Adrian Peterson is signing a seven-year, $100 million deal with $36 million guaranteed, per league source.
Why do I get the feeling that Ray Rice's price just went up..

Wow.... Vikings also overpaid to keep their star player similar to what the Cardinals did to Fitzgerald. I understand paying him like a elite RB but $100 Million?? Too Much.

I understand Fitzgeralds contract, he is the Cardinals, and one of the best receives in the past 10 years. But AP getting paid $100 mill? Ehhhh.... Didn't you just release players because of cap room?

Wow.... CJ has got to be ticked.

$30M guaranteed compared to $36M isn't horrendous, but yeah, hes probably pissed!

Ya this makes sense to me because AP is the Vikings as well. He's also reasonably young (although not for a RB) but he hasn't been a team cancer by holding out or pleading for more money. Just a classy guy.

I immediately thought of Rice when I saw this. I wonder what he and his agent will be looking for and how high Ozzie and company will be willing to go...

I hope he is. He's an overentitled moron, complete waste of space imo. His first holdout made sense, but it annoys me at all these players who sign contracts then back out of it. You're getting 6 figures+ in your mid-twenties to play a game.

I don't know, but it scares me. I really want to keep Rice.

Worried about Rice as well. But do the Vikings really think AP is gonna last another 7 years? He's entering his 5th season. The more carries he gets, the quicker he will wear down.

I'd never lock up a high priced running back past 29. There is no way he's going to perform to that contract for more than 3 years, less than half the term of the contract. Ray Rice is a little younger and takes less punishment, so I could see us giving him a 4 or 5 year deal. 7, for a 26 year old, bruising running back just seems foolish.

Its $36M guaranteed....if they get 3/4 years, thats all they're looking for. Pay no mind to the $100M portion.

Haha Chris Johnson skips training camp and whines and complains and gets his $53.5 million dollar contract. Peterson does the right thing and keeps his mouth shut, and gets a $100 million dollar contract. CJ2K is probably fuming.

We might have to look at other options at HB if Rice wants to be paid like that.

Anyway this was a stupid move on their part, with his workload he'll only be able to keep up his current production for another 2-3 seasons. He'll be a backup by the time he's 29.
