Actually, since Harbaugh took over, the Ravens have shown a lot of discipline.  Check out how much our penalties have reduce the last 2 years.
And off the field....No Mendenhall incidents, no Ward incidents, no Harrison articles for us, no Ben incidents etc... :P

The game today was an outright massacre and it wasn't even as close as the score showed. But something you guys don't know is that the Steelers had a secret plan. Tomlin knew going into this season that our kick return team needed some practice. So he decided that it was beneficial to let the Ravens score as many times as possible to let the kick return guys get some practice and that is the main reason for the lose and nothing else!

Ok now, all kidding aside. This butt whooping that you put on the Steelers was impressive but from a fans perspective, they are lucky to not have played some sub-par teams for the first 3 games and eek them all out and think the Steelers are actually a good 3-0 team. If anything, perhaps this will help them set the perspective and that there is a new standard being set in the AFCN.

From my view, here were the most telling storylines of this game.

1.) Steelers were outcoached and outexecuted on every single level, LeBeau got out-Lebeaued. And Cam wasn't afraid to make the big playcall today showing the ability for a quick strike offense.

2.) The turnovers didn't effect the outcome of the game at all. Those 7 turnovers as nice as it is to have that number didn't contribute to the win. You guys had the game well in hand prior to the rash of turnovers. Just so you know, I'm not taking anything away with this comment, just stating that other factors contributed much more heavily to your win.

3.) Your TEs proved that they are beasts, the play where Troy got burned into the corner definitely scared the Steelers defense and the possibility of the future.

4.) Ray Rice is like Fred Taylor in his prime and those type of backs always give Steelers fits. The small strong backs that run hard and cutback hard into the hole since the Steelers have such fast support, Rice finds that small gap in overpursuit.

5.) Flacco was efficient and made every throw count. His numbers don't look gaudy but that is because the game was out of hand.

6.) Both offensive lines held up better than though, obviously with the edge going to the Ravens and how they controlled the Steelers rush. But I attribute the lack of rush to Cams play calling and how he rolled Flacco in the pocket on times and kept the rush off balanced.

7.) I don't want to judge Evans harshly and didn't watch if he drew the safety a lot and that is why he was shut down. But it appears he will have a hard time this season with match-ups against elite corners. Perhaps you guys saw more closely than I did if he did his job as a somewhat decoy this game.

8.)You're defense looks great, Ngata & Suggs are beasts.

Ok, I actually could keep going about the Ravens but I need to get to work. So a few parting words.

In the long run, perhaps most Steeler fans will thank your Ravens just like I am if this is a wake-up call to the Steelers that nothing is going to be handed to them with this new aged Ravens team.

Don't let this win go to your head too much, you have an example by looking at some Steeler's fans when you think your team is the cats meow.

Good luck guys and see you in week 9.

Evans was doubled team from what i saw so that gave Boldin the chance to make some plays, i think if Boldin gets double teamed they will throw to Evans, im not worried what so ever about Evans, i know he will get open and make some plays. We saw what he can do in the Preseason.

Amen! Just wow, but had the Ravens lost it would have been ugly here too lol

My brother-in-law is a huge Steelers fan... sent me text after the game with congratulations... Was sorely disappointed in his team.

This really was a coach smack-down as much as a player smack-down. The Ravens staff had a vault worth of game tape to look at that showed exactly what the Steelers do. On the other hand Tomlin and staff had nothing. 20 new players on the Ravens roster, heavily relied on veterans gone. I think the Steelers coaches watched last years tape and said we can do this.

The Ravens front office and coaching staff did an outstanding job with their personnel decisions and game plaln. The players executed in an outstanding display.

We'll take and really enjoy the win, but know that next time, Steelers will have a lot more tape to review. I believe it will be right back to the slugfest and a lot tighter game. We surprised them no doubt. (of course we can hope they really have lost that step on 'd' too!)

In the meantime on to the Titans!

