Titans D-Coord Gray Says They Will Retaliate

Interesting comments from Jerry Gray (a perennial D-Coordinator from one team to the next, this guy has more coaching jobs than my wife has shoes!)

Anyway, he said if the Ravens chop block then they will retaliate.

With comments like these I am sure the league just put this game on notice and I bet there will be a scuffle or two even outside of Finnegan. Boldin should toss this chump handedly though, should be fun to watch.

I think you can pretty much throw a flag on any play in the nfl but the fact the refs never threw one means to me that nothing was wrong. Funny how the steelers start whining 5 days after the game. We clearly got in their heads. YEAH RAVENS!

From what I have read none of the blocks laid by the Ravens were illegal. I was watching the game tape this morning, and saw Yanda hit the ground to take out defenders a few times. However, being one position away is apparently a legal block, so let them whine too.

The chopped block was confirmed by many analyst that they were not illegal, but the Titans defense coord. intentionally and publicly said they will hurt the Ravens. That sounds like threaten and should bring Goodel to attention for fines and warnings.

I'm looking forward to whoop the Titans and blow them off the field (tennis terminology of beating someone terriably in score wise).

I love that opposing teams have taken to talking the week before the game. Jim Gray just went from anonymous to the Ravens bulletin board.

Completely agree. Not worried about a letdown after those comments.

I just want to point out the utter hypocrisy of the Steelers. When Hines Ward does things that aren't technically "illegal," but that other players and fans consider dishonorable and likely to cause injury, it's just Hines being tough. But when the Ravens perform legal chop blocks (which I guess are considered dishonorable by the Steelers), the Steelers have the nerve to complain? I'm sure our d-line sees their share of chop blocks, gotta look out for it. Keep your head "on a swivel," to borrow one of the Hines lovers' favorite phrases.

People are confusing chop blocks (illegal) with cut blocks (legal)... there's nothing wrong with cut blocks, which is what the Steelers were mostly whining about. Trust me, they would have flagged us for a chop block if we were really doing it "all game"

TEN has always been my most hated team. They try to be like us and PIT. Difference is that us and PIT are consistent winners and are class organizations. TEN is trash...like anyone cares what they have to say

While this is obviously going to motivate the team (as if they'd need to cheat to beat the Titans even if they DID play dirty) I still think this is total bull. I believe any intentional attempt to injure someone should be an automatic removal from the game and this is no different. I'm gonna be pissed as hell if we lose one of our better players for the season, especially on our Oline.

Congratulations Jerry Gray, whatever chance there was that the Ravens weren't focused on this game is now gone.

I love how he's talking about this even though it's been corrected that we didn't actually do anything illegal against the Steelers.

This makes me a wee nervous . I don't want to see one of our guys get hurt cuz some punk can't stand losing.I really hope the NFL steps in and tells them fines, ejections, and suspensions will be thrown down

This does not worry me in the least! Tenn does not have the weapons to make these kind of threats. If they wanna bring it and get dirty I'm sure our boys will have no problem defending themselves and the guys up front will keep Joe safe!

Most of the time chop blocks are called on the person who did his job but the other guy didn't disengage his block. Its a big communication thing, which i think will probably be fixed as the line plays together more. Yanda and Birk don't have the connection. What we did last week is legal, but is a little dirty, but I don't think it was intentional. Birk probably just didn't disengage his blocker like he was supposed to.

Hopefully we'll get the communication down. However, if the titans purposely injure our guys then the league needs to step in big time.

This is simply talk from someone who is scared - he saw what happened to the Steelers and now he is trying to intimidate the Ravens. A tall task, and he won't be successful!

The funniest thing about all of this is that the Steelers' d-line made these comments Thursday, almost 5 full days since that game and with about 2 days before their next game. I thought they would whoop the poor Seahawks on Monday, today I'm not so sure since some of their team's minds are still on the beatdown we handed them and they haven't fully moved on to their next game. If I were Tomlin, I'd be worried my guys' heads aren't in the right place.

As far as Tennessee goes, really stupid comments by Gray without knowing the facts. I thought part of his job was to watch film of his next opponent from their last game, if he truly had been I'm sure he would never have made those ill-advised comments. The Titans offense will do a little against us, I wouldn't be surprised if CJ gets around 100 yards from scrimmage total. However, I fully expect our offense to roast Gray's defense though after providing some bulletin board material as you guys said. I'm going ahead and calling 400+ yards of offense from Joe, Ray, and company.

Ya know just another guy flappin his gums, It's never the guy runnin his mouth you worry about.

I remember all preseason a and week one we let the steeler's flap their gums and we stayed focused and it turned out in our favor.

I am going to worry about the team that says nothing and is concentrating on doing what they do and perfecting their game not critiquing ours .

you know, I am not so sure this is a gimmie game for the steelers at this point. Both teams are reeling right now and big Willie Colon is out for the season. Pete Carroll somehow managed to take down the Saints last season.

Odds makers feel confident though

Steelers giving 14.5 points!

Money line: -$850 ; $675

C'mon Seattle! haha
