Oher Vs. Ike Taylor

50 posts in this topic

I watched the video of the little scuffle from yesterday a few times. the announcers kept saying Ike Taylor started it and the Ravens shouldnt retaliate, etc. If you look at the video again, Oher grabs Taylor's ankle as he walks by and causes Taylor to slap him and get a 15 yard penalty. Smart move by Oher because the Ravens had just gotten stuffed on a 3rd and 1 so what better way to keep the drive going than to frustrate a player on a team that is getting blown out?

I can agree that it seems Oher instigated it, but Ike slapped him and then head butted him for Oher touching his foot? HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!

the best part of that video is the flop by the referee lol. They showed the replay a few seconds later and he doesnt get touched, but he layed out as if Mike Tyson just gave him a haymaker lol

A head butt for a touched foot? If he had stopped with just the slap he most likely would have been alright. The head butt was over the line though.

Hey, gotta give Oher props. When that ref went down he quickly went over to make sure the guys didn't fall on top of him.

I watched it a few times. I think he just fell so awkwardly that he smaked the back of his head on the turf. It really looks like he was out cold for a few moments. Of course, I was so pumped at the moment that I jumped up and screamed out a quote from the movie "Friday", lol.

There were like two separate fights going on. Taylor v. Oher. And Polamalu v. the rest of the OL and backs.

Still don't know what Polamalu was doing, he stopped Rice well short - the punt team was even out on the field. I guess he and the Steelers wanted to give us another chance. I expect some big fines - Taylor, Polamalu, Mundy, and Woodley among them.

Oh! My bad! I thought it was Oher. Well, gotta give McKinnie props then. I thought it showed a lot of class.

I just noticed Joe come in at 0:23 to pull Taylor away from the pile.

He didn't want his favorite whipping boy to be ejected.

Huh?
Taylor isn't as good as his contract indicates. He played well yesterday but that's because the Ravens were abusing McFadden, the linebacking corps, and Polamalu.

Pretty much the whole team was abused on every front but Ike played a solid game. His man might have stretched the field but Evans had 0 receptions. You couldn't ask for much more for than that.

EDIT: Except not committing stupid penalties of course.

I know right? I keep watching to see the ref go down and act as if he's dead.

Your right. But its usually the player who retaliates that gets the penalty. A headbutt is pretty aggressive. Just goes to show you that the refs aren't just against us. They only flagged Taylor in that whole scuttlebuttle.

On a side note. Taylor comes off as a little punk to me. He seems to be emotionally driven like a 13 year old boy. Just an observation.

I like how the announcers mentioned that the Ravens were doing everything to try and hold back the entire bench from rushing on the field.

Also, Ward should be fined for throwing that punch at Reed. (I think it was Reed)
Anyone remember, it was a different play?

It looks like someone shot him, he dropped so hard. What a drama queen lol. Although, I think he took a pretty good beating that game. Poor little fella.

Pollard, I beleive. In the EZ when they were locked arm in arm.

He backed down pretty quick after Oher got to his feet, tho.

I laughed out loud at Mike Preston's take on that...

Pittsburgh receiver Hines Ward got into an altercation with Ravens safety Bernard Pollard in the second quarter, and took a swing at Pollard before running away and going back to the huddle.

What a sissy.

In that situation, my money goes on Pollard. He'd TKO Ward in about two minutes.

By the way, if you get a chance, check out Jarret Johnson taking out Ward in the second half. It will give you goose bumps.
As he was running away, back to his huddle, Ward also got an earful from a ref - he was trying to avoid his eyes and was looking away. It was a great sight.

Looked to me that Oher was trying to push himself up as Taylor walked by, but the contact was incidental... hard to tell though. Either way, Taylor and Polamalu blew it way out of proportion.