You know what you are right, i joined the Stealers forums last yr to talk about a game and got banned, i didnt curse, talk crap or anything, even though you can on that forum which is a joke.I hate stealer fans because of how they act, they have no respect what so ever. Their forums are run by [veiled profanity] with no respect.

Yep. They payed respect to Evans deep which opened up all the underneath stuff with the TE's and it opened up the run game. Ike Taylor was also on him a good portion of the game.

No, Evans will be fine..he may not have been 100% still, his foot was in a boot not a week ago...Joe missed on a couple throws to Evans, they were out of sync on one play that would have been a big gainer

they'll get better

Doubtful. The Steelers aren't getting any younger, and our rookies are only going to get better. Plus, our O-line is only going to enhance their chemistry. Joe is going to have that time and Lee Evans will be incorporated next time. You guys are in serious trouble....

and you know what...

I think you know it, too!

I think most of the fans on our forum only retaliate those who disrespect our team, and generally we hardly come around and smack talk other team.

This win over the Steelers just reassures the Ravens nation that the Steelers are beatable under Big Ben and are no longer a barrier for our SB run. Of course, we never underestimate any team we play regardless its rivalry or not.....

yup, part of the reason I thought the Steelers would win week 1 and the Ravens would have a better chance later in the year is because out young guys need to mature, get worked into the offense, defense..and the OL needs time to gel

well, they totally ruined my way of thought

Swagger is Ray saying "buckle your chin straps" and us playing you within one score, even if we lose. Arrogance is saying "not in this lifetime" and "this isn't a rivalry" even though it's been a nip and tuck battle in the majority of the recent games. You say they had a right to say things because you've won the majority of the games, well, then you can't fault Suggs because he always has a great game against you guys. I guess he was entitled to talk some smack too.

I think you guys are in trouble really. It is one thing for Joe to pick apart your secondary, we all know it is sub par. It is another for your pass rush to be a non-factor, your #1 defensive guy to get beat and your famous run D to be smashed. Your guys ARE old, not just in age, but in ability and it showed. And to think you've just shelled out all that money on those long term contracts. Oh my. My biggest surprise (pleasant though) was Wallace, Brown and Co. They got what we were giving them underneath, but very little YAC.

Bottom line is this, what I tried to tell my Steeler fan BF before the game (you know, to somewhat prepare him for the beat down to come), our off season moves were to improve our team to beat the Steelers. We saw where we got beat there and set about to fix it. Now, of course those things will help us perform better against other teams as well, but you can look at what we did and know that we were built to beat the Steelers. And it worked. Gotta love Ozzie.
Seriously, you do realize it was one game. I said that prior to this game and would be saying it after even if the Steelers won. Don't be one of those fans that when the tables are turned its ok to say the exact same things the other fans were saying.

And as for Suggs talking smack, that was the point I was trying to say if you read my posts. Both teams have a right to smack talk all they want as long as its backed up by fact. And fact is, Suggs kills us, just like Ben had a record of winning against you guys. It wasn't like that ridiculous kind of smack talk you hear from teams with nothing to back it up.

And also, those big contracts we signed, two of them were to very young players with high potential. Also, what would you have done with Harrison last year, are you saying if he was a Raven you wouldn't expect the Ravens to sign him? Same goes with Troy this year, yes he is injury prone but he is still one of the best even if he did have a bad game yesterday.

Overall, please don't make season predictions based off one game. You won, talk about the positives of the Ravens and we can readdress the Steelers issues again in week 5 if they haven't righted the ship which would make you guys very happy obviously.

For all the owning the Steelers do of the Ravens, our record is now 15-11 in favor of Pittsburgh..thats not really a lopsided record..we usually split the season series....and now maybe we'll sweep it

The Steeler fan is complaining about our jubilance over this victory?

I am thoroughly tired of Steeler fans. When they win, it is in my ear all day long. I have heard from your fans, your players, and your press, over and over and over how the Squealers were going to sweep us this year. Now that the first game is over and the beat down delivered, you don't want us to raise our voices... TOUGH. Just as in the game, you don't like it... stop it...

