Midway through the 3rd quarter and I've seen enough!
Thank you Chuck for cleaning up Greg Mattison's mess and bringing us back to organized chaos!

We're playing nasty defense again, and I like it a lot. Pagano seemed like the right guy when I watched his interviews, and he's backing it up with his playcalling on the field.

they looked good today, Ed Reed, Suggs, Ngata, even Pernell McPhee..and of course Ray Lewis with a INT and FF

You know when your defense has forced as many turnovers as they have points given up then you've done a great job.

I too noticed that the TD came on a three man rush but thankfully Pagano didn't go back to it after it failed.

Absolutely love the game called by Pagano (except that 3 man run in the red zone. That was a little weird). Pressure is power.

We could even consider the Ravens as having 8 turnovers because they stopped the Steelers on 4th down with that sack by Suggs on the last play of the game.

The only TD was given up on a 3-man rush, hmm. Great game by him - 7 turnovers - just awesome.

its funny you say that, when i saw the 3 man rush i was reminded of Greg's defense last year...and thats the play we gave up the TD...you have to get pressure on the QB, when any QB has time to throw a WR will get open its too hard to cover guys at this level for a long time

Maybe but if you do that you have to give them the 4th & 1... I like 7 v. 0 better than 8 v. 1.

Well ya I always thought 4th down stops were considered TO though because they are considered a "turnover on downs". I just wasn't sure if ours was considered a TO because it happened on the last play of the game so really they didn't turn it over to us, we just stopped them.

We also then get credit for creating more TO than they had points though.

anyone know why kindle wasnt activated? i thought he played very well during the preseason
I'm guessing it had something to do with the game-plan. Or maybe the coaches just want to ease him in.

That the D got pressure without is a good sign though. Hopefully, he can make his official debut next week.

Pagano called an absolute stellar game, and i agree with everyone about the touchdown coming on the 3-man rush. No teams secondary can cover the endzone for 6 seconds. On third and longs in the middle of the field against less mobile quarterbacks, or younger quarterbacks who could have trouble finding holes in an 8 man zone it would be okay, but you know Big Ben is one of the best at extending the play. Only defensive play of the game i would question from Pagano...one slightly questionable call in a game....ill take that any day

After the Steelers first T.D. He knew he can't let Ben has time to throw the ball. so he use more people to pressure Ben. we all know how Ben end up. Last D.C he never learn. HE let all the Q.B had all day to throw. i just dont know how we chose him over Chuck Pagano. i know just one game, but Pagano is smarter then last D.C...

I think Greg Mattison and Harbs coached together in college, which is why he got the initial nod over Mr. Pagano in replacing Rex.

Pressure is a beautiful thing.

Pagano made one mistake and that was when he rushed only three in the red zone that gave up a td. Brought back painful memories for Mattison. But that was his only mistake.

His stunts on the line that opened up Suggs and Ngata were just beautiful. Rarely did we need to rush more than 4 and rarely did the Steelers pickup the blitz without feeling any pressure. 7 turnovers isn't by chance. Baltimore seems to be the place for genius defensive minds

The way he has progressed is better than anyone expected. Still he is probably less prepared than he would have been in his rookie season being over a year removed from football. They are gonna ease him in, and he will make his case on ST play. I expect to see him in the lineup sometime this season though.

Did anyone else notice how much we were rotating guys in and out on defense? It seemed like we were really taking advantage of our depth to keep everyone fresh

And that's the difference in the game. Rotating the guys and giving you many different looks.

Thats the beauty of building a team through the draft instead of over paying high priced guys like (Aso). The depth is amazing. It was apparent in all of our pre season games. We can afford to rotate guys because we are deep.

Instant swag on defense, its back. That was exactly how defense should be played, constantly on the attack, relentless.

We have 3 of the top 5 defensive players in the league. You could probably also say 4 of the top 10 if you throw in Suggs. Veteran superstars who have been playing with each other for so long is something special not every team can say they have.
