Ive said it before this game and i will say it again, Torrey Smith is a bust. You guys can keep calling me crazy if u want but im tired of Torrey getting the benefit of the doubt. Tandon Doss who was drafted in the 4th rd, has had the same amount of time ( next to none ) to prepare as Smith has. No need to say who looks way better between the two. You dont develop your hands after you've made it to the NFL. Catching is catching, either you can catch or you cant. Point blank. SMith has hands of stone. He probably looks like this when the ball comes his way

That list is exactly correct. You dont develop hands in the NFL, you develop route running and recognition of schemes.

Note*** Harper has no chance of making the team.

I will say this after tonight he did not inspire a hell of a lot of confidence in e that he will be the long term speedster this team needs. Now that I got that out of the way ever hear of a guy named Brandon Lloyd, what a bout Braylon Edwards ?? People said the same things and with some time they pulled it together and have played spectacular for their respective teams.

I was going to post this exact depth chart, except I would say Boldin is still the #1 'round these parts. I won't call the OP crazy for putting Smith at the bottom, but I will call him crazy for thinking we keep 7 receivers on the depth chart. And the 7th receiver is Harper? Who has absolutely no impact on special teams or in the passing game? Crazy.

Too early to call Smith a bust, for the 1,000,000th time. Plenty of receivers have struggled with concentration and catching early and gone on to be successful.

I'll give you Braylon Edwards , But Brandon Lloyd was always making crazy catches. He was just constantly on horrible offensive teams with poor QBs and getting next to no playing time.

LOL, C'mon man. Look, he had a bad game, heck, a bad preseason. But to call him a bust as a WR in three preseason games with virtually no offseason leading into them is a bit silly and reactive. He'll get better. I don't think your depth chart guess is far off though. Loving Doss.

How the hell is Harper on that list?

A little harsh on Torrey. I still like to see some of these other guys with the first team. I like Doss as our number 3. A sure hands guy can go a long way.

Oh no just because the top 100 said that does not make it true, being in the Army I am exposed to a lot of wayward fans, and for years now have heard this sergeant I know talk about Brandon Lloyd he has been saying for years that Llyod had all the tools he was just way to inconsistent. He would drop about 5 and then make a great one, till last year and he decided to drop 1 out of 5 and still make the crazy catches.

You're just hating if you have Harper before Smith. He's had what, three, four years to earn playing time? This is Smith's THIRD game ever in a Ravens uniform. Doss has better hands than Smith, everyone knows that. But Smith still offers a lot so give him time. I think everyone knew he was going to be a project. Every single one of our young WR's are projects. Accept it

I wont judge Torrey Smith until he has a year under his belt on whether hes a bust. And thats still not fair.

I don't understand why everyone is so hard on Harper. That guy can play in the NFL. Cam Cameron said so himself.

Cam says a lot of things. Most the time its blowing steam about any player. Ask the man about Onel Cousins.

Very good point.

Don't give up on Torrey yet. He looks lost out there, but he's 22, and has too much upside to even consider writing him off. Give him time - it's not like we NEED him to produce immediately... he's just going to watch, practice and learn,

Everyone had such high expectations that he would immediately explode into a game changing player, that they don't want to realize that he has a longer learning curve than we'd hoped for. It doesn't mean we consider him a bust. The team won't give up on him, and neither should we.

And, yes - Justin Harper, Marcus Smith, James Hardy and Brandon Jones' ships have sailed. They've each had more time in the pros to produce, and haven't. They will all be unemployed soon...

Just be glad that the two youngsters Doss and Reed HAVE produced...

I also think that T Smith is gonna be a bust but will still probably get the 3rd Wr spot because he was a second round draft pick. The ravens have too much invested in him not to let him play.

I agree with you that Smith has struggled with catching the ball. And after this game I was very skeptical of his play. But there is no way they are going to cut their second string pick. That would be madness. I think that it should be

1. Boldin
2. Evans
3. Reed
4. Doss
5. Smith

I'm hoping it is just nerves with Smith. Or just a lack of focus, but I don't really know to be honest. He needs to catch the ball. He gets open, there's something to be said for that. But he needs to catch the ball. Reed needs to run with the ones and Flacco to get more reps, and Doss is just an absolute animal when the ball is heading his way. Stud for years. Lets hope that Smith will learn from sitting the bench this year

It might be a little early to label Smith as a Bust, but He is showing consistent signs of having all of the tools NOT to be a productive NFL receiver. I was very disappointed with him tonight and lost a lot of long term confidence in him. You look at Torrey tonight, dropping basically every ball that was thrown to him, one of them being a wide open ball that should have been caught, and then you look at a guy like Tandon Doss making ridiculous catches out of nowhere. Not a good pre season for Torrey at all.

DOSS is a STUD. I am happy they allow Flacco to have an opinion in the draft. For Joe's pick, Doss looks really amazing and has great hands when he is in traffic.

I agree here. To me it's a toss up between Reed and Doss at #3.

To me it's

1. Boldin
2. Evans
3. Reed
4. Doss
5. T. Smith
6. L. Williams - This guy won't make it to the PS, another team will pick him up.

2 WR, 2 TE Sets: 1) Boldin 2) Evans 3) Dickson 4) Pitta

3 WR, 1 TE Sets: 1) Boldin 2) Evans 3) Doss 4) Dickson

That leaves room for 5 offensive lineman, the quarterback and a running back.

You can leave 1 TE in to block, 2 TEs in to block, everyone can be Receivers, whatever.

It stills leave all of our best pass-catchers on the field in passing situations.

Reed has more experience in the system. He's also faster and more explosive, exactly what this offense desperately needs right now. However, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Doss won the 3rd receiver job, he's made some phenomenal catches and he's fearless over the middle.

So it's really more of a matter of the situation than who's the better receiver. If you want a quick slant over the middle Doss is the man, Reed has more value running streaks and drag routes to use his speed.

Yes. Reed has one more year of experience over Doss. Honestly it's very close though. I can see both being used as the 3rd WR for varying situations.
