Game 2 - Browns

34 posts in this topic

Amazing showcase by the Ravens.

I thought this game would tell us a lot about our team and it did. It told us that the Bengals game was not a fluke. We did the exact same thing, we ran the ball, we played awesome defense, we managed the clock and we won the game.

I was overly impressed with the defense. It seemed as if we had the Browns running scared. Everytime Derek Anderson threw the ball I felt a pick more than a completion. You have to love that feeling.

The Matchups:
The offensive line shut down Shaun Rodgers.
T-Sizzle schooled Joe Thomas.
Raven's DBs shut down Edwards, Winslow and Anderson.

I was a bit disappointed with the trick play. It was asking to much. Flacco was good again. He showed that he can come back after a mistake.

First quarter and a half we slipped a little rest of the game we showed the first game was the real deal.

Shut down d, up and coming offense.

We have to be the #1 defense after that performance. I like the stat about opposing QB's passer ratings. Derek Anderson I think had a 22 passer rating against us. We held Carson to a career low in Game 1.

The defense came on stronger as the game went on. We really instilled a sense of fear in the Browns.

LOVED the playcalling from Mr. Cameron. he gave some plays for Flacco to go downfield, and he did his part in making rookie mistakes. But, his ball placement is perfect when he makes a pass. like one play where mark clayton was 1 on 1 with a browns d back (who, by the way, sneakily held onto claytons hand and prevented him from catching the ball), flacco threw the ball beautifully to clayton, in-stride. i see a lot of promise for the offense. our running game has yet again proved its effectiveness with mcclain, mcgahee, and rice.

As for the defense, same'ol, same 'ol.
Derek Anderson had a 22 passer rating. we had 5 sacks. we had 3 picks. contained the run. contained braylon and winslow jr.. nothing more to say here ;)

I didn't get too excited after the first game, but after this game, I'm sure that the Ravens can make it to the post-season. I'm most impressed with Flacco. He will probably get critizized for the interceptions, but anyone that watched the game could tell that he had great control over the offense. As he gets better, the Ravens can only get better.

Also, I think that McGahee was a WARRIOR. He had blood pouring out of his eye and he still kept going in. I was inspired by him. All the people that were talking trash about him should be ashamed. He laid eveything on the field, came away with a TD and most importantly, helped the team get a win. I hope that Mike Preston writes him a personal apology.

The fourth and 1 in the fourth quarter, where we went for it to keep the clock going. Wonderful! Even though the game was in hand we were able to push our time of possession even further ensuring no craziness.

We still need to sure up our turnovers on offense. I think the trick play was stretching it. It could have worked, but instead it was an interception. There were not too many negatives in that game for us.

The play where we let them score a touchdown on that 3rd and 9 was probably our worse stance in the game. The screen pass totally got us, there weren't even that many active blockers on that play.

Yea this game definitley doubled my excitement.

I love the defensive play where Bannon lined up as a linebacker. And pretty much bullrushed into their OL line. I think we ended up getting a knock down on that play. Rex Ryan is so creative.

Romeo Crennel was either stunned on the sideline or thinking about what to have for dinner.

Only 5 penalties but two interceptions and the missed FG
Nice to eat up the clock again in the 4th.
44 rushes for 151 yds.

I don't know why they don't use Harrison more.
Did he even touch the ball again after that?
( I don't think so )

That is two games with 100+ rushing yards. Sounds like the AFC way to me. What's even nicer is that we are adding a passing threat more and more every game.

No they didn't. We should have stopped that play though.

We came into the game that way, and easily left that way, but bare in mind that we've only had two games where everyone else has had three.

We got the win so we did great. :D I was impressed w/ the perfomance overall, Flacco looked like a rookie I seen one time Heap was wide open and he didn't see him, plus the two int's but he's got a good team around him and he'll improve.

I bashed McGahee, and he impressed today, showed alot of heart and determination to achieve out there. Everyone played well today. I liked how the OL played today, they can maul on running plays, I think this only improves with time. Flacco made the one bad mistake on the first INT, and the second was imo a dumb play call, works in high school.... thats about it. Good try i guess, it was like a punt. He was efficient though, 13/19 he managed the game and the running game came through yet again.

The D played like the #1 D we all know they are. Barring injuries, they are the best in the league.

All I can say is, if the Squealers allow 7 sacks to the eagles D who got no pass rush in Big-D..... How many can we get next monday night? I'm actually looking forward to this game now, because I think we have a great shot to win.

Agreed that Flacco looked more the rookie today than last week and it is fortunate for him the Defense is how it is. I'm just hoping he gets a bit more into his groove and learns the offense and the game speed quickly. I'm sure the Steelers are looking to get back to the top of the division on Monday night. He'll need to buckle up the chin strap all week in preparation for a win.

The best part about this victory is, no matter how bad the Bengals or the Browns end up being this season, no one can devalue the importance of this game or the last since both were against two of the Ravens' three divisional rivals.

Should the Ravens beat the Steelers next week to go 3-0 in the division, then there shouldn't be any doubt about the team's ability. After all, divisional games are the most important factor in claiming a playoff berth.

A win's a win, and if the opponents on the schedule turn out to be weak, then so be it.

