Consistent is a better word than stagnant, imo. But I do know what you mean. Coach continuity is important...familiarity, etc.

Good catch. I have a bad habit of using poor choices of words.

And why did someone neg me for wanted to see Billick back in the league? What's wrong with the old ball coach? I didn't mean coach for the Ravens.

I don't think he will get any offers at least for 4 years... Unless our defense sets records the next 2 years defensively or become the #1 overall defense for 2 or 3 straight years....

I hear what you are saying. A lot of teams out there respect the Ravens organization so much that they cherry pick our coaches. I think we will get at least 2-3 years out of Pagano though.

I think people are overreacting to an obvious joke. Our defensive coordinators eventually leave to become head coaches. It's another reason I hate the Steelers so much because they get all this credit for having a consistently good defense (which they do) but how many other teams have the luxury of having the same coordinator for two decades.
OH MY GOSH, for awhile there... I heard crickets.

No but, really, I think maybe more people got the joke. But, Its just the people who over analyze everything whom took it to seriously and had to post.

Great topic. I found it hilarious and valid. I wonder if the Ray Lewis coaching tree will stop when he gets retired. Mike Lewis, Mike Nolan, Mike Singletary (wasn't a DC), Jack Del Rio (wasn't a DC), Rex Ryan and pretty soon...Chuck Pagano.

The thing about Pagano is he has the qualities that would make a really good head coach. So, depending on whose on a hot seat around the league and whether one guy or another might lose his job, if we have as good a year as we're hoping to have Pagano may leave before 2013. That would suck.

I hope he curses up a storm or punches somebody and gets blacklisted from head coaching jobs >__> so he stays here for ever.

What the heck, you guys are nuts... HC is not heading anywhere, and Pags has been DC for ONE GAME... at the least let him get a season under his belt, without The HoFers in the middle.... as much as I hate the Squealers, Lebeaux has done it for years with and without the best players on the D he currently coaches... Pags is just getting started.

If I recall correctly, LeBeau had numerous head coaching gigs and proved consistently that he just didn't have what it takes to be a head coach.

When did you start watching football? He was the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals back in 00 - 02 and the Bengals finished 4-9, 6-10 and 2-14, respectively, in those 3 years. He was also the assistant head coach with the Bills after that and that didn't work out either so he went back to the Steelers as a defensive coordinator, where he was last a defensive coordinator back in the mid-90s.

I don't know what people are saying here, LeBeau has been around for a long time but he was in Cincinnati for most of the 80s, until 92' and then went back to Cincinnati from 97-03, and then Buffalo for that year only to return to the Steelers in 2004..

I have been watching football for 30 Years... I was wrong he was a head coach for those pathetic bengals teams interim in 2000 coach in 01 and 02 he was an assistant for the bills in 03 but has been coaching since 1973 so in 40 Years he has had one HEAD COACHING JOB not a ton of chances as you said, and he will NEVER be a HEAD COACH AGAIN...so I will let Pags be one in 25 years and still beat out Lebeaux...

child please...

I think you need to be a "Ravens" coordinator for at-least a season before teams can even really reach out and make an offer to him. He is our guy right now and I think we are running some good packages to keep this D at # 1...

Haha I don't see why anyone would want to leave from being the d coordinator of the ravens..this is the perfect situation for him and in about 2-3 years he will have Ed reed as his defensive backs coach/defensive assistant. Haha I know ray has stated that he doesn't want to get into coaching, but I think Ed would love to coach and he would be perfect.

Seriously though I've seen a lot of former players going bak to their old teams as a position coach/assistant..duece staley has been doing it for a while..I recently saw rod Woodson on the sidelines for Oakland as their cornerbacks coach..so I wouldn't be suprised if Ed reed coached with us after he decides to hang it up. Who knows, he could become our d coordinator in about 10 years haha maybe then he could convince ray to coach too

I hope he sticks with us for AWHILE. Hopefully he becomes our version of Lebeau. If this was his dream job and he stayed, he would bring so much to this team; he would be able to build this defense to his specs through multiple drafts and truly make it his. I don't know if I can stand to watch another premium coach leave us for another HC job; the list is too long already. Like everybody else has already said, it is way too early to start this discussion. He's called ONE GAME lol

read it again, i didnt say hed get fired or whatever, people just move on after a while, try neew things, new challenges, family reasons, whatever, i just cant see him spending his career here, and if that happens i dont know if biscotti will pass up on another great coach coming up through the ravens ranks like rex.. its all speculation
We already have a great coach in Harbs. Ofc we wont replace him with someone else on our payroll.

It wasn't my being wrong I was defensive about, it just seemed that my time as a football afficianado was being questioned, nd yes I will get defensive about that....

That being said I hold no grudges or animosity, I threw my tantrum and have moved beyond it, like any other child

Well i hope it isnt for atleast 5 yrs, seems like everytime we start looking good we lose a coach. I think that might have something to do with us not winning the SB the last 2 yrs. I will lose my mind if he is a head coach after this season or the next.

As much crap as he took in this thread for even bringing it up, I think he earned the right to a little excessive celebration. :)

Pagano will have a Hue Jackson of a career.

At least Rex Ryan had star studded defense and a GM & Owner that are willing to spend at max salary cap. That isnt irsay/colts style, and Pagano will soon realize he'll be so extremely limited in resource compare to what Ravens have in Baltimore.

Honestly, he wont be having Peyton for more than 6 games this upcomming season. He would have Andrew Luck be rushed in like Blaine Gabbert and I'll see what kind of offensive mind he has brewed up to help the colts.

Ever had a herniated disc? He had a fusion on his neck. Im in my mid 20's and I had a herniated disc in my L2 region in my back and had a non-invasive surgery to clip the jelly (which is a much less painful operation compare to bone fusion). If I lift even a baggage heavier than 40pounds, I could feel extreme stabbing pain for 2 straight days. If Peyton gets hit on the ground more than 2 times in a game, he is done. Like Bob Sanders done every quarter of the game.
