Biggest Surprise Of Game 2

10 posts in this topic

What was the biggest surprise of our week 2 game.

I am going with our DB play. We were facing an "elite" offense (that is what many in the media proclaimed). We made them look horrible. A lot of people called our DB's old and were judging them based on last years injury plagued season. Grant you, it wasn't that big of a surprise to us, we all knew what they were capable of. But to do it in such a fashion and to hold D. Anderson to a 22 passer rating even surprised me.

THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A POLL (but the poll didn't show up for some reason)
1) Flacco's two interceptions
2) The dominance by our DL - 3 sacks
3) Our DB play - 3 interceptions and a TD
4) Stover's Missed Field Goal
5) McClain leading our team in rushing yards
6) Our TOP was greater than 15 minutes over the Browns

Gotta say I'm very happy with our clock management. The last 2 games weve held the ball for about 15 minutes of the 4th quarter. This is HUGE! Flacco and the offense are really controlling the clock and I like the play calling by Cam Cam (minus the flee flicker ).

Stover missing a FG in each of the 1st 2 games is also a pretty big surprise though...

As for the defensive line and DB's --> Im not really that surprised with them. Impressed yes, but not surprised. They are playing at the level weve all been expecting out of them and are performing great. I guess I actually was really surprised with Leonhard. He filled in for Figurs and Landry and was a BEAST this game.

I'm not surprised by Stover's miss at all, he just doesn't have the leg for FGs longer than 40 yards anymore

I am most surprised by our secondary totally shutting down top receivers again. First the two Pro Bowlers in Cincy then the 2 Pro Bowlers in Cleveland, and the secondary was supposed to be our weakness... it sure helps to have an amazing DL putting pressure on the QBs huh?

Biggest surprise here is the strong play by the O-line. Not only doing well protecting Flacco, but enabling the rushing game to do so well.

i agree that the O-Line play was pretty fantastic in game 2.. i think they are getting alot more comfortable with Flac behind them... which will bode well for us with the Steelers coming up...

the biggest surprise has to me has to me Stovers misses.. for me it beginning to show signs of his aging and the deterioration of his once iron boot.
If we cant begin to count on the usually sure footed HOF kicker then who can we count on.

hopefully that doesnt come off as a little drastic.. but its just an observation of the last 2 or 3 seasons.

4) Stover's Missed Field Goal

That bothered me too.

1) Flacco is a rookie it was bound to happen.
2) No real surprise to me
3) Exciting for sure, but not the most surprising thing of game two.
5) & 6) After last week I expect that to become the norm.
Again going for it TWICE on fourth down in the fourth quarter. Way to go Cam !!!!!!!!!

flacco's lack of downfield throwing development with his receivers is surprising and disappointing.. those are the kind of throws you hope a big man can make
you should probably add that flacco has yet to be sacked this season too
Alex Hall got him.

It wasnt too much of a big surprise. I know Flacco didnt throw for a TD but it doesnt matter. We gotta run more then pass. Itll ease him into the NFL and when he eventually gets more confident he can start throwing for long TDs. After all it is his rookie season. Lets not kill him out there by putting too much pressure on his shoulders.
