Meriweather tried to kill Heap twice last year. He's a cheap shot artist...no place for that on our team.

That's the exact reason that I would not want him on the team. Chemistry means a lot. Meriweather is a hot head or he'd be starting in NE.

Very well said. Teams that do things the right way (Pats, Steelers, Ravens, Eagles etc.) barring a salary cap issue, release a guy for a reason. Meriweather is a HUGE liability in the running game and his skills as a deep safety arent that great.

Not being argumentative, but I don't like some of the moves the Eagles made (getting Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie AND Nnamdi when they already had Samuel, picking up Babin and ignoring the LB mess) and the Pats getting Fat Albert... but I agree with the principle you stated - that good teams know when to let go of the aging vets, and build through the draft.

Having said that, I saw that the Vikes got Xavier Adibi - he was a player I thought could be worth signing.

Eagles made some great moves. ignoring the LB will come back to haunt them, but the Eagles got DMC and Nmadi who are elite cover guys. They will use Samuel in the slot or trade him. Asante is overrated. He bites on everything. He will give up 20 big plays and make 10 big plays. Not the kind of stud corner a Super Bowl team needs. I think the eagles should try and swing Asante for a MLB and a draft pick. if they did that I would be saying Super Bowl for them.

And Fat Albert didnt cost the Pats anything. He is a top 10 DL who is being given one last chance. Everyone said the same thing about Moss and he was ELITE for a couple of years, they sold high on him, and got some AMAZING production. Belichek does make some moves out of pure ego in my opinion, but I liked the Hayneworth move. Very similar to when we bring in a troubled guy. We have the structure set up to deal with them

To me that hinges on the defense because honestly wilfork is way better than haynesworth. And in 3-4 haynesworth is not great to say the least. But a 4-3 with wilfork and haynesworth that could be very potent.

We have Birk insurance, see Bryan Mattison.

I do want OL depth, but I think we need a guard more than a tackle.

I want a vet QB, but only if it's good value.

See Gurode.

How bout just released QB David Garrard
[/quote]
Nah apperantly he wasn't very well liked amongst his team mates because he would blame his mistakes on other eg. offensive line an receivers.

See the date I posted that..... Before we got him, right?

At the time I posted that, I was content with Mattison, but then I had a nightmare about him blocking Hampton...

That nightmare likely occured after we signed Gurode though right?

Right before. It was like a premonition. I am glad we got Gurode, now that I think about it. Well, I was never upset we got him, I just thought he was unneeded.

Haha nice, I agree Mattison was looking good. As you mentioned before though we could use some depth at guard and with Gurode's versatility that might have been why we picked him up.