Are the Ravens fans a bit ebullient ? Sure because we had to listen to the dissing from the Steelers players and fans on Flacco, the national media making Flacco their off season whipping boy for the last 8 months, its not a rivalry because the steelers never lose . It sucked, but I am pretty sure most fans and the players understand this is 1 game 15 more to go.
There were a lot of unknowns with this team with the loss of Heap, Mason, MaGahee, McClain and Gregg and the offensive line woes, some of that was answered.

This is a Ravens board and we are a bit Raven centric.

This sums it up, you have every reason to be extremely happy about the Ravens in yestedays game. But a few things are left unanswered, since the game was out of hand, your run defense wasn't tested much in a normal game environment. Mendenhall seemed to have some success at first but the game plan was forced to be changed.

Now if this dominance continues over the next few games for the Ravens, I'll start drinking the kool-aid that all the pieces are coming together for you guys.

As Mod 2 said, this is a Ravens board, and if someone can't handle how happy we are, they can feel free not to post here and go hang out on the Steelers forums. Everyone knows this is only one game, the players and coaches know this is only one game, but it doesn't mean it wasn't an important game for this team's psyche. Let us enjoy ourselves for 24-hours, my goodness.

Trust me, it drives me as crazy to see irrational Steeler fans. It's like my co-worker who came into work wearing a suit but had on tennis shoes. Now it wasn't me who was being directly embarrased during the meeting with our client, but he reflects badly on my company and by association that means my company hires idiots which hence means I'm an idiot because I work for the company that hired him!

Now that is just human nature and it is why people defend their allegiance to something so vehemently.

Yes, it was just one game. But the trend started 3 years ago, we have just not been able to finish all games the way great teams need to(ie last year's playoff gift). I think you'll see a "finishing" attitude from the Ravens every game this year, regardless of the opponent.

And here's a special gift I give to Ravens and steelers fans alike; You gotta love it!

Do you actually read anything I say?? You just have an objective in your mind that you want to convey and act like I'm arguing with you.

So I can say it was luck yesterday that every fumble went right into the Ravens hands even though more than 50% of fumbles are typically recovered by the offensive team? Of course I'm not going to say that, those turnovers were CREATED by the Ravens.

I enjoy golfing and am a low 80s golfer but insist that I can always beat my friend who is a mid to high 70s golfer. But always at the end of the round when I'm giving him my typical $10 because I lost I complain that he got lucky that my drive ended up behind that tree on a particular hole when his bounced into the fairway after bouncing off a tree. But as I get older I'm realizing that most of the time you create your own luck and the result is a benefit of your skill. And now I know that he doesn't get lucky, he was just better on that particular day.

So please, to blame the refs and lucky bounces for the Ravens past losses vs the Steelers is an immature battle.

Bask in the future and don't harp on the past.

Good win Ravens.
I respect you as a steelers fan, there are few like you, but luckily we have a few that come to our boards... which we appreciate as a competitive group who loves "football".

As far as your statement, yes you could say a majority of fumbles are recovered by the offense. However, the first strip by suggs.... ben had literally a split second before he saw suggs on that stunt and got crushed ,ngata noticed it cause he was pressing ben also and looking right at the play, your RT had no clue what was going on. Ngata's forced fumble well........ whenyou literally blow up Rashard and smother both him and the ball, there is no "luck" in that, ngata is just a beast among men. Ray's FF wasnt luck either, we had 3 defenders RIGHT there to pick up the ball, and I attribute that to a good call from Chuck Pagano putting players in the right position at the right time.

Of course sometimes the football gods do look out for you, that I will not deny. yesterday, was not one of those days, I just think we had a great game plan, and an incredible desire and drive to play up to standards set by our own players and coaches, and the fact we had so many new pieces and you had no tape to figure out anything we were gonna do. To me, lets just for once, give complete credit to simply ....... a great performance. I know you werent saying it was luck totally, but I dont think any of it was luck honestly lol.
