Lance Briggs Seeks Trade..

28 posts in this topic

He's 30 years old, a 6 time pro bowler who's showed frustration of being in Chi town for years now. Can we get him, should we? He would help our run defense and make us that much better. Someone who could solidify the LB position for a few more years. Just a thought...

He just requested a trade, after not getting a raise. Why don't we trade JJ and Carr for him. They get a good Corner, amd a decent replacement to Briggs.

Edit to those who don't understand JJ is the replacement for briggs.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Philadelphia Eagles pick him up. Their LB corps is atrocious and is the weakness of their (supposed) great defense.

Briggs would be more of a ILB in a 3-4.

Trade the fifth rounder then (bye the way, they owe us for the screwup in the draft, this would do it)

I agree Philly would swoop him up seeing as their main weakness is LB, bur how do they keep picking up big name players? Do they have the cap space? I think Baltimore could use his services he would thrive playing next to Ray, Ed, Ngata, Suggs and we would beast Pittsburgh throughout the season.
He may have looked like he dropped off bur it's probably because his dislike of being in the franchise, I believe if you put him in the right defense with the right crew he would show his worth. At his age, he should be at peak... IMO

if there is anyway we could get rid of foxworth and pickup briggs with a lowball pick or a depth player would just solidfy Oz as the greatest

He's 30 and makes $6 million. Briggs is good, but the difference between him and either Ellerbe ($480,000) or McClain ($1 million) is not worth $5 million + a 5th round pick... IF we could get a 6 time Pro-Bowler for a 5th round pick.

I don't think they'd make the trade, but remember, even 5th round picks are nothing to throw away - Pernell McPhee, Art Jones & David Reed are our 5th round picks the last 2 years.

I really don't see the Bears trading him. At least not during this season.
Yeah, he is a key part of their defense, but, we need another linebacker to compare to Pitsburghs defense. This guy, if we don't trade JJ would be an all pro MLB

No doubt he'd be a solid addition, but I don't see an all-pro.

Plus we'd be putting too much money in to a player who has made his bread and butter in a 4-3.

LOL, why would we trade with the bears? Did everyone already forget.....
Lol, I didn't even think of that.

I don't even know if the Bears would deal him. If they wanted to, I still don't think he'd fit in here. Wrong system, no room. The difference between being a playoff team and a superbowl team is not a linebacker. The difference is a consistent offense capable of making big plays.

Yup, weve been set up to win last 3 years. All the pieces in place but our offense just couldnt capitalize

We would be in good shape for the next few years if we pickup Briggs now.
Yep, cuz somebody who's already 30 will give us help for the next few years.

Why does Lance Briggs keep coming up? It's a bad idea - and nothing is more useless than an idea when it is the only one you have.

We don't need another LB.

and Ray Lewis is 36 and still good
Ray Lewis is Ray Lewis.

Lance Briggs is Lance Briggs, not Ray Lewis. He's never been remotely close to Ray. Ray is still better than Briggs, while being 7 years older. There are exceptions to every rule, but I don't think Briggs is the exception.

Adam Schefter said this on ESPN about Briggs:

""All these people on Twitter are asking if their team can trade for Briggs. Let's be real here. You think Chicago is going to trade him just because he asked for a trade? Really? And do it during the week of their opening game against the Falcons? Not happening. Players ask for trades all the time; teams rarely oblige them. Briggs is a captain, he has been paid handsomely in the past. He is one of the linchpins of the Bears defense. They're not trading him to your favorite team or anybody else's favorite team anytime soon. Chicago needs him. And it intends to keep him."

Schefter gets good info, and I think he put all Briggs rumors to bed.

I think we should offer our next 5 first round draft picks. Then at the last moment "forget" to make the final call.

This is the part where we trade Birk for Briggs, they need a center, why not Birk.
I'm guessing you're serious, right? :)
