Interesting Analysis Of Projected Cuts

18 posts in this topic

On one hand the guy seems to have some knowledge of the team such as him giving LaQuan Williams the final WR roster spot. However, he sees Michael McAdoo making the team. That makes no sense to me. He is destined for the practice squad. He also has us only carrying 4 CB's by cutting Foxworth and Brown.

Still, I think it's an interesting read,

Note: This was dated Aug 26th before we released Cousins. He had Cousins making the team.

I'd say we end up with closer to 6 CB's.

Smith
Williams
Webb
Carr
Foxworth
Brown

I think will all make the team. I don't see any of our draft picks being cut yet.

I think McAdoo will end up on the practice squad. Harbs himself even said it would be impossible for him to catch up on the rest of the guys he's competing with for a roster spot. It would be a risk, but he's raw to the point where we'd likely be sacrificing someone who could contribute more to keep him around.

I also don't agree with us keeping Cantwell around as the article suggests. If we get to a point where both Joe and Tyrod are incapable of playing, I'd either trade for a guy who is surplus to requirements or pick up a FA.

This is my own version of the 53-man roster that I posted in another thread:
Offense:

QB: Flacco, Taylor
RB: Rice, Williams, Allen
FB: Leach
WR: Boldin, Evans, Doss, Reed, Smith, Williams
TE: Dickson, Pitta, Wilson
T: McKinnie, Oher, Levoir/Harewood, Reid
G: Grubbs, Yanda, Boren, Barnes (C/G)
C: Birk, Mattison

Defense:

DE: Ngata, Redding, Jones, McPhee
NT: Cody, McKinney
OLB: Suggs, JJ, Kindle, Kruger, Burgess
ILB: Ray, McClain, Ellerbe, Gooden, Ayanbadejo
CB: Smith, Carr, Williams, Webb, Foxy
FS: Reed, Nakamura
SS: Pollard, Zibby

Special teams:

K: Cundiff
P: Koch
LS: Cox

Starters in bold.
McAdoo will be PS or IR (to keep some other team from snatching him on waivers). No way we cut Brown, Foxworth is highly unlikely to be cut.

Is Cantwell still PS-able?

I think it's his third year so he should be.

McAdoo should go on the IR list.. he need to gain weight before he play. I think they should put Foxworth on the PUP list to give give him more time to heal.. we gonna need him the second half of the season.

Thank you! I think that's where he should end up. The extra slot for the roster and gameday could save us a tough decision.

There's some weird rules surrounding the PUP list. I think Foxworth would've had to be on it already to be eligible to be on PUP when the season starts. Could be wrong but that's what I remember.

McAdoo is a PS

and out WRs are Boldin, Evans, Reed, Doss, Torrey Smith, and LaQuan WIllims will make the team, he has shown too much to not make the team...he's also a PS prospect

Everybody is just guessing who will make the team...why did we pick up McAdooo? (sp?) because he's a project, he could be good in time, I'm sure he could be a practice squadder

The McAdoo situation makes no sense, I dont see how an underweight prospect who hasnt played football in two years wouldnt put on any weight.

Allen and Laquan probably wouldnt clear waivers.

Correct me if I'm wrong but when we make our final cuts all of those guys, that are cut, are available on the open market, right? Meaning that before they are placed on the practice squad they have to clear waivers.

Correct...they are also listed as free agents throughout the entire season and can be scooped up by any team at any time!

It's an interesting read, but I agree with Scrock - you have to keep 5 CBs minimum.

I think Cantwell and McAdoo are both PS material, we go with 8 LBs (sorry Tavares), 9 OLinemen (Cousins is the one cut from the CBS list), keep both Foxworth and Brown, swap Wilson for Drew... and add a RB or OLineman and a QB from the waiver wire list.

864 players are going to be cut by Saturday, and some quality names will crop up.

Also... I HONESTLY think some of the posters on here could write better articles than some produced in these national publications. We follow the team much more closely, are aware of who's playing well and who's not...

I say offer Foxworth a pay cut, or cut him. Too much money for a guy who isnt a lock for #1 CB. We can then use that money for a surprise veteran cut like we did last year on Housh.

Also, I would like to see then cut T Good, and possibly give one of the rookies LB a chance to see what they got. I was never a real fan of him and he hasnt really prove to be anything special, especially after potentially being Ray's replacement when we drafted him.

There's no way we cut Foxworth this year. Not because of his playing ability, but just because of his contract. The Ravens will take a multi-million dollar hit if they cut him, negating the benefits of doing it in the first place. He is very forward thinking and has a pretty good agent haha.
