Former NFL bad [profanity deleted] Chris McAlister -- who signed a $55 MILLION contract in 2004 -- claims he's BROKE AS A JOKE and living with his parents ... this according to court docs obtained by TMZ.

The ex-Baltimore Ravens defensive superstar has just filed new documents in his child support war with his ex-wife Marlene in the hopes of lowering his $11,000 per month obligation.

In the docs, Chris -- a 1st round NFL draft pick in 1999 who played in the league for 10 years -- states, "I have been unemployed since 2009. I have no income."

He adds, "I live in my parent's home. My parents provide me with my basic living expenses as I do not have the funds to do so."
More like trying to get the $11,000 per month child support renegotiated so playing the poor mouth
I'd bet he has money squirreled away

It's a ridiculous settlement and while McAllister had a long career that's over now

Time to get a judge to look at it again

Spree-spending more than he could afford?

He needs to go to work for income; with his resume, he can find some low key jobs in the sport entertainment industry easily.

Hard to feel sorry for him. $55M contact in 2004, with $17.5M in guarantees... Where did that money go? Unless his parents have a pimped out basement, he wasted it...

Probably shouldn't have been spending his money on things like these...

First, let me just say that I hate TMZ. I hate how they're trying to become a legitimate news source when their claim to fame was to harass a drunk pop star. Phonies.

Anyways, it's just poor money management on Chris' part. I get that there's a possibility that players only see half of the money that's agreed upon in their contracts, no matter what's guaranteed. But there's no reason why he should be flat out broke right now.

It's too bad. I always thought he'd have a job as a DBs coach or something after he retired. Dude was real smart.

LOL I remember that in the newspaper years ago when he bought that thing. Yup if thats the type of vehicles he was buying, I can only imagine what else he wasted money on. Damn shame for such a great talent, could have probably had a few more years with the Ravens too if he had a slightly smaller ego. Can't really feel sorry for him though, it was all his doing. Hope young guys like Jimmy Smith take not of this guy as a prime example of what not to do.

Agreed. A lot gossip sites are like that. Always have to add their sardonic commentary to an article but, I guess, they'll keep doing it as long as the hits comes - add PFT into that, too...

He still can be a coach, no reason to be unemployed at his age and health. I have a feeling it has more to do with his "obligations" and him positioning himself to lighten his debt load soon. $11,000 for child support is just ridiculous.

Its sad, but this is a major problem with most athletes. They find ways to throw money down a drain. Get sucked into bad investments. Make large commitments thinking money will last.

If only these guys were wise. Stick you money in an interest bearing investment account. Let it grow and have it making money for your elder years. And remember you are not a bank, don't make investments to friends and family.

I have no idea how his lawyer even allowed for the child support to be that much, celebrity or not.

Whether or not C-Mac is fibbing just to make himself look sympathetic in court, this is still one of those facepalm moments, no matter how you spin it.

I saw CMAC at Powerplant last weekend. Seriously, no pics but it was HIM!
That's where a big portion of his money went, as anyone who partied there regularly during Chris's years here can attest to.

I don't know how these players do it but I would certainly like to take a shot at having around $30 Million+ and see if I can make due for the rest of my life without losing it all.

You can just send me a message if you have the dough to get me started on my personal challenge.

Would Post the Dave Chappelle Cribs Parody but can't find the censored version. It reminds me of all those athletes that are poor because they waste their money on "ballin'". Sucks it happened to Chris, he is one of my top 5 ravens of all time but he did it to himself. Hopefully he will find a job somewhere.

Ok, so child support is calculated based on the husband's income right? if he makes no money, he shouldn't have to pay child support....

Wow this is ridiculous, sure its 55 mil and even half of that would set most people in this forum up for the rest fo their life with a significant upgrade, but 11,000 a month lets not act like the ex wife is not some money hungry chick. I actually think she is the villian in this scenario, she is making a 100,000 dollars for doing absolutely nothing, At least C-mac put in work for that with the practices, weights, sprints and whatever. How do you say gold digger.

Not saying he should be absolved from providing for his child but I know growing up I did not have to have 11,000 dollars to entertain me, hell I could play in the dirt or a sport, and a football was 5 bucks so I feel for C-mac in that regard.

I think people tend to forget how young and inexperienced these guys are when they starting raking in the big bucks. I seriously wonder how many of us would have the discipline to save for the future at 22 (or even at 28). It's easy to think we would be smarter with our money, but I doubt that many of us would be at that age (and no one ever claimed that football players are the smartest people on the planet).

This is really just a sad, sad, situation and one way or another, the child is likely to suffer for it.

I just caught the part about the 11k a month. That's insane. That's 132k a year. I can't see how that is justified on any level. The average household income is like 41k.

I wish I could be a baby mama for somebody.
