Steelers Excuse Thread

Patriots blowing out the Titans in 09, as well as the Jets and Bears last year (along with many others). 52-7 over the skins in 07. NE does not let up. But just for the record, I really don't think we ran it up on you guys at all, Warden. I mean think about it. 29-7. One more field goal after that and it's 32-7 and a four score game. 31-7 would technically still be a three score game. That said, I thought us going for it on that fourth down after the Lewis pick was a terrible decision. Reeds pick on the next drive basically sealed the deal. Sure, there were times when I saw Joe drop back after that play and wondered "why are we still throwing?" But we had a bunch of three and outs as well as numerous runs on third down in the fourth quarter.

Try rereading what I wrote there champ.

Oh, you mean the post where you complained about us throwing in the red zone in the 4th quarter, champ? Is that what you mean, [s]champ [/s]spanky?

Yea, that took an entire half. there was 3:53 on the clock. You run the ball/kill the clock in that situation. I'll bet the Ravens would have ran the ball if thy were only up by 7. So why throw it when you're up by 25?

I'm call you guy hypocrites because, as I said, if the shoe was on the other foot here in conspiracy theory land, most of you'd be screaming bloody murder, refs and Goodell hates the Ravens. You know it; I know it.
Wait, so if we were up by only 7 with 3:53 left we wouldn't try to score a TD and work in a pass or 2 to accomplish that goal? Come on, Wardy...

Thank you, we will. It was a long time coming and we plan to revel it in for a while.

I really don't see what the big deal here is. The Ravens gave up a big lead in the playoffs last year, why the hell wouldn't they try to keep scoring? Also, why wouldn't the Steelers try to work on their 2 minute offense at the end against one of the best defenses out there? Just don't get what the big deal here is.....

The 2 point conversion put us up by 4 scores instead of 3 which would make a comeback that much more difficult. Also, when your opponent shows an obvious weakness you exploit it. The Steelers or any other good team for that matter would have done the same thing given the same circumstances.

As for throwing for a td late, it was 3rd down and what do you do on 3rd down? You try to get a first down or score. You can only run up the middle so many times before it gets stopped. Plus, we were in the red zone so its not like we had a whole lot of room to operate.

If you don't like getting scored on then stop it

Every Kid doesn't get a trophy, they get paid to score points and stop teams from scoring..... Points scored plays into the Tie Breaker down the line ( these teams have finished with identical records a good bit). if you don't like the score, either score more points or stop your oppenent. I agree with going for 2 also, if free points are on the board you take them. Especially against the Steelers.

I disagree with the charge that they ran up the score, I think they kept the play calling balanced throughout the game and weren't obviously taking shots at the Steelers. They kept level and had to have been thinking about the last game we played when we lost our lead.

This is not the type of organization that does what you are questioning. If anything, they understand what it does when a team slights you like that, and I doubt they are trying to give the Steelers anymore motivation to win the next one.

Anybody calling it like they ran up the score is simply too emotionally connected to the team to look at it from an objective point of view.

One of the classic statements, this one from Billick and we all know that "If you think we are running up on you, why don't you stop it?"

LoL...NFL is not like basketball or baseball where you can buy championship. All these guys are professional, so it's nearly impossible to running up on some body.

BUT we made it possible against the Steelers where no one I can recalled can do it to them.....

PS: Admit it Steelers fans, you came to our house and expected an easy win against us, but instead you got a memorial whooping....May be somes on your team have prepared well to come into this, but obviously most of you were cocky coming into the game...

Reading comprehension, yes..... reason, no way..... he's got you there my friend. I'm not going to get into another Ravens/Steelers argument with you again like we've always done whenever the Steelers play the Ravens, but I will say this: your reasoning is pretty messed up. We didn't stop scoring/driving because of what happened not only against you all in the playoffs last year, but also because of what happened almost all year last year whenever we lost... huge lead gone in the 2nd half because we start being conservative with the ball, which equals more time for our D to be on the field, which in turn equals our D wearing down, which then causes the other team to start being able to throw it while sleeping so to speak. Another prime example of rthat happened last year against the Patsies...... at least we both hate them together my man, lol

From the Superbowl to complaining about an opponent running up the score. How the mighty have fallen.
They have no excuse for losing 35-7 against us, so they are ultimately going to have to blame us for doing something wrong. It'll be the same way the second time we play them, and if we play them in the playoffs, then it'll be the same way when we beat them there too.

i believe that there is no such thing as "running up the score" . its called having a "killer instinct" and that is the one thing that the ravens have lacked over the years. if you can turn that off and on like a switch, the do you really even have it? i played sports my whole life and never recalled caring that someone ran the score up on me. sometimes a demoralizing loss is exactly what it takes to turn things around

Exactly why you run the clock out in that position, that area on the field and up by 25. If you're soooooo afraid of us coming back, then KILL THE CLOCK!!! duh! Throwing it shows that all you care about is scoring again; not necessarily securing the game. I don't buy that.

And again, since my point was lost thanks to my friend Johnny Reading Comprehension over here, I thought the two pointer was a brilliant move and brilliantly executed and I said as much.

Finally, this is my opinion. It' not going to change.

Yea, coming from conspiracy theory central, that's pretty funny.

I knit pick my team and I knit pick you guys and I do it consistently no matter who wins or loses so don't even try it. I am always respectful when I come in here after a Steeler win over the Ravens as well. Heck, I missed the last Raven victory over the Steelers entirely and was berated for not coming in here afterwards. Gimme a damn break man.

So the next time the Steelers beat the Ravens I guess a "Ravens Excuse Thread" will be acceptable? That way we can throw all the "refs....," NFL hates us," Hines Ward is dirty" comments and the like in one place.

Oh, you get plenty of breaks, such as not getting a warning whenever you make fun of someone for having bad reading comprehension and name calling, such as calling him 'Johnny Reading Comprehension' (thought I admit; that is funny lol). Not to mention the cussing such as D.A.M.N. Seriously dude, how do you get away with that stuff?? Give me some tips!
