Mcclain A Viable Fantasy Rb?

He is on waivers and with his goal line back presence and surprising amount of playing time I wonder if he isn't worth a shot as a replacement for say Michael Pittman. Similar player, goal line situations, but I'd rather have a Raven then a Bronco. Is it worth it to go out and grab LeRon?

I would say it's worth taking McClain and starting him as a third RB. He's been piling up the yards, and I figure he'll be more of factor early this season before he physically gets worn down later. Plus, as you said, he's been utilized in a lot of short-yardage and goal line situations, resulting in more opportunities for TDs.

Through two games, he's the Ravens' leading rusher with 152 yards on 36 carries (4.2 yards per carry average), and two TDs. Though I don't expect him to surpass McGahee in yardage by the end of the season, for a natural [u]fullback[/u] to have a 4.2 YPC average is amazing, especially when you consider that he's averaging 20 touches per game from scrimmage.

Even more impressive is the fact that those carries are coming from a running back-by-committee ground attack, and McClain isn't even the featured back.

I'd say definitely get him in TD-heavy leagues. He'll probably be scoring about a TD a game, because no one can stop him down there. I cant see him getting up over 50 yards all that often this season unless we are taking big leads early, which I can't see happening.

Depends on how deep your league is and what sort of players are on the wire. If you do not have at least 3-4 viable running backs, than he should be of good use.
