This game actually means a lot in the grand scheme of things even if it is one. Now that we have won and not just won but won by 28 points, that means if we end with identical records, we got to the playoffs even if we split because points for, and points again would go to us as long as we dont lose by 27 to them.

Colon is their RT, but yeah it sucks to lose a starting tackle. I think they are starting their rookie now, Marcus Gilbert. He is a decent prospect, but I cant imagine they are terribly confident in him similar to how we were hesitant to start Jah Reid.

The Steelers are still a very strong team, and I still see them making the playoffs as a WC. Remember they also have a very easy schedule...they could easily go 11-5 or even 12-4.

Pitt tends to struggle after a SB apppearance, but they will be playing the NFC West and the now neutered AFC South. Unless they are really as bad as the first game suggests, they should be just fine.

Wow! The Steelers confirmed what the Steelers had been saying. Ravens were "doing it all day" and yet "No penalties were called on the Ravens for illegal chop blocks!" There must be some kind of conspiracy! Consider your source.

Why even bring this up? I don't mean to be critcal, I'm a Steelers fan also. But this sounds like excuse making to me, and there was no excuse for that game other than the fact that we got our [profanity deleted] scrubbed in every facet of the game. It's over, it's done, the best team on that day won, and won convincingly. End of story.

Complaining by not complaining. If they "just play the game" then why are they whining about it?

You don't hear Baltimore players spouting off about how Ike Taylor headbutted Michael Oher or how Polamalu "loved up" on Ray Rice.

The notion around Pittsburgh has been that Baltimore players whine because they point out Hines Ward's (among others) dirty play, how is this different?

SIlly Attitude? Our players weren't the ones running their mouths all off season when they should of been working out or doing player run OTAs. Your team is old. Period. It showed against the Packers that Harrison was out of juice and Polamalu hasn't really been the same because of his injury. You'll win some games but you will fall back into your Superbowl Hangover because your guys didn't show up in football shape.

Disagree. We ran the ball effectively on the Squealers, where as Patriots go into the spread offense. Either way works, im sure other ways will work too against this old defense.

I wish they would stop saying things like this, it makes them sound like whiners. Those alleged illegal chop blocks had nothing to do with their offense coughing up the ball 7 times.

I bet Steeler fans think that Hines Ward is the most honorable player in the NFL with his cheapshots. And lets not forget about Captain NFL Fines James Harrison.

The Steelers got whooped plain and simple. They just need to move on to the Seahawks and worry about the Ravens in Week 9.

Their team is just as guilty with some of these stupid non-calls. Like the time when Pouncey in the AFC Championship game pushed the ball forward at least a yard during a timeout call (or some call that left the ball a the same spot).

I agree that there is no reason for the team to feel like the tables have turned completely and that the Steelers are done for, and I guarantee they are looking at it as just one game. However, the fan reaction is coming from a totally different place. Our collective attitude is not a response to the way the teams played, it is a reaction to the way the teams played in the face of all the words that were exchanged leading up to the game.

No matter what Ben or Tomlin said to the media, it was clear that the general feeling in the Steelers' locker room was that the Ravens were chumps who couldn't beat big brother. Sure, every team has bad games, but a bad game following that kind of arrogance is a whole different matter. Sure, we had the game circled on the calendar, but just like we know for a fact you all are "going to be ready" for the next game, you had to know we were "going to be ready" for this one. If you weren't, that speaks to the arrogance once again.

It's one thing to beat an opponent where there is mutual respect, it's another thing to wallop a big-headed bully. That's what the fervor on this board is about. Nobody thinks we "won the superbowl", as so many Steeler fans are snidely implying, but we know that if we maintain this level of play we certainly could make it there. The fact that we got to witness that level against the aforementioned disrespectful opponent is just icing.

I think too many people are getting ahead of themselves here. The Steelers aren't going to go away even though we spanked them. This isn't a weakly built organization. Ya'll would be foolish to think that after Wk 1 things have already changed. I dont know about the rest of you but Id rather not talk until we've beat them in the playoffs and frankly would rather not even have to see them in the playoffs. Wk 1 is one thing, the playoffs are a different animal.

As for the Hampton thing, I dont even care he can think what he wants. Im pretty sure if someone was trying to chop block him all game it would have been obvious and penalties called or he would be nursing sore knees.
