What Is Wrong With The Steelers?

The main problem is their run D and Ben getting destroyed every time he drops back to pass. If they fix those two things, they'll be back to relative normalcy in no time.
No to mention, they aren't getting the Sack/QB hits/Pressures like they are known for... Not to mention, they are upside down in the turnover ratio.... That's not like the Steelers.

That hit by Watt (albeit not necessarily intentional) looked really bad. I was thinking high ankle sprain or knee injury for sure... the fact he was in a boot can't be good.
Whats crazy is I thought when he went down (last week?) it looked even worse and he escaped with no issues. I mean, it really looked like his entire leg was twisting off.

Update on Roethlisberger

According to the Pittsburgh Gazette, there is concern that Roethlisberger suffered a broken left foot. Don't think that you can play with that.

Is it easier for a right handed QB to play with a broken left foot or right foot?
Its easier to play with a bad right foot. A right handed QB needs to use his left foot to plant and throw. You don't want QBs throwing off the back foot.

Without a good planting foot you can forget about deep passes to Mike Wallace.

Having been a sensational (third string) QB :), back foot for sure, in this case, right foot injury would be more painful/awkward to play with.

Really? It might be more painful, but to play effectively the left foot would be more worrisome, wouldn't it?

I can see any foot be bothersome. Right foot after the snap and moving around in the pocket. Left foot for the throwing process.

You drive off of and forward with the right (while being a right handed QB) foot. Most weight sits on that leg also. I have rolled both ankles way too many times and I can say I was able to play better with the left being injured. Although I didn't take a single in game snap at QB ;)

I can certainly agree with this in regards to planting and throwing effectively....especially the deep ball.  But with most your weight on the back leg (thus foot and ankle) the back foot will hurt more and often if injured.

Isn't that the same foot he was having problems with last year? They will probably just shoot him up with pain killers.

Its the other foot. So now he has to play through painful feet (or two foots non-plural).

Him and his WR Sanders can share notes and gossip about their bad feet.

Just as I mentioned in the game thread. Ben is gonna look ten years older by the end of this season.

3. They are Old

4. They can't stop the run

5. They are Old

6. Secondary sucks

7. They are Old....

Did I mention they are old?

Still #2 defense. Just like last year. May I remind you that they are only a few months removed from a SB appearance. And they went through the Ravens to get there.

That "old" crap is getting "old."

Wardy, I like you, but who cares about last year?
Also, using the real measuring stick for a defense (IMO, points), Steelers are 6th.  Which is still great, just sayin' :)

Last year was only a few months ago. And when you (or JO) are talking about age, I think it plays into the argument.

I like you too. haha

The problem with the Steelers is in the Trenches.
They cant Protect Ben, and they cant stop the run.

In previous seasons the Steelers controlled the defensive trenches shutting down opposing running backs; and forcing opponents to throw against them; while their pass rush was able to supplement their horrible secondary, that includesTroy Polumalu. However, now they can't stop the run and the skill, or lack there of in the secondary is showing as they are getting killed against play action.

Offensively they haven't had a good offensive line in a while Ben has always been able to negate this fact with his Rtard BS play making where he runs 10 yards behind the line dodges two defenders and throws across the field an somehow someone catches it.
Well its about time that has stopped working and now he is just getting hit.

And Mendenhall is [not a good player and never will be]

I know, believe me us Ravens fans hate when he hear that about our defense, but it's just nice that for the first time you guys are getting called on for being old. You have young guys you can play to add youth but keep playing older guys. Ziggy Hood I thought did a great job when Aaron Smith was injured and yet Aaron gets the job back despite Hood playing well. Ravens front office finally learned it was time to play the young guys instead of benching them.

Also # 2 Defense??? Yeah you can thank Seattle & Indy for padding the Steelers defensive stats. They didn't look like a # 2 defense against us or against Houston. They only looked like the old Steelers defense because of playing Seattle and a Manning-less Colts team.

But, you have been using that old claim for 2-3 years and we were the #2 defense last year too. The season is still young and we're trying to iron out our O-Line. I still say we will be in competition for this division (barring a collapse or host of injuries).

The injuries are becoming an alarmingly big issue though aren't they? Roethlisberger is usually able to shrug off the hits he takes but he's taking so many this season. Harrison's clearly not 100% and I don't know what the deal is with Mendenhall but he hurt his hammy didn't he?

BTW is Harrison one eyed now? That would be awesome if he played with an eye patch. I'd be even more scared if I were an OL man.

"Here comes that one-eye pass rushing freak!, they say his eye socket is filled with gold!"

You know, you surely don't take well to losing..... Ravens fans have been hoping for the Steelers to fall off for awhile now....., that... regardless of what your biased thoughts are... they haven't played well this year. The trend seems to be a decline. Obviously, its very early and they are as resilient as they come. Though, for you to blindly use last year as a measuring stick.... thats a bit naive, don't you think?
