He said ed is probably greatest safety of all time.

But if you ask any steeler fan, their very own Troy Polamalu is lying, or was mis-quoted.

They both are the best at what they do. FS vs SS. As we all know, Ed Reed started the season on the PuP list and still lead the league in interceptions last season. That's a great player.

Reed is the G.O.A.T. at the Safety position, but he needs a ring to really solidify that. Polamalu already has 2.

Hahaha I know. They act ignorant even to what their own players say.

Troy Polamalu is a really is a classy guy. Too bad we can't say that about most of their team...

Troy is a class act and an awesome safety, one of the best. Sure wish I could have seen them play on the same team together, don't think you could have a better tandem than that. IMO possibly two of the best waffles in the game in the AFC north.

I'd take him over anyone but Ed Reed. The man carried us for years when we had no QB or offense to speak of. You can't win a SB that way anymore, the Steelers have an amazing combination of everything. That's why all of their players get to have multiple rings.

I was not trying to disrespect Polamalu, he's awesome in every way (besides his voice). All joking aside I would love to have him on our team. I wonder how that would work with Reed and Polamalu on the same team...

I think they will end up with very similar final career stats when they hang them up. I've got to say I think Troy is slightly better now, but he is a lot younger and Ed has been suffering with some serious injuries over the past couple seasons. Regardless they are both 2 of the top players in the league regardless of position. Some people say that safeties aren't nearly as valuable as a good qb, but you saw how untrue that can be when the steelers lost Troy compared to when they lost Big Ben. They were much more sucessful without Ben than without Troy, which leads me to believe that Troy is at least as valuable to them as Ben is.

I was just about to say this. There's definitely something odd about hearing Pittsburgh heap all this praise on Baltimore right now, all of a sudden. Anyone else hoping that they're just getting ready to accept defeat? Haha, stupid question, I know we all are.

It's the start of a new season. I can't wait for the "fire cam" threads that will start after the steelers game win or lose.

I like how the Ravens have for the most part stayed out the battle of words. I listen and look at a lot of different sports media and i don't recall hearing anything. Strangest Steelers/Ravens week ever!

I already tried starting one the other day. Well not exactly calling for him to be fired but posing a hypothetical about if he gets fired, who are the front runners to be the next offensive coordinator. The thread got shut down in like 3 minutes. I searched for another Cam thread but didn't find any and figured it would be better to discuss something current than to bring up an old thread from who knows how long ago.

Guess I figured wrong.

He speaks the truth but give him credit for stating the truth - very classy! Now if only the dumb Steeler fans or the fake pundits would listen....

Half the team is talking trash and the other half is sucking up, they're really worried.
what do they have to be worried about? Last I checked Ben is playing on Sunday, and that almost solidifies a win. Going up against a Ben led steeler team isnt the same as a Dixon or Batch led team. This team plays with a completely different fire about them when number 7 in under Center

3 more days until the most explosive start to an NFL season. Its gonna be great way to kickoff the new year

This is dumb because they scored more points in the game they lost last season. Flacco won it with 40 seconds left. The Steelers deserve to be favored, but this game is far from a lock.

But they aren't "worried." Different players have different ways of going about their business. Some talk trash, and others are respectful of their opponent.

Yeah... got to agree with Troy. That being said troy is a very close second. It is too bad they are both injury prone.

Contrary to what has been said, I don't think Troy was lying or misquoted. He' just humble.

exactly. its just a shame that is a concept that is, for the most part, lost on society today

I would still rather have troy over ed, just like you would rather have ed over troy

The only joy I will take when Ed Reed finally retires is knowing that Polamalu will be joining him soon after.

Ed Reed is a one of a kind guy, a play maker on defense. He can greatly change the momentum of the game with his ability to free lance and read the opposing QBs eyes and create crucial turnovers.

Troy Polamalu fits a similar mold. While he isn't as great when it comes to interceptions he has the ability to play like an LB and help out in the run game as well as in blitzing. His versatility always has the offense making sure to keep an eye on him.

I'd say Ed Reed is a the greater player because he adds a whole another dimension to how the offense will gameplan against the Ravens. However, last season the Ravens still performed pretty well in his absence for the first 6 games and while the defense wasn't great it still did it's expected job.

Troy Polamalu is the more crucial player and the one that the Steelers defense relies on. With his ability to play multiple aspects on the defense Dick Lebeau can take advantage of his defensive schemes and take advantage of Troy's talents to confuse the offense and open up space for his other players. If you look back to '09 when Troy Polamalu was out for an extended period of time the Steelers weren't themselves and lost a string of bad games to opponents they normally crush. He is highly important to how they perform as an overall team.

I believe both players got drafted into the right teams and have already cemented their names as one of franchises best players ever, as well as in NFL history.

i agree with you. if they will have the same stats when they´re both done depends on how long ed will play. i give him 3 more seasons including this one at best. he seems to be healthy nowand doesn´t have to hit like troy. troy also is injured from time to time but not like ed was.

for me ed is the best free safety and troy is the best strong safety...

the best overall sefety is troy right now....
