Top Rookie Preformers This Preseason

10 posts in this topic

So, now that the preseason is over, I just wanted to go over some of the top rookie performers this preseason, so here's who I think that had made their point, that they were going to be an official NFL player.

1: Pernell McPhee- We should all know how well he did this preseason, even though he only had 1 sack, he was getting off the fast, and in the QB's face, he really impressed. His stats are 9 total tackles including assist, 2 pass deflections, 1 sack, and LOTS of QB hurries!

2: Anthony Allen- Now this guy was stellar this preseason, he racked up 75 yds, 4th behind Tyrod Taylor's 106 yds, he also had 6.8 yds per carry, amazing right! Excluding his dropped game winning TD he was absolutely stellar, his longest run was a 20 yrd run against the redskins. Oh yea, he also put the hammer on the falcons players.....just running ova guys, like he Steven Jackson!

3: Laquan Williams- Beast is all that sums this guy up, he showed off his hands with 4 rec, 84 yds, he can even punt return.....who knew, cause didn't, he had 2 returns, a 38 yrd return, and had 35.5 yds per return. Well I think everybody knows that he's going to be our punt returner.

There's a lot more I would like to talk about but I'll just put them on the bottom, so here they are and their stats.

Tyrod Taylor: http://www.nfl.com/p...495240/gamelogs

Tandon Doss: http://www.nfl.com/p...495449/gamelogs

Josh Bynes: http://www.nfl.com/p...530491/gamelogs (second on the team in tackles behind L.Webb)

Well those are my top rookie performers.

PS: Jimmy Smith & Cary Williams best soon to CB tandem in my opinion.

Pernell McPhee will be a starter for us for many, many years and I believe if Pro Bowl voting is changed to Associated Press votes instead of fan boys that McPhee might even be a pro bowler one year. The guy cant be stopped. He is hungry.

Kruger isn't a rookie.

I know, I was going to correct it, but I didn't have enough time,in other words I was too sleepy,

for me it´s both mcphee and williams. smith did a good job too but that wasn´t a suprise at all. doss was awesome with his hands but that also didn´t suprise me much. i was a little suprised in the wrong way by t.smith. i hope he can bounce back and be a good player for us when his time comes.
i think the pressure of maybe being the second wr on the team by the start of the season was a little too much for him. glad we got evans. still cannot figure out what was wrong with the bills that they let him go...

McPhee was a very nice surprise indeed. As was LaQuan who has more than made his case for a roster spot. I also didn't expect to see Tyrod look so good for the most part while he was in.

Slightly off topic but league wise Von Miller has looked an absolute monster for Denver. Even though Dareus still seems like the more logical pick. Also, some of the worst performers IMO are Cam Newton, Andy Dalton and Colin Kaepernick. They have looked horrible.

I agree with everything you just said right there. The reason I didn't put Jimmy Smith as a top performer, not to say he wasn't cause he was, but It's just that he did not surprise me, I had a feeling that he was going to do his job well, he was already expected to be the #1 or #2 CB.

McPhee was a beast, I hope he can give a fraction of that production against the first team at some point in time. Getting any value at all out of a fifth round pick is always nice.

On the offensive side, Williams would be my pick. He was pretty good at both receiver and special teams, probably better than Torrey Smith. I'm glad to see he got a roster spot because he could be the diamond in the rough.
