Thank You Chuck Pagano!

Pagano was definitely the right choice for our defensive coordinator. He's a players' coach, but he gets results and has coached a great game yesterday against a Roethlisberger led Steelers team. I'm looking forward to Tennessee.

Pagano deserves a lot of credit. The Steelers' offense looked confused, Ben was throwing picks, it was great. Every coordinator has a personality, and maybe his style is well suited for their offense.

I'm hoping his style is well suited for the other 30 teams too. He's a defensive genius, I'm sure his play calling and schemes will shift according to the opponent. Unlike the other guy.. I'm sure we already know what happens when you play base all game with the same 11 players throughout the whole game!

Organized Chaos is back and I thank Pagano too. I hope he hangs around for a while.

Suggs is poised for a huge year. This may be the year where he goes somewhere over 15 sacks. We really looked good defensively, I hope to see us do the same thing to the TItans Sunday. It's exciting to have a good defense and a good offense. This is going to be a great year, let's enjoy!

Mattison was solid enough to keep me from strongly disliking him, but seeing Pagano's first game as D-coordinator, I realize what the Ravens defense shouldve been. I hope Chuck stays for a few years before some team steals him to be their head coach!

Here's a question..
Who here thinks Pagano can lead this Defense to beat out our 2000 D?
I doubt it. We just don't have the corners to squeeze out defenses. Ray Lewis was in his prime.

I wouldn't get ahead of ourselves. This team will still probably hit some road bumps throughout the season. But if they do show up the 2000 Ravens D, I would be heavily elated ofcourse.

Mattison sorry he was a very nice guy but his defensive play-calling was horrible. Don't try to defend him please, it was bad.

How about we shoot for the '06 defense before '00?

I'd like to give a huge thank you to Michigan. If they hadn't offered the job to Mattison, we probably wouldn't have Pagano as DC.

We have 3 of the top 5 defensive players in the league. You could probably also say 4 of the top 10 if you throw in Suggs. Veteran superstars who have been playing with each other for so long is something special not every team can say they have.

The way Suggs has been playing including the later part of last season, Suggs is back to animal mode now and he will become the undisputed best OLB in the game ( move around Ware and Harrison ). I was a little down on Suggs a few years back questioning rather the FO should have gave him that big contract, you know....... did the contract fit the player. Guys has had like 7-8 sacks in his last 3 games and he does so much more than just get sacks, great in dropping back and run support too.

I will say this, I feel one of our guys is going to win the DPOY award rather it be Ed, Suggs, Ngata, or even Ray again even though I put him lower than the rest.

......and to think, I use to get str8 bashed around here for my criticism of Mattison from some very known, well respected guys on here and I felt that Mattison needed just as much criticism as Cam (* Cough * Flynismo and the gang, lol ). I just knew when watching Mattison style of D that in didn't best suit the players we had, they were very under used and Mattison D's along with his blitzes was very predictable. I know people will try to say that we have better CBs and pass rushers than a year ago which is true but even then, I would take Chucks aggressive style over Mattisons conservative style any day of the week, our D still would have produced better IMO.

I think the big different between Chuck and Mattison is adjusting to the playcall situation. For instance, Chuck called 3 man rush which led to 7pt from Ben, and after that, that playcall is going into the trash forever. I heard he even apologized for calling bad call. This guy is genious in utilizing all our defense players. He, Ed, and Ray are in sync..lol

I don't know what Blitz packages they were using out in field last Sunday..
Whatever it was it looked like not number 5 but the number 1 defense let alone in the AFC the whole NFL.

I'd be shocked if one of them didn't, It'd be great for Jimmy Smith to win DROY to, but i doubt it considering his injury,
