Week 3: Who Should I Play?

4 posts in this topic

So I have some tough decisions to make here and was looking for any opinions I might get. I can only play 2 running backs in my league and the RBs on my roster are:

Marion Barber
Steven Jackson
Willis McGahee
Matt Forte
Ray Rice

Barber is a starter every week for me unless he is injured, but I'm having trouble deciding on my second starter.

Willis and Ray both have a GREAT matchup against the Browns this week, but I'm not sure how the number of carries will work out for both. I know McGahee was practicing with the first team this week, but do you think he will get enough carries this week to merit him starting or will he be slowly worked back in since Ray and Le'Ron did so well week 1?

Matt Forte is going to be my keeper this year (we can only keep rookies) and he has no competition for carries other than the occassional one Kevin Jones takes. He is a great back and has been good in both weeks so far, but Tampa has a pretty tough defense and I'm not sure how well he will produce. Plus, I have to sit him at least 4 weeks this season (not counting his bye) for him to qualify as a keeper and was considering sitting him this week due to the matchup.

Steven Jackson has been suffering because his team is terrible. BUT, the Seahawks have allowed a lot of points so far this year and they haven't been very good against the run either.

I've been leanin towards Forte or McGahee, but I'm not sure yet, any advice?

Def not Matt Forte. I'd go Steven Jackson if I had to make a choice. I do love willis in the long run and he is tempting in this situation. But who knows how he will be incorporated into our offense with his first game back.

Even though the Rams are struggling. Stephen Jackson will still get his. Plus they played some tough games already, and they called out their OL. Look for Jackson to see more touches this game.

Seeing as how you (smartly) designated Marion Barber as one of your starters already, I would probably go with Steven Jackson as the second RB.

Jackson vs. the Seahawks is a MUCH BETTER match-up than Forte vs. the Bucs.

If you're inclined to start a Raven, it's a better bet to start Ray Rice over Willis McGahee, only because the Baltimore Sun's Jamison Hensley reports that McGahee may not get the start this week, and that regardless of whether he starts, it'll probably be running-back-by-committee tomorrow.

For whatever it's worth, I am starting Matt Forte this week. This is why -and you mentioned it, but he is the only back on my fantasy team that gets all the carries for his team. So far he has scored great, even in the loss last week against a pretty stout Carolina Defense.

I have Barber too, and Chris Johnson starting at my flex position, and I am counting on Matt Forte to keep up the double digit days!
