James Hardy On IR?

46 posts in this topic

Now of course this should be taken with a grain of salt, but I saw on the Ravens Wikipedia page that James Hardy was still on the roster, listed as being on the IR. Has anyone else heard about this from anywhere? Again, I know Wikipedia is not always reputable, but figured I'd at least bring it up to see if there was any truth to it.

nope, they cut James Hardy so I dont know why they'd have him listed on IR...

unless the news was wrong, but from many different sources Hardy was cut

Yeah that's what I heard as well. Just figured I'd at least check to make sure I wasn't going crazy.

According to Aaron Wilson on Twitter:

RavensInsiderAaron Wilson

Ravens WR James Hardy reverted to reserve/injured list after going unclaimed after being waived/injured. Injury settlement candidate.

He may go to IR, or they may release him with a injury settlement payment.

put him on IR and give him a shot next season. He was open in the end zone and Cantwell severely underthrew him!
another shot to prove how injury prone he is....this kid has skill but he's more injury prone than Mathew Stafford

Ya we never really did get a chance to take a long at him, I think we should take a chance on the kid and give him an opportunity to show what he can do on the field.

Well, he's worth another look. I won't complain about having him as a camp body. IF he stops getting hurt he could be really good. And yes, I know I said if. I realize the odds of this are slim to none. He's just getting another shot. He won't hurt us by getting another shot.

Is everyone forgetting his first season ended in an injury. His sophomore season ended in an injury. He missed nearly all of this preseason with an injury. If he were capable of staying healthy he would have gotten that look. However, he's shown every year he'd injure himself fighting his way out of a paper bag.

I see no reason to bother wasting more time watching him ride the pine for weeks with some lingering injury before playing one game. This is the same exact reason why some people here wanted rid of Gooden, great potent trumped by injury concerns. The only difference is Hardy's a wide out.

Hardy is not a good WR. I dont want to slam the guy for what he didn't do in Buffalo considering he had Trent Edwards as his QB but still.

Yep, and keeping him as a camp body is a total detriment to the team. He's so injury prone, (potentially) keeping him for next years TC is going to make us suck.

Not.

What good did he really do us this year as a camp body? Probably quite a bit with that hamstring of his. Camp body or not, you still have a limited amount of players, period. There's no point keeping someone as fragile as Hardy, as a camp body or not. Use his spot on someone who can actually step on the field.

Nice try at being smug.

A camp body isn't really supposed to do good... He's a BODY. How much more specific can it get? Wait, use his spot on someone that can step on the field? Like who? Another WR that would get cut? Naw, we can't do that! That's a waste of a roster spot! Funny. I'm trying to find out how it hurt the team... Now that's a mystery...

Sorry, I'd prefer a camp body who we could potentially use. Not waste our time. Before you start with more unneededly snide, arrogant comments, where did I ever say he's hurt the team as "camp body"? I didn't, I said it'd be a waste of time. Excuse manic I'd rather have someone in camp who could actually get on the field and maybe be as asset to this team.

Please explain to me what he point of having someone in camp who doesn't even get on he field? He's not running routes to show what became do or push other receivers to step up their game and be competitive when he's nursing a hamstring. He's not challening defensive backs and helping them show what they can do when he's favoring another leg injury. So I can totally see how having him in any capacity would be a huge benefit to this team in any point of the offseason process. I mean, hell, we got to see him shine in one preseason this year. Oh wait...

Get real.

The Ravens should cut their losses with Hardy. Not worth the time or effort of waiting for possible potential.
Why? we gave D Will 4 years and we gave Clayton 5? Let him heal and if he gets injured next season, cut ties but give the man a fair shake

We should have learned from out mistakes with the fellow man of glass you mention, Williams. Hardy's been injured every season since he got drafted, I see no reason why anyone should expect anything else.

We did give him a fair look. We signed him during last season, we didn't intentionally hold him back, his body held him back.

I think it's pretty obvious that 1. Hardy is a waste of time and 2. We are not going to waste our time or roster spots on a guy who is like 40 with practically no NFL game experience, and have no idea if he could even handle being an NFL player if he was healthy (for once).

I don't see what the fuss is about. He is a body. What the heck is he hurting? Especially since it's not even next years TC yet.

I personally don't care either way. If he goes I'm happy, if he stays I'll be happy. All I know, either way, it doesn't hurt the team.

Don't tell me to "get real" sir. Because I remember having a eerily similar debate with you about Gooden...

And weren't you complaining because "Gooden's always hurt, he's a waste of spot" Now you're clamoring to waste additional time on an always hurt receivers who's seen even less of the field. Way to point out your hypocrisy. I said I didn't really mind him being on the team, because at least he's seen the field sometimes, which is more to say for Hardy. Gooden's at least had two seasons with double digit games played, sure he didn't a full 16, but neither has Hardy. And now, in Hardy's third season, he's done for the year yet again. So three years, and 16 games played. At least Gooden played in 26 games his first three years.

And thanks for negging me, I'm oh so upset that your feelings are hurt that someone may just so happen to disagree with your love for Hardy

Waste of time, surely we should have learned the lessons of the ghosts of D.Cody, D.Will and Goodens past. We've missed out on picking up and evaluating people who could be contributing right now.

You know what they say about assuming things...

Hardy may not get a second second chance. You're complaining about something that simply hasn't happened yet. I also don't understand why you keep throwing in minor personal attacks, when I'm just voicing my opinion. Some maturity.

And I don't love Hardy, I merely think that POTENTIALLY keeping him around for TC as a camp body would not be that bad. But obviously, it's a terrible idea.

I'm sorry, you're the one whose done nothing but throw out smug, snide remarks. So do stop complaining because I'm just doing what you've been doing to me from the start. I didn't complain about anything, I simply said it'd be a waste of time to spend more time on Hardy in any capacity, nothing more, nothing less. You then start throwing out condescending, arrogant remarks towards me because I see no point in using a spot on him next year.

So do not challenge my maturity, when you jumped on me first for my opinion and disagreement with you. Had you left out the snide remarks in your posts, perhaps I'd left out what you consider personal attacks, which are not. They are simply me pointing out your immature remarks.

Okay, so I "jumped on you". I humbly apologize. I was just trying to make a point.

Okay, I made some snide remarks. But when did I actually attack you? Can you quote me?

When I said get real? When I said "Nice try at being smug." (which I wasn't by the way) When I said "And thanks for negging me, I'm oh so upset that your feelings are hurt that someone may just so happen to disagree with your love for Hardy"? That must be it.

Sorry If you interpreted an attitude in my first post, that was just my opinion.

I simply said I didn't see why it would hurt the team. And you have yet to convince me it would. It's especially funny, because it's not even next years TC, and you've already started complaining about it. Answer me this:

Does it make us worse?

You made snide remarks towards me, I never did anything worse than you did to me. And once again, when did I EVER say it'd hurt the team? Ever? I didn't. I, for the third time, only said it'd be a waste of time. Just as you said Gooden was a waste of time because he was always injured, never once did I'd say it'd be determential to the team to bring him back.

There are ways of debating and bringing snouts points without an attitude. So saying sorry, that's just how you brought it about doesn't make it any less uncalled for. Especially for something I never once even said, that being Hardy being bad for the team. So sorry if I get a little miffed at someone being rude to me over a statement that I never made.
