Joe Said Take Advantage Of Polamalu

61 posts in this topic

The thing about Polamalu is he is watching too much Ed Reed tape but he is no Ed Reed nor will ever be!!! So what happens? Exactly what happened with Ed Dickson... he is simply not good enough to disguise his whereabout as well as Ed can and is not as football smart as Ed either...

I just want these stupid pundits to acknowledge this so we can all move on knowing that Ed Reed is the best safety of all time and Troy would be lucky to break into the top 10 safeties of all time....

Really? What a bunch of tools. He takes more criticism than any quarterback despite improving year after year and he's overrated? That's a troll statement at its finest.
Yeah really. I was so mad that I just started laughing. Like how can you say Flacco is overrated???

IF this is true, and Joe is really the one who noticed this and actually said that, then that's awesome. A HUGE step for him. He played really great Sunday, and most importantly... didn't turn the ball over. I've said it in other threads and I'll say it here... if he, and the team, play like that all season... he'll have finally "cemented" himself as an upper-echelon QB. And yeah, I'll finally go WACCO FOR FLACCO! (if y'all will allow me to jump on the bandwagon that late)
We're actually just about to depart for a trip to the superbowl and maybe we'll make a stop off in Hawaii for the pro bowl. Welcome aboard!

Ok I have never gotten the Polamalu hype, I mean don't get it twisted the guy is good, all he really is, is a fast linebacker, other than that he is really not that good at anything. He is terrible in coverage and I think it has finally been proven enough to where it really cant be argued, the only problem is that the steeler's fan base is so huge (and fair weather) that the public opinion is that he is the best. He really does not do anything that Brian Dawkins hasn't done before him. He is not on the verge of breaking records like Reed is.

Speaking of "43".....there is a picture of him trying to horsecollar tackle somebody that is posted on the Ravens photo site. I don't know how to retrieve it to put it here........can anyone help? It's on the slideshow of the Week 1 game about 6 or 8 photos in.

John Clayton over at ESPN calls Joe ELITE all the time, he says he takes so much grief for saying it but he sticks by it

Joe definitely made some things happen against the Steelers, its good to hear Joe is changing up plays, calling different protections and telling receivers how to play certain coverages

that comes with experience and Joe is growing up, he's getting better every year

Reading the title I was glad it wasn't Roethlisberger who said that.

Now that's funny right there!

I agree with you completely. A wise man once said if noones talking about the offensive line, it must be the best around. Well in the last 3 years pretty much the only thing we talked about was the offensive line and how bad they were. Now that were after the shock of how well they played in the first game, i have a feeling that any talks about them will start to taper away besides the occasional how well they're gelling. This leaves room to begin really focusing on our young defensive talent, flacco, rice, and all the other playmakers we have had and have just aquired.

Hodge called him overrated on Monday on ESPN. I just laughed, as did Tim Hasslebeck.

I just cannot believe he called Joe overrated...if anything he is underrated. He has gotten so much criticism and then he put on a show. 3 TD's (accurate passes) as well as 0 int's...how you can say he is overrated is beyond me.
You know what, I don't care if the media never gives Joe the credit he deserves, as long as he's winning us SBs, who cares? Us as fans take too much stock into this with threads every week being made about how someone is not giving Joe his due credit, jeez!

I received a text message yesterday that Joe Flacco was shopping in Wegmans. If we win the Super Bowl, then he will be right up there with Johnny Unitas. I don't ever doubt that he will find Evans deep several times this season. It's great to see Boldin and Dickson score because the Steelers were worried about the deep ball to Evans. Rice is the best all around back in the game.

i've never questioned for a split second that Flacco will be elite in this league. I dunno just yet about calling him the next Peyton, but it certainly wouldn't shock me if things played out that way

He was doing this stuff last year too, this isn't new to him or anything. I remember watching the videos on the Ravens video page thingy and he was talking about how he noticed this or that and told one of his guys to watch out for it.

The next Saints coach?

Lol, I'm just messing.

I don't know if I would go that far, but he's looking pretty special.

So it certainty wouldn't shock you if Joe turned out to be arguably the greatest QB in NFL history, i need to know what your on, because it must be some good stuff.

Ya know people who judge people before they see the sum of the product are very foolish.

Ya know they said that about frank tarkenton, warren moon, and steve young

All of whom are in the hall. Then you got your kurt warner's who are undrafted, and Tom brady who went in the sixth and people did not know his name until he won back to back superbowl's.

If you don't THINK he can be elite fine it is your opinion, but nobody would have to be on anything to say he has the potential to be the greatest to ever play the game, especially considering there is no one in the record books who has won more than joe in their first four years.

He looked GREAT Sunday, but it is far too soon to say he's the next Manning or Unitas. Of course, he definitely showed the potential is there. He can be that good.

I don't even know who you are anymore!!!!!??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But seriously I do respect the fact that you can admit when a player has done well instead of just declaring every Raven to be the greatest from the very beginning. I agree that Flacco has deserved criticism for the past couple years to an extent. But if Flacco plays up to his potential, no Ravens fan is going to be upset with the results.

Respect? This is the first time he has even remotely come close to paying Flacco a compliment. Respect is not my word of choice!

If I questioned a guy for being too stubborn on a certain subject then I would be a little hypocritical. I like to think if people want to join the bandwagon that I'm going to make space for them. But you do have a higher post count than me, so nothing personal edreedfromtheu but you gotta get approval from "the man" first.

Joe shut them up for the week by throwing 3 (really 4) TDs against the Steelers. We destroyed one of the best defenses in the league with only a small window in which all of the offense practiced together. Once the offense gets more in sync, it could be quite scary. All I know is Joe's completion percentage should have been higher, there were quite a few passes that should have been caught.

Really, I think Joe's biggest test for the haters is going to be our first Bengals game. For whatever reason, Joe's has had a few down games during those weeks. If he gets through that and finally figured out their coverage schemed, I think it will be safe for everyone to say he's arrived. I'm with the group that's been saying he's already arrived, and I've been there for a long time.
As much as he's had trouble against the bengals, they lost there best cover corner in jonathon joseph. so i see no reason why Joe wont have a good day when its bengal week.
