What Is Wrong With The Steelers?

197 posts in this topic

Objectively looking at the Steelers problems, I'd say they are:

A beat-up Roethlisberger - The guy has taken as much, if not more, abuse than any other QB in the NFL. The knocks seem to be catching up with him now.

An offensive line - The o-line is awful. Pair that with a Big Ben that's less mobile than usual and you're in for massive problems.

Rashard Mendenhall - Looks like he was the one on dancing with the stars. Never seen a Steeler Runningback dance so much at/around the line of scrimmage. He's also dinged up.

Elderly Declining - Injuries and age are catching up with the Steelers veteran stars. Harrison, Keisel, Smith, Hampton and Farrior all seem to be declining at the same time. Their front 3 is a combined age of 102...

You can never take the Steelers lightly, but this looks more like a transition year for them.

Not to mention the Steelers signed Cotchery this year after WE passed on him, and he hasn't been on the field, that I can recall.
I think Cothery was a good move. He MADE the roster in pre-season. We didn't just sign him off the street. He performed and earned the position.

You guys love this nit piock debate. But the fact remains: We're only 2-2 and we've been more successful over the last 10 years than the Ravens. Argue if you want, but you have no case.

You really are CRABBY , aren't you? : P The game is constanly evolving, if you rest on your laurels and think you're good enough, with last years roster.... You've already missed the boat. It's funny how you keep comparing the Steelers to the Ravens.... This is about YOUR team, this time. You're talking in circles and reverting to typical Steeler fanBOI'ism. Past success means NOTHING to the future.
The Steelers are one of the best, no questions... It baffles me how such a great franchise can NOT address the OLine... You have a bonified Super Bowl QB, yet they do NOTHING to protect him. I (GULP) feel sorry for Ben sometimes, he gets the crap kicked out of him and the FO just allows it... Tell me honestly, do yo agree with this strategy?? If you say, "Yes"... You're blind and foolish.

THere has to be a comparison. And no one "rests on their laurels." In fact, I've always known that returning most of your staters was a good thing. Not bad. Especially if your team was just in the SB.

I'm not crabby at all.

Again, the Steelers have addressed the O-Line. You don't seem to be getting that. You act like starting lineman grow on trees. They don't. Speaking of blind and foolish, this isn't Madden. You can't just sign a player who has a better numeric value than one of your starters and consider it an upgrade.

If this is their version of attempting to fix a PROBLEM....WOW. Are you really trying to compare my argument to "Madden"? Give me a bit more credit then that. As for returning most of your roster, we will see if that was a wise or foolish move at the end of the season.... Correct? Won't we?For you to have " Always known" returning your players is ideal, you should also realize there is a time to cut bait..... when has BEING in the Super Bowl enough? The idea, from my point of view is to WIN it.

Once again..... he MADE the roster, and hasn't done ANYTHING. Much like Stallworth for us last year( since you brought it up). The Steelers have been more succesful over the last 10 year, I'm not argiung it, but who'se to say it wont be flipped for the next 10 years.... It's not like the Steelers havent had PLENTY of down years.

Difference is: One of us is speculating and the other is stating facts.

You're making claims about the future: Hence the speculation.

I'm basing my claims on what's already taken place: hence the facts.

Do I need to break out the easel and colored pencils or what?

And yea, you are reaching.

And you walked to school right? 5 miles, both ways...... Save the history lesson for someone who cares. : P

How am I. Reaching? You've got LITTLE stability in your line.... Pounced is it and I personally think he's over rated.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

Man you really ARE a drama queen. I think you have a bright future in "Inquirer-esque" media.
Not being a drama queen at all. Just talking about the obvious. But yeah, great way to analyze your team by just pushing insults to any criticizing your team. Not nearly as many personal attacks as the private messages you sent me but still, after 4 games you still think everyone knocking the squeelers doesn't know what they are talking about?

Wow, the story is down to 5 miles??? That's actually pretty accurate.

We are 2-2. I've admitted that our new o-line is a work in progress. What else do you want dude?

You think it means certain doom and yadda, yadda. That's the way it is around here. Trust me, I've been here after a Ravens loss. But I am not that way. It ain't over 'till the fat lady sings. K? K.

Your post was 100% drama and not worth responding to. In fact, so is this one. Woe is you dude. I didn't hear you claiming how bad the "Squeelers" were when they knocked the <UNACCEPTABLE> out of the play offs last year.
