Well this blows. I had a high ankle sprain a couple years ago. It was about three weeks before I could even stand up and have my weight distributed evenly on both feet. Another week and a half or so before I could run again.
I have sprained both many times (I mean a lot...weird actually) and I am always hobbling along for a month+- a week.

He wasnt a starter ya, but I dont understand him being on special teams. It was common knowledge JSmith is going to be taking over a starting spot sooner than later and moving Webb back to the nickel. Webb has been pretty mediocre and some points bad in coverage. So now we lost a guy who is better from a pure coverage standpoint than any CB we have for the next month.

No this is why we should have dumped Foxworth early and tried to get another CB. When he came in he stank in coverage. Was nowhere near his man, ever.
Yeah, let's get rid of Foxworth or dump him now, then Williams and Webb start and we can put a maligned Carr with the hamstring issue as the nickle or use even Brown, who is still wet behind the ears, to man that spot, too, or at least until Smith can come back to the fold. We are going to do well with 3 healthy corners.LMAO

Ok I know as a rookie CB you are probably goign to be on special teams but this was a pretty bad call.

Not saying he is revis but you don't see him doing it, or asomougha, or samuels, etc. If he is going to be the guy for your secondary you don't put him in there that is all there is to it.

Second- We honestly had nothing to gain by doing that, there are plenty of other people on this roster that could be a serviceable special teamer.

Harbs and co. are being very hush hush with injuries this season.. we'll probably only know how long he'll be out, but not exactly what injury he has. It's all speculation right now.

Slow your roll guys, no where does it say he has a high ankle sprain. All anyone has said is thatits a possibility.
I thought it was spoken in truth. But your right, it is just rumored that he suffered a high ankle sprain nothing definite yet. But the signs don't look good.

I'm just glad it's not his ACL. Even if it is a high ankle sprain and it severely limits him all year, at least it won't effect next year like an ACL would. I would hate for it to be basically a two year injury before he is 100% like it was for Webb and Foxworth.

It looks like he'll back back after the bye week, right on time for the Steelers game which we really needs him.

It's good the FO didn't listen to those who want to trade Foxworth...

Shhhhhhhhhhh.......Don't say that word around here. With the way those things are getting ripped this season we can only knock on wood.

But I agree. Lets get him back healthy. Crap happens. Cary is looking good. We can weather the storm.

ESPN text - High ankle sprain, out a couple of weeks.
Thanks, bud. I remember Heap was out 2 months with a high ankle sprain. This one must not be as serious, which is great news.

Not liking how injury-prone Jimmy seems to be though...

where did harbaugh say he would be out for a few weeks? and where is it rumoured to be a high ankle. all i see is aaron wilson saying its a "possibility" which any ankle sprain has that possibility.

i would really like to have him back against the jets covering holmes or plaxico. I would especially like to have him back against the texans to cover andre johnson. this is really disappointing because the main matchup i wanted to see was jimmy vs andre. lets go jimmy, get better my man

edit: nvm. i guess its high ankle. i will never know what harbaugh was thinking putting his prized cb on special teams. its killing me cuz ive been waiting since april to see jimmy in action. but what does a couple weeks mean?

I received a Ravens text (70701) that Harbaugh said it's a high ankle sprain and "will miss several weeks".

Got to understand the players train their body and do things to recover quickly than US. They got top of the line everything with top of the line doctors and rehabbing so a 4 week recovery for a high ankle sprain to us might be like a 1-2 week recovery for them. The Cowboys 1st round rookie RT hyper-extended his knee and it was reports that he might be out 4 weeks recovering and guess what...... he played the following week vs the Jets yesterday.

Glad to see he's off crutches... that's encouraging.

yea a walking boot is definitely better than crutches. maybe he has a minor high ankle sprain if thats possible. if he can come back by the jets game, that would be fantastic, if not, id still love to see him covering andre johnson after the bye. im thinking he might suit up against the jets and get a few snaps, then be back full force for the texans....hopefully not on special teams

but if there are a few weeks to miss this season, it would be the titans and rams

So we can expect Smith to be out 3 to 6 weeks.
Glad it's not worse, but it's bad enough to be without him for any amount of time.

Yup, we need him healthy for the Jets and Texans.

from what i can tell, is that jimmy has a grade 1 sprain. which is the mildest form. grade 2 sprains have tears in the ligaments and grade 3's have severe tears. since the xrays came back negative, then there was no tears. so therefor he must have a grade 1 which is stretched ligament.

My only response to this is it would have been good for him to get playing time before the Jets come to town. :(
