Who Is Your Biggest Surprise To Make The Team?

I hope Phillips makes it. Anyone else remember him lighting up that punt returner from the Bronco's last year? That was a brutal, violent hit.

I don't think his ceiling has been reached at all. And I think that Harb's and Ozzie see that.

It's been painfully obvious that Phillips can't turn his hips and cover the middle of the field. Even if he was there mentally (and he's not, he looks lost in coverage) Phillips doesn't have the agility and fluidity to play coverage effectively. Phillips is great on special teams, he's a tough guy and he's stout against the run. But you can't teach fluidity and lateral quickness. Phillips doesn't possess the necessary physical abilities to be a starting LB in the NFL. Not with hips that stiff and feet that slow, he'll get torched in coverage every time.

Maybe if Phillips had played a decade or two ago, he'd be a great player. The modern NFL demands that the MLB be able to cover the middle of the field effectively. Best case scenario he makes the team on special teams and shares snaps with McClain on rushing downs.

I'm the only one who mentions him around here... Danny Gorrer. He played great last night. He could make it in over Chykie (Practice Squad)

Cornerbacks: Foxworth, Williams, Smith, Carr, Webb, Gorrer.

I don't entirely disagree with you. Between Chykee and Gorrer, I think the coaching staff like Gorrer more... so it wouldn't shock me in the least bit to see Gorrer make it and Chykee is signed to the PS...

I think they'll have Chykie on the roster and Gorrer on the PS, but it could happen the other way. As you said, wouldn't chyk-me if they did either.

I think Gooden gets cut. I've barely even heard his name this whole preseason. Maybe he'll go to Oakland or Indianapolis. He'd do better there imo.

I don't think Phillips ceiling has been reached. He has everything except the athleticism. If we could give his mentality and aggressiveness to Gooden's supreme athleticism... If only...

Biggest surprise to make it? Hmm... Either Justin Boren or Josh Bynes. I think both have a good shot to make it.

Its funny I really liked Parmele last year but now with Allen I just dont like him much anymore.
I would be suprised if Gorrer and Bynes dont make the practice squad.
Id like to see Parmele leave if it comes down to him and Allen.
I think we might get rid of Godden and keep Philips for another year.

Idk why everyones on Gorrer's bandwagon now, I remember him getting burned often this preseason.

With the deadline to trim the roster to 53 players approaching, Which Players who we might have thought were "sure things" will be on the list of Players who will be released, or Players who we would have never guessed making the team somehow finding a roster spot? For me, Foxworth is obviously an interesting player in terms of what the team is going to do with him. As well as guys like Ayanbandejo and Mana Silva.


Who do you think will be the biggest shocker of the final 53?

Im not sure - Maybe Hunter Cantwell making the 53 man roster ?? Although it seems like Tyrod's injury is minor and he should be back soon - Its possible they might keep cantwell on the roster ... cuz even if we sign a Vet QB - there is No Way they would learn our offense in less then a week.

I don't see any sure things getting a surprise cut. If it would be by performance it would be like JJ but we need JJ. He is the only name that came to mind. Maybe if we liked a safety over Ruki but there wasn't solid competition there behind Reed and Pollard.

I think Hunter get's cut and we sign a Vet QB...Reports are saying Tyrod is doing much better and will be ready by week 1 but still it would be good to see if we can get Bulger to come out of retirement for 1 more year...I really don't want us to sign Jake Dahlomme(might have spelled that wrong)

My biggest surprise would be James Hardy, a lot of cuts have been name such as Brandon Jones...Divens, Parmele...but James Hardy hasnt yet...that would be shocking, cause he was injured all training camp and his entire time in Buffalo..that would be a gamble

My biggest surprise who DID make it was Chykie Brown, I heard negative things about him in college and coming out of the draft, like he was bad in coverage, etc...but he made it...

Overall, we did a great job retaining a decent backups imo.

I think the Ravens placed him on IR to keep him, he's still a project and he's behind because he's coming off knee surgery, so instead of cutting him and hoping he clears waivers and goes the to practice squad, they keep him and put him on IR....I read somewhere that he has an ankle injury or something that was the 'injury' reason for him being placed on IR...

after all he was just playing LT against ATL
