as a WR3, I like him. The opportunity is there for him. Before he didn't show up to camp he was being projected as a high WR2 with WR1 upside. Good job with getting him as a WR3. It will pay off. Are you in a PPR league?

Like always don't blame me if Floyd has a two TD game while Maclin goes 2 for 43.

need some help here

#1WR Wide roddy against Nnamdi

#2WR Branson Lloyd against Questionable start (groin injury)

#3W/R Lee Evans

got Robert Meacham on the bench and could sub Darren Sproles / Mark ingram /or Rikky williams at the #3W/R position.

someone please talk some since into me.

I agree with you. I think Sproles is going to play a big role in this game. If its a ppr league I'm gambling on Sproles. If it isn't a PPR league, I'd go with Meachem.

What? How is that even a question. Gates is one of those rare must start guys every week no matter the matchup. That is what you call getting 'too cute.'

I'm not saying Dickson can't have a greater (better) game. But Gates is a proven commodity. He is safer and has bigger upside. You have to be careful with Homerism in FF. We see this team under a microscope and we play out bigger roles for our players than it seems. I saw Ravens fans drafting Tandon Doss and Pitta in drafts this year.

That shouldn't be an issue. TE is the deepest than its ever been. There should be serviceable TEs on the wire as teams just can't hold onto them all.

See what happens when I give Gates a ringing endorsement. He puts up a goose egg. Should've known Bill B would've focus on taking out Gates.

Red please tell me you went with Maclin. I told you he would have that "I'm back" game. I wasn't willing to wait. Glad I stuck out my neck with him this week and he is paying off. The game isn't even in the 4th yet and he's already has a monster game.
