Too many fans are bashing birk on here, he was getting his knee drained weekly yet still did perform well in his position last year. Biggest factor last year was having Chester beside him. With grubbs & Yanda beside him at guard birk already got better. And if the knee troubles him we now have great depth but imo Birk will be starting this season until/unless he gets hurt.

Dont have time to give you a real answer right now; I'll come back to this later on.
For now I'll just say that they make up wierd ambiguous formulas to create their own rankings. I don't have a problem with that. I have a problem with the results of their formulas ... many examples of that on their site (and mentioned here on the forums)

Alright, when you give your "real answer" about the "ambiguous" formulas (they don't really use formulas in the pay part of the site, some of the staff do right articles and in that they sometimes independently make up a formula to write an opinion article, but this is just so the site gets more views and has free public content, so I think you're unfairly judging them because it's not even the actual site that you're judging) Either way even those independent formulas are pretty straight up.

Anyway, I just can't accept your criticisms. Basically what it boils down to is that you can't accept the results. The site itself doesn't even cross-compare different positions, but they have an extra-opinion-article which did a top 100 players thing (just one writer did it, iirc Khaled Elsayed) and he came up with some rankings that people really disagreed with like Matt Ryan being the #8th best player of the 2010 NFL season, etc. I think this is what people disagreed with. They disagreed with the results of a study. You have no problem with the method or the science, but it's the results that "are just preposterous." I know some mods on here have certain theological and political beliefs so I won't get into that to make an analogy, but some people, no matter how much evidence, studies, or anything is presented to them they're basically going to do this with it:

If the result of the experiment or study supports what I already think, then I agree with it.
If the result of the experiment or study is contrary to my current beliefs, then it must be wrong.

I don't want to flesh out why this is an error in reasoning in fear that I might flame some members or something, so I'll just leave the rest to everyone's imagination.

i dont recall asking anyone to accept my criticism. The end result of their 'findings' are ridiculous. That's my opinion.

And if you would have read carefully, I said I don't have a problem with them devising their own rankings. That does not mean I agree with their methods. I just acknowledged that they do things their own way, and I'm fine with that.

So in a nutshell, that long rant was pointless, since it has nothing to do with what I said.
