MERGED: Roster Cuts to get to 53

335 posts in this topic

It's been announced that the Ravens will make their roster cuts tomorrow to get down to 53 and with that hundreds of free agents are going to be hitting the market, some will be rookies but other wills be veterans who were cut for salary reasons or a team decided to go younger.

What does this mean? Well it means that Ozzie will be watching every move closely and I can see the Ravens possibly acquiring some talent. Whatever they think is the missing piece to the puzzle. All I'm saying is if a certain player is cut and the Ravens feel they have a need or he would be an upgrade over a player we have than you know Ozzie will make the move.

Its too bad we dont have the full list of players being cut, I'm sure Ozzie and DeCosta will have them all in front of them the moment they're cut.

What do you guys think?

I'm aware of the salary cap, we are still 2.5 million under the cap, and yes, once again I sure do wish Ngata could get his deal done then we'd have an extra 5-6 million in cap room.

They have to get down to 53 players by 6pm tomorrow. I think they are going to cut Anthony Allen and hope to get him on the practice squad. I also think they are looking for a #2 QB and a #3 WR off the scrap heap.

I don't see Anthony Allen getting cut, he's performed better than guys like Parmele who have been here for a couple years. So Parmele will be cut, I think Allen stays

I hope they keep Anthony Allen but from what I have been hearing is that it may come down to special teams production. Anthony Allen reportedly has nothing on Jalen in this regard.

Qb: Veteran number 2, Tyrod definitely making the team.
RB: Allen over Jalen
FB: Maheffey cut, just need Leach
WR: Anyone not named Boldin, Evans, Torrey, Doss, Reed, LaQuan will be cut
TE: Dickson, Pitta and Wilson are your Tight Ends of 2011
OLine: Racking my brain over this, not sure will be kept for depth and who will slide on to PS

DLine: Divens gone in my opinion, Art Jones can play so many spots on that line, McKinney definitely staying
OLB: Kruger and Kindle making the team, Burgess cut
MLB: Phillips, Gooden and Bynes..Hmm, Cut, Keep, PS (Don't think they are that comfortable with Phillips unless they end up 6 MLBS)
S: You already know the 4 making the team, Don't think Mana Silva did enough to make the team. Awesome Practice guy, maybe go to PS and break out next year
CB: I have no idea how this is gonna work out. I don't see us keeping more than 6 corners, So I guess we keep the expected ones but not sure if Ozzie will move Foxworth and sign a veteran for cheaper.

I think Allen made the team when he had that one rush for 11 yards and those 2 catches. Think they realized they like what they saw from their 7th round pick and put him on the bench.

Parmele looked bad stat wise but he had a high motor on a lot of his runs and would look better with the starting line. However, I don't think he would look as nearly as good as Anthony Allen running behind Leach

No. Just because his first year he was on IR, his 2nd year he was a bubble player and this year he is a bubble player as well. I just don't know how you can trust someone who is barely making the team and has an LCL. Reports out of camp last year was that he was atrocious in pass coverage.

Funny Mustangcat how you only question people about Phillips but don't post anything about the topic. Go troll some where else because for starters your new or just made a new account and second your not even responding to the topic just questioning others opinion which suggest to me your just a TROLL.

I don't wish for him to be cut but if he is that means the end of dealing with you an that in itself is reason to celebrate.

Just a note on this is we really need a young future #2 RB behind Rice. Ricky Williams was signed for just insurance on 2# RB because we didn't have any ligitimate one. After 4 series of AA showcase, we already know AA is the future of #2 RB, and Ricky will be FA in the next 2yr.

Having Anthony Allen is not the only reason I want Parmele gone. Last year, in our playoff beatdown of the Kansas City Chiefs, Jalen Parmele came in for some garbage time running, and I remember he couldn't even gain positive yardage. David Reed and now LaQuan Williams have shown they can return kicks, which negates Parmele's value on special teams. Anthony Allen has earned the #3 RB spot, and Parmele will hopefully need to find a new home.

I do remember that game but you cant hold last year against him either. He does contribute on ST but I have to agree I would rather see L. Williams get that gunner spot before him. Even if Parmele is cut he will get picked up by another team.

Idk, everything I've read is that the coaches love Allen's physical style and his straight ahead running...Parmele has never developed as a runner and special teams....someone else can step up and take that spot over

Philips was on his last legs anyway, yes he made some plays in last nights game but was that enough for him to remain on the team? I dont think he's done enough

True, but last year was a good indication of what Parmele brings to the table, which unfortunately for him, shouldn't be enough to keep his roster spot.

i dont disagree with you at all but i still think that if hes kept its based solely off ST which he does help with.

You didn't know he is the best LB the Ravens have ever fielded and we would be at a lost without him giving up the only TD to the Falcons due to his poor coverage skills. What makes him even better is he has had 3 years with the team and still cant out produce rookies that had a short training camp. What will we do without this great player on our roster?

In his defense he did see limited action until TT got hurt. I think he performed ok considering his situation.

Just caught a segment on Around the League on NFL Network and Jason LaConforna seems to have Foxworth on his "Bubble Guys" list.

Hopefully Gooden, Phillips and Ayenbadejo are gone.
[/quote]
Cut Ayanbadejo? No way. He's a ST Pro-bowler and a very good ILB.