To me, this game was another team victory. When the offense made mistakes, the defense bailed it out. When the defense was being chipped away, the offense picked up the slack. When the defense came up with opportunities, the offense capitalized. And the special teams unit was mostly solid, making it easier for both the offense & defense to do their jobs.

The Steelers game will be the focal point of our season. If we can beat a top notch team (as everybody views them) in the Steelers, than we are for real. We will also have a strangle hold on the AFC North. Beating each division rival at least once no doubt will be beneficial for the playoff chase.

The Victory against the Bengals was nice, the win agains the Browns even better, the best would be a win against the Steelers. I cannot wait for Monday Night Football.

Monday Night Football, our team will be on exibit to the nation. I hope we can pull off another win. The Steelers OL struggled immensely today, we should reap the benefits from this. I am looking for a lot of sacks agains Big Ben.

Great game, especially from a Ravens fan point of view. What was not to like?

First off, the Dawan Landry injury. :o

The 2 Interceptions thrown by Flacco. The first was throwing into too much coverage of which I'm sure he realized was a mistake too late, and the second would've been fine if had gotten the ball back quickly enough. Because it wasn't as quick as the play call had probably hoped for, he might've been better off just running it.
And of course the Browns TD was not too likable either.

Otherwise, this Ravens team after 2 games is dominating from the Defensive side. And the Offense is finally showing what it is capable of. Even Joe is not too worried about taking chances as he feels comfortable with the offensive schemes and doesn't get too upset with himself after making a mistake. He is learning quickly, learning fast. Just think about how he might look come December? I know, I know. Only 2 games thus far, let's not get ahead of ourselves. But overall, what is not to like so far? :P

First quarter and part of the second had me VERY nervous.

D bounced back first then O jumped right in line.

Cam with great play calling and fnatastic time management.

I love going for it on 4th down twice ( three times? ) in the fourth quarter.

Fantastic play calling.

That, my friend, is called gamesmanship.

Most people would think that Baltimore was being arrogant by going for it on 4th down with the lead. But in converting those 4th downs, the Ravens were able to keep the ball out of the Browns' hands without truly disrespecting Cleveland by trying to run up the score. The whole point is to preserve the lead, and in effect, the win.

I love what I'm seeing from this offense, and playoffs or no playoffs this season, I still have a lot of optimism for the near-future.

After watching our D-line go crazy in the fourth quarter, I can't wait to see what we do to Rothlisberger. I just heard he got sacked 8 times and left with a hand injury. It's great to have Trevor Pryce back! You can't double up Suggs and Pryce, but on top of that you have Jarrett Johnson to worry about as well. We will win those man to man battles in the trenches any day of the week. We are going to have a field day against Rothlisberger if we have the same performance.

Just imagine the kind of damage that defensive line could do if Roethlisberger is out and Byron Leftwich gets the starting nod. :o

Remember, other than that hand injury sustained in today's game, Big Ben is still nursing a shoulder injury that was further aggravated in the Browns game last week...

But, let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Next week is next week.

Let's all enjoy this victory for at least another day or so, and then we can worry about our chances against the Steelers. ;)

If we are gonna be a elite team our pass offense needs to step it up big time. I know Flacco is a rookie but in order to beat the Steelers, or Cowboys of the NFL we cannot be 1-dimensional. He doesn't need to be the second coming of Tom Brady, he just needs to make good decisions and score touchdowns.

After today, I am convinced. We are in the playoffs...and everyone is going to start to notice after next week's nationally televised win against the steelers...
3-0 in the division, and thats all we need to worry about.

We have the Purple People Eaters Again!!!

hard to say something new.... but one thing i enjoyed watching taday was how the offense moved before the ball was snaped... people were in motion, shifting... mixing it up and i liked it...something new

GO RAVENS!

I agree...somewhat. Flacco isn't throwing a bunch of TD's just yet mostly because of the play calling. He only threw 19 times today and completed 13 of them. 68.4% One of his INT's was definitely his fault. The other, eh. The bottom line is we scored 3 offensive touchdowns. That's a huge improvement over recent history. We had the ball for over 15 and a half minutes longer than the Browns did so our offense was most assuredly efficiently today. This is a team game and we got it done in all 3 phases today.

all Flacco really has to do is focus on the short and intermediate passes.

I like the term a "Bunch of TD's just yet", Flacco has yet to throw his first TD. I hope this happens against the Steelers.

There is a sense of comfort though with having Flacco as our QB. You get the feeling that the days of 3 and outs might be over. Flacco is doing his part to move the chains.

I wouldn't put Monday night's game in the W column yet, guys... Flacco has NEVER seen the type of D that the Steelers employ, and he threw two bad INTs against the Browns. Besides that, we have stunk on the road AND in night games (especially Monday Night)... so let's not talk any trash and just play the game and see what happens.

Your exactly right. Monday night will be a tough game. Steelers are known for their defense just as much as we are.

They are going to do what the Bengals and Browns couldn't do to us....Stop the Run. If they can do this they will force Flacco to win the game for us. That's a tough task considering the blitz packages and great DB's that they will employ.

Flacco standing in the bright lights of Heinz Field. Thousands of yellow "terrible towels" (serious how is a towel terrible, it makes me dry) waiving.
