James Harrison Not So Healthy

This should make some of you guys happy...or relieved...
Harrison has had a tough time getting back in shape after his surgery, and it was apparent in the victory Saturday night against the Atlanta Falcons, when he played longer than in either of the two previous games and was noticeably fatigued. He often was breathing heavily and had a difficult time pressuring quarterback Matt Ryan.
I'll bet they platoon him for the first few games of the season, with a VA Tech OLB they drafted last year, Jason Worilds. Worilds looks really quick off the right edge, and Harrison's age - 33 - combined with a 6 year $51 million contract may make him expendable, sooner rather than later... He's got 4 years left on the contract, and I don't think his back will allow him to play until he's 37.

This has been a story most of the offseason, seems like his recovery from back surgery is taking a little bit longer than expected. There's a price to pay for playing your best football at 29+, his body might not be able to keep up.

He will find a way to play against the Ravens. And play well.

It seems like then all do *sigh*.

Back surgery, huh? I figured it would have been from all the illegal helmet to helmet hits he's given over the years.....

I hope he gets better for the game and gives the Ravens 100%. I want us to beat the Steelers with their best. I want no excuses when we win.

He'll be fine by september 11th. Plus, the real raven killer the past year or 2 has been Woodley
only because he has gone against a chump rt, that just changed so woodley has just been relegated to nothing now, he cant cover or play the run well he is a one trick pony.

Look, Harrison will be going against Mckinnie, an all pro caliber LT, if he tries, if he doesn't try, he is still a top ten tackle Harrison, is a dirty player, and is overrrated, Mckinnie will creamin.

You're more optimistic than I am... ;)

I want to see McKinnie take his first snap as a Raven, before I predict he shuts down Harrison...

even if harrison isnt 100%, he'll still be playin better than most anyone else on sunday...i have a feeling the real thorn on the 11th will be Timmons and Pitts WR's

Doctor Who, I sense you're probably gonna be pushing your luck here soon. You're on the verge of smack talk..... though, most of what you're saying is speculation.

Anyone surprised he didn't land on PUP? I know his issues may not be bad but if it's back issues I thought for sure he would have landed on PUP to start the season.

I think that he would have had to miss all of training camp to be eligible, but I may be mistaken.

They need him to play, as much potential as Worilds has their pass rush wont be the same when Woodley can be focused on.

Timmons is an excellent ILB. He does a good job of using his speed to track Rice down/blitz effectively. I'm not sure how the Pitt WR/Our CBs will pan out but I'm hoping we keep them largely in check. On the flipside, I hope we destroy the Steelers corners though. It's the easiest way around their defense.

That wasnt really in reference to the Ravens, that was more so reference to most football players in general, meaning that even if he isnt at 100%, it is still better than others on the field. Like how people say that Troy at 70% is better than most people at 100%..wasnt really knocking anyone in particular. But just because you dont like someones opinion, doesnt make it "smack."

Hey Doctor - your secondary is quite porous. Good luck with that!
no one is disputing that, but when it comes to secondaries for balt and pitt, both arent really anything to write home about

Pitts pass rush will more than likely cover it up, like it did in 08

Do you think Ike Taylor will be ready for that game or is he ruled out? What's the latest on that?
