Week 1 Can't Get Here Soon Enough!

62 posts in this topic

Ok, I did it. I played the week 1 game against the Steelers on Madden. I was nervous, but I wanted to get the early indication of the outcome of this game. Are you ready? I did my part. I beat the Steelers 24-0.

How do you guys and girls feel about the real week 1 showdown with the much “beloved” Steelers. Three preseasons games under their belt (including the “dress rehearsal”). Do you feel confident about a win? Too close to call? Another disappointing lose? All I know is 9/11 will not get here soon enough. I’m feeling cautiously optimistic. To me, the wild card is the O-line. I think they may be getting the pieces they need for the O-line to come together. The question to me is will these pieces get another time together before the big show.

What do you think they must get fixed before the big game??? Do you think they are already ready to go?? Just curious what you folks are thinking.

I changed the topic title to Week 1 instead of 9/11 because it just sounded a little strange that you'd be looking forward to that date, given its significance. We knew what you meant, though.

Good call......

I have a hard time believing our O line will be in sync by week 1, but I think regardless, it's an improvement from last year. I'm excited to finally put Oher where he's best again.

Why do people think that what Madden score they got matters to anybody?

"Oh crap, I can't believe he did it! He simulated the game on Madden! Brave man. 24-0? That must be a crystal ball reading!"

The Steelers look as good as ever. Our defense needs to play well, can't let up those long TDs.

Between A Brown and M Wallace. They will stretch the field like crazy against us. I can see Brown going nuts on us. We need to get pressure fast, and we can't allow Ben to bounce off like always.

I'll tell you what, im very very excited now that we have Mckinnie at LT and we finally, Finally put Oher back where he belongs at RT.

I honestly had the Wk 1 Game against the STEALERS marked off as a loss , but now with the O line looking very strong now and our WR core looking so deep. I cant wait either, i really cant. All we have to do is throw the ball on the Stealers and we have a good chance of not only beating them but Whopping their ===.

I cant wait for the Falcons game because it will be mostly the 1s playing and we can get some payback from last season b.s game that the Refs gave the Falcons the game

As long as Foxworth isnt playing that game, i feel confident with our secondary. Foxworth is dirt slow, we should have gotten rid of him along time ago and kept Wilson. I think Fox. screwed us with coming back when he KNEW he wasnt ready. If he would have been honest with the Staff then Wilson would still be here. But imo i think Fox. thought if he didnt lie, (yea i said it LIE, about being healthy) we would have cut him and i think Foxworth knows that.

I'm wondering if we can create anymore pressure with Kindle, Krueger or even maybe Mcphee. Hopefully Chuck's aggressive play calling will help. I would like to see the tackling improve. It looked a little suspect in the last 3 games.

Lighten up...just excited about week 1! I really don't think the outcome of my Madden game will have any impact on this game. Anyway, a previous post called me out. I played the game under the rookie mode.

Im wondering how Jimmy and Cary stack up against Wallace and Brown. I know theyre both fast, and have Reed helping over the top. Theyre big guys--bigger than Wallace and Brown, so hopefully they can bump them aggressively and throw off their routes with the pass rush collapsing the pocket. We just need to control the gaps when the pocket breaks down and keep a spy on the right side where Ben often scrambles to.

We better keep an eye on this Brown kid I didn't know he was that fast. I hate to say it but he concerns me alil. Him and Wallace could be a problem. I'm almost sure Foxworth won't be playing week 1 now lol.

Difficult to assign corners to certain WRs.......

I agree, plus there is also Cotchery and Emmanuel Sanders to deal with. Im sure Bruce Arians will run plenty of 5 sets. I think Webb on Wallace is a good match for the Ravens. Hes done well against him. Wallaces weaknesses, IMO, play to Webbs strengths.

I hope we give McPhee plenty of snaps. I realize he's done a lot of his damage against 2nd teamers but the Steelers o-line isn't very good especially if Pouncy is out. McPhee gives up and interior pass rush I've never seen from the Ravens before. Big Ben can avoid outside rush. We've seen that plenty of times before. We need to get pressure right up the middle.

Woah there, McPhee has great talent and I'm excited about him, but don't you think your expectations are a little high? McPhee won't come out week 1 and be a game-changer against the Steelers. I'm not sure about your analysis, Ben tends to make most of his big plays when he rolls out of the pocket, interior pass rush would help but really it comes down to whether our outside LBs and DEs can keep contain and prevent him from buying time to throw down field. I'd be pleasantly surprised to see McPhee get any significant playing time at all, you can't expect him to suddenly become the savior of our pass rush.

Irrelevant to the match-ups but it got more exciting for me because it was announced that it will be televised here in the UK.

I'm not confident about winning, I never am when it comes to the Steelers but it will be a heck of a good game. As always I believe it will come down to whoever wins the turnover battle and I think we're better tooled than ever to win.
